Jerry Jones: “Tony played the best game of his career.”

So let me get this straight...

Had we marched down and gotten within field goal range, given our starting point and barring penalties Romo would have likely broken Norm Van Brocklin's 62-year old single game passing record. Consider that.

Consider, that means this is the line we needed from our starting quarterback to win the game (thanks to our "defense"):

70% completion percentage, 560 yards passing, 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions.

So when our quarterback is unable to achieve that line and we lose, the quarterback is at fault. We are so bad that we need an all-time historic game from our quarterback just to have a chance to win, and when he doesn't do it we point the finger at him. Is that the gist of it?

You know what stinks. Kaepernick completes just 6passes for like 113yds, 1TD, gets part of the 4th QTR off and his team wins.

Romo plays his guts out...and his team doesn't have a lead with under 2min left in the game.

Almost seems unfair.

JJ is 100% correct.

Too bad it'll be lost on the folks that don't realize that THIS is whats wrong with the team. Romo has to play perfect games for the cowboys to win consistently.

Actually, I find Dallas is a far more dangerous team when Romo isn't trying to play perfect game. Usually when they rely on him to this extent good things do not happen. Dallas can't win these "lets go toe to toe" with offensive juggernauts because it just puts too much pressure on Romo. They need to rewatch the Rams game over and over. There were plenty of opportunities in this game to run the ball, control the clock, keep peyton off the field. But there was Dallas slinging the ball all over the field (which was very entertaining) but ultimately they don't fare well in those games. You could almost see Romo demeanor change on that last series - its just putting too much pressure on him.

Rodney Harrison mentioned as he was watching the series, he could tell Tony was thinking too much about not making a mistake instead of just playing football.

Romo's in for a long week. Because people will simply ignore the defense's performance. 500-plus yards, five touchdowns, and 48 points, and Romo choked? Yeah, okay.

yep, the defence owes him big time because the narrative now will be Romo choked and it is his fault

I disagree: Romo doesn't need to play a 'perfect' game he just needs to stop making dumb decisions: 2:36 left, with the ball, three timeouts, at home...the great ones win these games...Romo is what he is and we've seen this before. He doesn't 'stink' as some will say here...just my opinion...

blame the bloody coaching, we could have run a normal drive but nooooooooooo, have to pass every down etc

I love Romo. But his late game turnover is the only thing keeping him from becoming elite.

He played an incredible game and carried the STAR for 58 min. He was the reason we were still in this game. Nevertheless, he knows better than turning the ball over when the game is still tied. At least make the other team earn it.

I heard him say that too, but it really doesn't make much sense. He was playing football. If he were trying to avoid making the mistake, he wouldn't have forced it into Escobar.

Very well laid out.

And what's pathetic is, Romo actually did have an all-time historic game and we still lost.

Okay, I'm going to say it - and I have been super critical of Romo in the past. Tony Romo is elite. He's just not Super Bowl elite. If he has a defense, he easily wins this game.

I think Tony has it in his head that hes a choker. I do not believe he trusts himself.

What Tony was thinking about was they had changed the defense he had been facing the entire game. (Someone mentioned that earlier.) There must have been some problem with the play call - or something - because he just barely beat the play clock on the first play - 0 coincided with the snap. Clearly, Harrison has no idea what Tony was thinking.

I don't completely disagree, but I think people are overstating the impact of the interception on our win probability. First of all, there is not a person among the 92,000 people in the stadium including Romo that did not know that if we punt, we LOSE. Once we got into 2nd and 16 we were in an extremely perilous situation. That does not excuse the interception or mean I wouldn't have preferred we punted, but this is miles away from being in their territory and throwing the pick on first down.

its maddening because Dallas has tried that so many times in past and not achieved success. Dallas needs to be a running team with Romo sprinkled in to have long term success. Its clear by now.

Romo played great but yes he choked in the end.

Romo is judged in the clutch moments of games and he once again showed why he has the perception that he does.

Manning carried that stigma for eight impressive years with the Colts, and he is arguably the best to ever play the position. What you saw at the end was instinct winning out in a man who used said instinct to fashion one of the most prolific performances I have ever witnessed on any Sunday I can recall. He put the Cowboys on his back for better or worse. I saw Dallas losing by 14+ in this game so I was rather shocked at the downburst by the offense. I figured that they were done after Denver went up 28 - 17. They surprised me. They inspired me...even in such a gut-wrenching and tragic loss. I try to be objective in my feelings about the Cowboys because until they acquire an aura of consistency, it is simply too hazardous from an emotional standpoint.

It's his career in a nutshell. Looks amazing to get you almost to the top of the mountain, but slips up and makes a mistake before he can actually get you over the hump.

Thats pretty much sums it up..........................We need a historical record breaking performance to have a chance to win................................And if our QB comes up a little short its all his fault..................LOL

It's a little tough to wrap your head around that Romo threw 5Tds and over 500yds. I mean 500+yds passing and it was NOT enough. the INT bummed me out but ultimately didn't bother me as much as knowing that this guy shouldn't have to play THAT hard and put up THOSE numbers only to have his defense squander leads

Jerry drunk again? how is anyone best game in their career end with them making a turnover that allows other team to win. I am concerned for Jerry wife, that can't be good situation for anyone.
