LOL.

Stop.

You think the best GMs in football just sit by waiting for the phone to ring? They do not.

I really wonder how many freaking years of ineptitude will it take for some of you to stop defending Jerry and the dumb things he does every year.
28 more?

No, they do not. Neither Jerry nor Stephen had any qualifications for the job that was better than the typical fan out of the stands. The failure of the team since Jerry ran Jimmy is all the proof in the world of that.

I could buy one of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants and name myself Chef. It does not mean that I am more qualified than some guy off the street who didn't have the cash to buy the place.
See the word in bold. That's a key word in your comment. I'm not a JJ apologist, and in fact think he is a poor GM, but this isn't 1989, and Jerry has been operating and maneuvering in the NFL for over 30 years at this point. He clearly does have qualifications and knowledge typical fans in the stands do not. Again, I'm not saying Jerry is a good GM, but it's plain wrong to suggest any typical fan would be as qualified as he is.

What you are doing is called a circular argument, and it is illogical.

They never had, and they still DO NOT. The proof is overwhelming; 28 years & counting, NFL records for longest tenures with not even a conference title game appearance.

Just because Jerry cannot be fired, and that results in the longest tenure (an ongoing NFL record for longest failed tenure) that does not automatically confer qualifications on a person especially when they produce only failure.

The emperor has no clothes and it doesn't matter that he has been both emperor and naked for 28 years and that no one can force him to put clothes on. He still has no clothing on. No amount of years being untouchable is going to suddenly count as no longer being naked.

I just don’t understand how an NFL GM isn’t constantly working phones at the deadline just so they know what’s potentially out there, even if you’re not likely to make a move.

These are things we shouldn’t even know. It’s truly amazing how Jerry not only gets away with what he does, but often gives a play by play of exactly how dysfunctional and inept they actually are.

Jerry refuses to spend time watching tape of possible draftees, he sure isn't going to go out of his way to be on the phone.

Define qualified.

There are several here on this board alone who would be a better GM than Jerry. And it wouldn't be close.

Jerry's really living up to his reputation for steadfastly maintaining his reputation as a non-prolific guru of NFL talent! :muttley:

Dak, Moore, Mike, refs, blah, blah. Jerrah is the reason this isn't a championship winning franchise.

I don’t disagree, but the counterpoint is even if they have become decent managers, there comes a point for everyone where the business model moves on. Even greats like Tom Landry, Tex Schramm, and Gil Brandt had to give up their careers as Jerry and Jimmy moved on in and did very well. By mixing the owner and GM, it ruins a very important accountability dynamic for continued success, and sometimes a much needed reboot.

I don't know about you guys but I am sick of the "we like our guys" motto.

So what, you still have holes, do something to try to upgrade this roster.
We’ve already given up a fourth, fifth and sixth round picks for Cooks and Trey Lance. I don’t see any trades that are going put us ahead of San Francisco and Philly. We need to hang on to our draft picks for next April.
