Like.. This team knows that what Dak did in San Fran is exactly what he will do in the playoffs..

If we can get homefield then yeah that changes things but Dak’s not going into a hornet nest against a stout defense and winning us a game.

Henry can win you games and with our defense I just think it’s such an obvious move.
So was Bobby Wagner. We signed LVE instead. This FO doesnt care about being aggressive.

What you are doing is called a circular argument, and it is illogical.

They never had, and they still DO NOT. The proof is overwhelming; 28 years & counting, NFL records for longest tenures with not even a conference title game appearance.

Just because Jerry cannot be fired, and that results in the longest tenure (an ongoing NFL record for longest failed tenure) that does not automatically confer qualifications on a person especially when they produce only failure.

The emperor has no clothes and it doesn't matter that he has been both emperor and naked for 28 years and that no one can force him to put clothes on. He still has no clothing on. No amount of years being untouchable is going to suddenly count as no longer being naked.
It's absolutely logical. Learning from experience is not a made up notion. It's really how we learn most things in life.

Your argument only proves that he hasn't become among the best in the business at running a team, which I said so myself. But that in no way proves he isn't, at this point, much more knowledgeable and experienced than you are as you sit in front of a computer with zero foundation to believe you could walk in off the street and do better.

Define qualified.

There are several here on this board alone who would be a better GM than Jerry. And it wouldn't be close.
By qualified I mean a business man and a man that has been in that particular business for over 30 years.

You will note that I said I believe he is a poor GM, but a person would have to be an idiot to think they could walk in fresh faced off the street and do better. It's easy to sit at a computer and say what you would do, but it's entirely different in that world having to find ways to make things happen.

That said, I don't doubt there are at least a few on this thread that if given years to function in and learn the job would be better than Jerry, but coming in fresh from posting comments on a computer there is no way in Hell

I don’t disagree, but the counterpoint is even if they have become decent managers, there comes a point for everyone where the business model moves on. Even greats like Tom Landry, Tex Schramm, and Gil Brandt had to give up their careers as Jerry and Jimmy moved on in and did very well. By mixing the owner and GM, it ruins a very important accountability dynamic for continued success, and sometimes a much needed reboot.
I agree with this completely. Ideally the Cowboys would move on from Jerry as GM, and Jerry as owner would hire a strong GM then back off and let that GM do the job. Obviously that won't happen, but that's what would be best for the team.

that actually does not make sense. Jerry is at every game home and away, he gets excited when they win, bummed out when they lose.
I think he wants to win a champ or a SB, but for some reason is not willing to go all out to do it.
I think his brain just cant see the big picture, and I guess maybe he thinks he will live forever, so has plenty of time to do it.

He also may be a compulsive tightwad, and so is even tight with the cap money which he cant put in his pocket.
he is just a nut lol, so I can see where a young jerry would have driven jimmy crazy enough to just get in his car and leave town, and not come back
except for that last PC. and his last check.
we have 27 years that says he rather do it his way and be in the news every year and garner attention, than to get a SB win. Its more important that he does it his way, even if we never get another ring. It makes sense man. Its the truth.

hindsight is more than 2020 it gets so ridiculous when other fans think they look around the league and see how other teams are doing things and occasionally the high risk all in gamble works but most teams like 30 other teams do it like the Joneses but fans really are delusional and think they think it can be done better and you might think he's a poor GM but he has an army of staff in many businesses not just the Dallas Cowboys but I'm under the impression they have about 7 to 1200 employees depending on management and whether you're counting the players and what not to run he's not sitting in a castle with a big window and a giant chair making decisions by himself he has not only his family but he has people that have been in this business a very long time including himself by the way you don't think in 33 years he hasn't learned a single thing??

I believe Jerry Jones is growing up a lot in the last 12 years I believe he's brought in a lot of good people and he listens to them and also look around the league and again this reaction coming from fans is happens every time in the offseason then again at the trade deadline then again after a playoff loss it's the same overreaction it's the same false narrative they act like every team has the blueprint that if they go all in and make high risk moves they win a Super Bowl well show me outside the Rams and really the Eagles made one move for a safety that's long in the tooth probably on his last contract they all they did is trade a fourth and a fifth and a player for him and they have not yet seen how it's gonna affect the team and yet fans overreact because what three out of 32 teams might make a move before the trade deadline show me all those big moves show me why Jerry is the only one that seemingly looks cheap and lost and feels his roster is good enough??

Did I miss the transaction wires for all these moves because maybe I've heard of maybe 3 none of them got me off my chair and made me go Oh my God they're going to the Super bowl because if anybody thinks that that move for the safety somehow guarantees the Eagles success they might wanna remember what a paper champion looks like and what reality is is how about we wait until February to have this discussion because if we wanna talk about it in February and move that may or may not have been feasible to make and Jerry missed out on it first of all I'm thinking out of the 15 rumors which are all rumor mill maybe two or even viable you know feasible to make given the salary cap roster spots and the age and whatnot of the player that everybody here wants to trade for...

Someone linked me to all these big moves these other teams are making big moves and I mean just Herschel Walker type change a franchise type moves all the Eagles did was fill a need they had a hole they have a lot of injuries on the back end so they went and made a a move that move does not make a giant needle jump to me until I see how it works how about we play the two games against him and find out who's really better and this time I would like both quarterbacks to be healthy so we can leave that narrative behind I wanna see head to head both games our team and there's relatively healthy but then more importantly both their starting quarterbacks start and finish the game...

Actually, he wants a Super Bowl win very badly and they are trying to add some players before the deadline.

I'm smart enough to know that they are trying to add some players before the deadline.
Sure they are.

Go drink out of your Cowboys sippy cup.

You are the same poster who said Stephen Jones was qualified for his job.

Sure, but there is no way to unequivocally state that. We simply disagree, there are several who understand the concept of NFL team building much better than Jerry right here.

BTW, I am in no way including myself.

Lol, at least I'm not a cry baby and know that they are trying.
They are? People who are trying spend copious amounts of time at it. They do not. So, no, they are not trying very hard at all.

No he doesn't. If he wanted a super bowl win, he wouldn't insist on a GM that he himself admits would've been long fired by any other franchise. An owner who insists on a bad GM is not interested in winning super bowls. He is only interested in self adulation, that is it.

No, you are like a typical press secretary for any politician trying to make excuses for his failures
I am amazed at people who think they are so smart but are too dumb to realize that when someone has FAILED to do something they SAY they want to do for 28 YEARS, believing them is ONLY FOR FOOLS.

I find it funny that Jerry says things like " I’m not going to say we belong on the field with San Fran, and we haven’t played Philly. ..So, I don’t want to go that far". But then he doesn't actively pursue any deals at the deadline that could put this team in a position where they do belong on the field with SF and Philly. I'm not saying he should break the bank or use too much draft capital but if he truly feels his team doesn't belong on the field with the team that has eliminated you the last two years and then embarrassed you a couple of weeks ago, what kind of GM are you?

Anyway, if history has taught us anything, whether they make a big move like Coop or a smaller one, or do nothing, it doesn't seem to really matter because they don't get anything done in the post-season. As a fan, I reached the point long ago where I don't expect them to win a Championship and really do think that Jerry only cares about them remaining relevant so the money continues to roll in.
