The ridiculous assertion that Campbell approached the refs about his plan to subvert the rules is completely ludicrous. What ref would go along with such bs??

Why does anyone believe Campbell or his players who lie for him? I am guaranteeing that Campbell will soon destroy his career and reputation.
Perhaps if he was sanctioned or fined, it would have sent a message to him and others in the league that are scheming rule subversion that it is not going to be tolerated. Sociopaths almost never learn from experience and need to be reigned in.

My only remaining question is, why didn't the Dallas defenders vehemently protest right after the catch?.....the 2 closest defenders merely hung their heads down and accepted defeat.

One would think that if they truly knew he was ineligible they would have been losing their minds and rushing to tell the officials......if they did, I sure didn't notice it.

They probably assumed it was their mistake. Possibly each thought the other blew his assignment.

Tell us what it was Campbell was fined for, just curious? It does not surprise me though.
He hasn't been fined, but he should for blatantly running out three offensive linemen to report to the official when it should have only been the O-Lineman who was the eligible tackle. It was a classless act on Campbell's part and it shouldn't be allowed in the NFL. Officials have a hard enough time trying to call a game without some idiot coach playing the shell game with them.................

Agree 100%. And i just read something from Jason Kelce saying the Eagles do something similar which I have never seen. If that is the case Kelce and Sirani are a bunch of crooks as well. These plays should be outlawed. No team has a right to obfuscate and to deprive another team of knowing the eligible receiver. If there needs to be an addendum to the rule to prevent scumbags from cheating so beat it. And it should include any coaches or players that participate in plays that subvert rules will be sanctioned, fined, and even suspension.

I will write the addendum to the reporting rule: Only one player can approach the official when reporting. This player has to report both verbally and has to sign and tap his chest to signify he is the eligible. Any player attempt to obfuscate, block, confuse, trick, or conceal the reporting player will be ejected from the game and will be subject to fines and even suspension. Any such play will also result in coaching fines as well.

you have to go up to the ref which 68 did, 70 didn't, makes no sense for 70 to report eligible and then line up in an ineligible position on the line as Aikman stated after the game, ref had a brain fart and assumed it was 70 reporting since he reported numerous times during the game..
Except in the video the NFL released shows 70 rubbing his jersey and holding up an arm as he was running on the field.

I'm too lazy to look for it. It was posted on youtube and someone broke it down to show 70 making the signal to report.

"He reported!"

"No, he reported!"

"No he didn't, he did!"

"I am Spartacus!"

That's what the Lions and the anti-Cowboys propagandists sound like over this issue.

The point was obviously to confuse Dallas, but deception and illegality aren't automatically the same thing. It's illogical to say they are.

How in the world does it make sense to think they would intentionally do something that carries such an incredibly high chance of backfiring?
It doesn't make any sense but neither does Dan Campbell going for the two pointer three times instead of kicking the field goal.

Campbell in his anger intentionally lost the game for them

didn't happen..
I could care less who reported and who didn't in the multitude of guys the Lions sent to talk to the ref.
All the Cowboys needed to be concerned with was who they were told was eligible and that was number 70 over the PA system
If for some reason the lions were not happy with who the referee announced as eligible over the PA system they had every opportunity to go over to the refs and change it and have it announced properly but they left it to try and be sneaky and it backfired on them.

The Cowboys covered the player that was announced the Lions threw it to a player that was not announced so the Lions are in the wrong for not making sure the player they were going to make eligible was announced to the defense.

Dallas had the right to know who the eligible receivers were on the 2 point conversion. Plain and simple.

Plays conceived to break the rules are not fair, devious, unscrupulous and the NFL should consider sanctions and fines going forward for such.

As the world turns, everyone is aware we are becoming as a world more unscrupulous where the ends justify the means and the NFL is no exception. Rules need to be modified to prevent unscrupulous coaches from winning by fraud.
Jerry has never hit a nail in his life !

it wasnt announced on the pa system and it was so loud there lions must have not heard it or they wouldnt have thrown it to 68.
I watched again and did not hear it, had it up loud and no announcement.
On the first play the lions were not going to run that play. 68 backed up to block but a penalty caused a do over .

The lions messed up too with the reporting, but brad allen did not clarify with the lions and they had talked before the game about that play.
And no one heard that announcement, the nfl cannot produce video with audio of allen announcing that.

Also why did it take 10 seconds to throw the flag when there were several things they should have thrown flags on if decker was not eligible.?

Pretty sure they have already shown it was announced on the PA system.

Yeah, before this fiasco I was a Campbell fan. Now, I don't know. This was a major clusterfudge and simply unnecessary. If you can't beat teams playing them, get better players, or schemes or whatever. Playing 3 card monte in an NFL game is chicken poop, as well as being foolish and lacking class.

Lol, it was a two- point conversion.

You make it sound like a Mexican drug cartel infiltrated AT&T stadium.

Drama. Lol

Completely and absolutely unethical. Play within the rules. Don’t subvert the rules. This really is not too complicated. What goes around comes around. Campbell may or may not be an unscrupulous person, but if we see more of this it will be clear this guy is a sociopath. Talking about biting peoples kneecaps off when they are down does not strike me as something that a scrupulous person would say.

Hard to believe could have been fixed in our favor.
Or do those reps just suck so bad that they shouldn't rough another game in the NFL especially having been told about the play ahead of time.
I was under the impression that it was announced over the PA system and that was common knowledge but I stand corrected if that did not happen
