Jerry Jones just said he is all in on just getting 3 players instead of 1 top player

It's because we know that we need a legendary roster if we are going to ever get over the hump...

However many All pros we had, we need twice as many if our current QB and coach remain the same.
This.
Exactly this.

Start watching at about 6:30 seconds Jerry said say a top impact free agent is available but you could get 3 players for the price of 1 in free agency, Jerry is all in on.getting 3 cheaper players than one super star impact player, SO NOTHING HAS CHANGED

3 average low price players. vs. one difference maker.
what a GM....what a guy!!!

If you put Chris jones on this team they would be worlds better and it may be the thing that gets them past the divisional round hump and makes them a legit championship contender on the San Fran level. He’s that good. Him or Micah would always be single teamed. Run d gets better, your line backers get better immediately, even if they sign jags.

Brian burns not as much for me but Chris jones is generational. It’s a Haley /deion move. So yes Chris jones + draft + cheap vet linebacker >>>3 “guys”
We may have to sign 7 new starters and carry Dak's massive cap hit but we are better if we a DT to a $32M free agent contract. I disagree 100%....and I'm not ignoring Jones's impact/talent but for this team, at this time, he and his $32M will not be a good fit.

In essence when you read between the lines, Jerry Jones is always impressed with his own work. Despite winning 4 playoff games in three decades, he is impressed with himself. And as he “runs it all back“ for 2024, he expects us to be as well.

Meanwhile 31 other GMs are worried about putting a better roster together to at least get close to winning a championship. Because they know if they don’t within a certain amount of time, they will be gone. Meanwhile our GM and giggling son have lifetime gigs. What’s the hurry?
The problem with this team is Jerry. Too proud and egotistical to admit mistakes. Hence overpaying his own guys for the better part of 2 decades.

The trade for Lance is a perfect example. You traded for the guy, wasted a 4th rounder for a guy who may never even see the field, when the quality of this draft is in the mid rounds. He’s never forward thinking.

There’s no better time than right now for a Chris jones signing…I’d argue if you’re not doing it now then you never will. Three straight playoff seasons ending short. They need an infusion of talent as they aren’t good enough, not just starters out there.

You can add 2 new starters through the draft between o line and rb and a sign a veteran line backer on a cheap deal that’s half your starters already filled.

it's almost as if the Jerry Jones way has rubbed off on many fans
Jerry's way has nothing to do with it........what he is saying here is reasonable and makes sense for the team at this time. Way too many holes to fill than investing a massive free agent contract into one position. Not to mention we may have to eat Dak's cap hit......

If Jones signs 3 average starters to go with the All-Pros currently on the team, that could work out better. What good is having another All-Pro when you put below average starters around them? Gotta have those lunchpail guys with some nasty in their game.

You get elite talent and then fill in the holes around it after it’s acquired not the other way around. You don’t let having to fill other needs stop you from acquiring generational top end talent. To do so the other way is just backwards

It’s even worse when Jerry says it in a way like the cowboys discovered a new concept - it’s just math and every team in the nfl understands how many regular players you can fit into one elite players salary. There’s a reason why most of them if possible and presented with the opportunity take the generational player.

The cowboys have been Doing it the “4 quarters instead of a dollar” way for about a decade…it hasn’t worked. To their credit they’ve drafted well which actually adds substance to why they should go for a game changing talent in free agency when they have a solid foundation already and have been good plugging in holes through the draft. Take the shot when you have a chance to field a team that can compete. The cowboys have a chance to compete for a Super Bowl, leave the half measures at home.

All In ... the BS again ...still is more like it.

I knew nothing would change. As I been saying. Not at all excited about FA or the draft at this point.

Then again, is this just typical Jerry speak. Then again Jerry speak does not work out either.

The problem is he doesn’t go middle tier. He could literally go Gus Edwards, Grover Stewart and Willie Gay Jr. Boom. 3 positions with major upgrades at RB, DT, LB. Leaving your holes into the draft as Center

The problem is he wants 3 guys like Anthony Barr, Neville Gallimore etc and thinks it’s upgrading

Any chance he realizes what our needs are and instead of signing a top free agent who may be a pass rusher or CB or WR, instead he signs a starting LB, a starting DT, and a solid veteran RB. None of those 3 have to be the top player on the board at their position, but if they fit what the Cowboys want to do and are an improvement on what we did last year, we will be a better team.
In the draft, we will go OL, and probably another LB, DT, and RB, but we won’t be putting our success on how fast a rookie is ready to start on defense.

Exactly this. It’s not a a question of top end talent vs 3 solid players or 2 mid tier players. It’s a top end talent vs borderline starters question

It’s where the team is at. They made this mess and a Chris Jones splash would be nice and it would help. It just wouldn’t be enough with the holes piling up at LB, DT, RB, now 2 spots on the Oline, CB, WR. And a QB contract that isn’t helping any of it. Expectations are spiraling out of control at this point.

people quickly forget the three bargain signings failed but the high dollar signing that doesn't quite deliver lingers.

that's what that is all about.
