Cowboys game tickets, concession sales and parking are that expensive because people will pay it. It's the free market at work.if millions of you would join me in not spending a single penny on the Cowboys prices would go down.
Corporations are paying it so they can entertain clients and a perk for employees .

It's not about attracting Diehard fans.

Well of course if you want a ticket without a seat Jerry provides the Party Pass where you might can see from a big screen .

Cowboys Stadium was not built to provide a home field advantage with diehard fans.

Ya'll do realize it's called the Hall of FAME, right?

And you do realize the man in question is not only the most famous owner, but easily one of the most famous figures in the NFL, period.

He will definitely get in.

NFL's annual revenue was $943 million in 1989. Today its $18 BILLION. So yeah without a doubt the NFL is in a better place now than it was before Jerry Jones. Now, is Jerry the reason for that? Most definitely not. But it is unquestioned the influence he has on the NFL and how widely regarded as one of if not the most powerful owner in the NFL. And its not coincidence that the massive growth of the NFL occurred with him being a powerful owner. You can hate him, hate his GM decisions, but in the NFL his is without a doubt a HOF owner.

Note: Jerry Jones is a HOF candidate as an owner, not GM.
Maybe he should be in the fortune 500 hof not the nfl HOF ?
aside from helping them make more money what has he done??
He helped rams move back to LA, but what else??

The only reason Jerry is getting is nominated is because he is the owner of the Cowboys. Joe Schmo could have been owner of the Cowboys...and Joe Schmo would be geting nominated.

The fact that guys like Gil Bryant or Tex Schramm aren't being discussed is disgusting. Jerry taking credit again for someone elses hard work....Just like when the Cowboys won Super Bowl XXX w/ Jimmy's team. But Jerry and Barry did it "Their way"
First of all, Tex Schramm is already in the Hall of Fame, so he wouldn't be discussed.

Joe Schmo huh? Got 2 names for you. Clint Murchison and Bum Bright. They did what you just said Joe could do, namely owned the Cowboys. To my knowledge neither of them have ever been nominated for the Hall of Fame.

Really bad post man.

I stand corrected on the Patriots naming rights and ESPN startup (He did however help put the clamps on ABC and every other network forcing ESPN to up the ante for Monday Night Football. And, for the sake of honesty, who do think was banging the table on the television committee? Modell? Bowlen? Come on .

However you couldn't possibly be more wrong about when and how Jones sold the naming rights to the stadium and field. Texas Stadium was actually Pepsi Stadium and the playing field was Nike Field LONG before Jerry World was built (I want to say it was in 93-94 maybe?).
Monday night football on abc was great for many years, (for the fans) moving that to espn might have made money
but it was bad for the fans.

Another example..just because it made money doesn't mean it was good for the game. Some people just don't get it. All they care about is greed.:(

During the Golden Years of MNF, you are correct. Toward the end (on ABC) it was a **** show. It didn't improve when it switched to ESPN (I'll give you that) but the NFL made a ton more money from it. In the end, the fans ended up with an inferior product but that's not on Jones or even the NFL. The networks have a responsibility, there.

It's a brilliant - the Mara's and Rooney's would like nothing more than an emboldened Jerry screwing up the Cowboys for another decade.

And others will assume ANY position as long as it gives them a platform to whine like a *****. Thanks for being their poster child.

You are confusion roles Owner and GM. I don't think you will find a single person who will say Jerry Jones the GM should be in the Hall Of Fame. His contribution have been to the NFL as a whole not just Cowboys

The positions are inextricably linked, he is a terrible Owner GM, as have been all the other hybrids in the salary cap era.

Well I dont care if he gets in or not, I do wonder how it will affect him, just being nominated.
Will he now be more hands on with the team? Try to make some big deal? or will he do less, or be the same?

And you had to pay $$$ just for the right to purchase tickets...If I remember correctly. Talk about sticking it to the average Joe.

obligation actually, paying the absorbitant PSL fee locks the buyer into buying season tickets every year because no way you pay $50,000 for a seat license and then walk away from that up front cost. At Texas Stadium, the seat licenses were bonds so you got your money back, the PSL's are a cash cow for owners because they never have to pay them back.

My dad is a CPA and used to have season tickets on the 40 hardline about 20 rows up at Texas Stadium. To get two of approximately the same seating at jeri-world, he was going to have to pay something like $150,000 up front and then almost $10,000 per year for the tickets.

He passed but took the info home and broke out his ten key and figured that if jeri was able to sell all of the PSL's at the price he was asking, he would have made almost 1 billion dollars after paying off the stadium in full. We dont think he sold out all the PSLs but there's a good chance he made as much or more than the stadium cost just off the PSL fees.

Its too expensive for fans not to show up or sell their tickets and they cant walk away from the PSL fees thus why they have absolutely no leverage in influencing the jeri clan, they have piles of *** money, the stadium is paid off and they love to play with their toy, Hopefully they'll figure it out some day

Clint Murchison, the original owner of the Cowboys, instituted the early concept of PSLs when Texas Stadium was built. Each person buying season tickets had to buy a $250 stadium bond, which were issued to pay down the cost of the stadium.

If you want to blame someone for the usury concept of PSLs, blame Murchison for starting the ball rolling on this.

Bid difference between a bond and the PSLs, at least you got your money back with the bonds plus they were tradable (we bought and sold them as the market fluctuated).

But I dont blame any of the owners for selling PSLs with horrible terms, I blame the buyers.
