Sucks that you got priced out but spare me on the great home field advantage at Texas Stadium. That crowd was lame too in comparison to what you see up here in the Northeast. I distinctly remember Darren Woodson giving fans advice on how to act within the game during their run in the 90's.

this is true, it had its moments to be sure but it was a pretty subdued crowd for most games, I think the Landry years spoiled everyone so the fans weren't as hyped unless the game really meant something

obligation actually, paying the absorbitant PSL fee locks the buyer into buying season tickets every year because no way you pay $50,000 for a seat license and then walk away from that up front cost. At Texas Stadium, the seat licenses were bonds so you got your money back, the PSL's are a cash cow for owners because they never have to pay them back.

My dad is a CPA and used to have season tickets on the 40 hardline about 20 rows up at Texas Stadium. To get two of approximately the same seating at jeri-world, he was going to have to pay something like $150,000 up front and then almost $10,000 per year for the tickets.

He passed but took the info home and broke out his ten key and figured that if jeri was able to sell all of the PSL's at the price he was asking, he would have made almost 1 billion dollars after paying off the stadium in full. We dont think he sold out all the PSLs but there's a good chance he made as much or more than the stadium cost just off the PSL fees.

Its too expensive for fans not to show up or sell their tickets and they cant walk away from the PSL fees thus why they have absolutely no leverage in influencing the jeri clan, they have piles of *** money, the stadium is paid off and they love to play with their toy, Hopefully they'll figure it out some day

Sickening...

A friend of mine made the following statement and I agree with him:

Jerry Jones is a first ballot HOF'r but the same rules should apply. No less than 5 years after you retire from the NFL.

I get the disdain for the last 20yrs without a championship or consistent annual run made by the Cowboys...BUT, there is NO WAY that any football fan let alone a Cowboys fan can say Jerry Jones isn't deserving of being in the Football HOF.

He is a finalist as a CONTRIBUTOR...not a Coach or GM. There is no denying his contribution as a 3 time SB winning owner (first to ever receive them in a four year span) and a branding maverick and an influential owner. He is one of the faces of this League like it or not.

I hope he makes it in and that this season is magical for "our" team.

There are some ticked off people in Denver right now who think Pat Bowen was far more deserving than Jerry ever has been...

Pfft.... He doesn't even remember what he did for the NFL.

O.K. I can only stand so much ignorance before I speak up. Jerry Jones has single-handedly changed the way that the NFL markets itself and it's brand. There wasn't even a concept of selling naming rights to your stadium until Jones did it (and fought the league to do it). That ONE single thing has generated, literally, billions of dollars into the NFL economy. He didn't stop there. He went ahead and named the rights to the field, itself. He helped spearhead selling game rights to ESPN (which started as a a Sunday Night Football and parlayed into a much more lucrative Minday Night Football deal). Ditto for not only the NFL Network, Sirius NFL Radio, and the NFL Sunday Ticket (which was originally conceived by Jones to be a Cowboys only ala carte deal broadcast on a Dallas Cowboys nationwide network and the league jumped in to get their cut of the idea and the pie). He spearheaded the way for owners to generate revenue beyond what the league was allowing them to do beforehand (he sued the league to get it done and won opening the gates for every other franchise to generate their own revenue streams).

This nomination has absolutely nothing to do with the success of the Dallas Cowboys, so you can take your butthurt and slam it up where the sun doesn't shine. It's the Pro Football Hall of Fame, not Floaty's Shallow Shrine of Pity. Jones has been THE leader of the pack when it comes to growing this league's popularity, marketability, and exposure. Every single owner that builds a 1B+ stadium, every fantasy football league business that generates millions upon millions of dollars a WEEK, and every UFA that signs a multi year multi million dollar deal needs to thank the lord for the opportunity, thank their momma for giving them birth, and then promptly attach their lips to the *** of Jerry Jones because his vision and leadership made it it worth billions more than it would have ever been without him.

Your whinefest changes absolutely nothing about any of that.

Outstanding!

Really people are arguing that Jerry shouldn't be in the HOF as a contributor? Haha that's laughable. Say what you want as a GM but as an owner and contributor he deserves 1st ballot no question. To say otherwise shows your hatred to the man and not his accomplishments for the league

You really think that? Ask yourself this...Is the league in better shape now than it was 27 years ago? I'd say it's not even close...how poor the quality of the league has become. It's not even football anymore. With all the rule changes...to the game and the way practices are being handled...It's not even professional football anymore. Players don't practice. Don't hit. Are over paid...and the quality of play on the field is @ an all time low. It's seriously got to a point I won't shell out 250.00 a year to watch on Sunday ticket. That I know for sure. It's become the WWE for all intent and purposes.

And all of those downfalls you mention has nothing to do with Jerry...but all the revenue and TV rights and such, came from Jerry's influence. Many of those changes were from the players and the CBA. Others from an injury / healthof the players, like preventing concussions, or at least limiting them.
Jerry can't control all the changes.
Please don't let you hate of Jerry get in the way of what is well deserved.

Hey, I don't like Brett Favre all that much, mostly because he played for GB, more so because of all the slobbering a few announcers love fest they had for him. But dang, he really deserved getting elected to the HOF...Can't deny that at all.

Yes

And we're happy about this because why???

I'm not happy or sad about it. He has made a positive impact on the league. I don't have any issues placing blame on him for his role as GM as for an owner and his contribution to the league he has made a positive impact.

One reporter that commented a few days ago on Jerry's nomination a made sure to mention that it was strictly as an owner and NOT a GM that led to that nomination. I had to laugh upon reading that, since it seemed so timely and appropriate to me. It's all good, though -- lol. ;)

Maybe Jerry will start hanging #1 Revenue Banners.

And gear to follow . Who cares about the revenue and if there's a team in LA, stadium sponsors , etc.

We just want an owner who places our franchise in the best position to win football games.
Period !!!!

Maybe he should be in the fortune 500 hof not the nfl HOF ?
aside from helping them make more money what has he done??
He helped rams move back to LA, but what else??

List of JJ accomplishments as an owner:

- 3 time SB winner. While that may have been 20 years ago, but that still happened and hugely impressive accomplishment on its own. An accomplishment that could be HOF worthy.
- Spearheaded a new era for NFL stadiums. Jerry World was the 1st stadium in what now can be considered a new era of stadiums. It set a new standard that now every team has to follow. Even a smallish market team like the Vikings had to build a billion dollar stadium.
- Led NFL back to LA (as you previously mentioned). This cannot be ignored though. It has always been weird that there wasn't a NFL team in L.A. This was a huge win for the NFL.
- 2014 NFL Executive of the Year (Lol, j/k...but I know that line would boil a lot of ppl's blood).

In addition to that you cannot ignore the financial impact he's made to the NFL. There is no owner that is more of an asset to the NFL than JJ. And although fans and posters hate this part, the NFL is a business and a business job is to make $. And the decisions that NFL has made over the years have led the NFL to become unquestioned king of all sports right now and a big time billion dollar business. That is the wide scope of impact JJ has had on the NFL. When you combined all the areas JJ has impacted and contributed to the way the NFL works today, he's a HOF as a contributor. (Since NFL allows for owners to be in the HOF).

This new contributor nomination was added in 2015 to the HOF. I bet Jerry had something to do with it as he knew he might not ever get in otherwise.

True and if the Owners were not making the big bucks they players would not be getting paid as they do.

The league itself cares those who are fans of the NFL care. These moves only help make the NFL stronger. No one is saying Jerry is a great GM but his action within the NFL itself has benefited this league.
