Me too. My fandom is on cruise control. There is no need to get excited about this team anymore. Knowing that Dak will get an extension and knowing that he will be the QB for years to come, kills any slither of hope that I may have had for the future. Seeing the teams lack of reaction to an opposing player disrespecting the star showed me that they have no pride or respect for themselves, their team or the history of this franchise. Let’s face it, the current Cowboys are gutless wonders. How can fans continue to support this mess? I am not going to change to another team, but I will not spend a dime to support the Cowboys. I am not wasting anymore time watching this garbage .

Garrett will likely remain head coach in training too...

Jerry clearly grabbed the whiskey bottle instead of the coffee mug again.

This actually makes perfect sense... Extend the young guy because he hasn't really been given a fair chance for development at the NFL level. Jerry knows it. I know it...

Then bring in a vet with an arm and solid decision making skills. Teddy Bridgewater perhaps...

& last but certainly not least, get rid of the three stooges (Garrett, Linehan, Moore)...

That's the logical way forward.

It's bad. We need a young coach in here like McVay and it won't happen. Dak might be better with a better OC, but these comments are disturbing. I've never been more frustrated with the Cowboys than how I felt last night. I'm tired of it.

Jerry is the guy that is attracted to dysfunctional relationships. Everyone on the outside knows they aren’t right for each other but he refuses to admit that. There are some flickers of good moments amongst the bad that he holds onto and makes him think “this is love”.

We are the friends. All we can do is look on helplessly from the outside and give advice that ends up falling on deaf ears. Eventually, we grow so tired of saying the same things over and over that we slowly withdraw from the friendship. It comes to a point where we don’t even care anymore what our friend does. The result is apathy.
Great analogy

Great post. I feel the same.

For all the "Dak is the problem" guys... You may very well be right but my question to you, who is coaching him? Who is helping him get better?

Jason Garrett? Scott Linehan? Kellen Moore? What's their history with developing NFL-caliber quarterbacks? What have they done to make you think they've given Dak all of the tools and knowledge he needs to develop and Dak just can't figure it out?

Throw in the the celebrity-worshiping and zero-accountability atmosphere that Jerry created here and I don't see any processes in place that foster development for Dak (or any other QB for that matter).

Dak has real issues. He holds onto the ball too long, fails to see wide open receivers, forces things, etc. Who's doing anything about it?
I get what you are saying, I do..and I agree.
But my gut instinct from watching a Dak is that he just lacks several things that the good ones have. I like him as a person. I like the fight in him. I see a guy who doesn’t trust his own arm and the more he thinks the worse he becomes. He may just be a guy with below average arm talent and below average instincts. He isn’t total garbage..
But he isn’t worth $25M per year....if you don’t have a guy worth $25M per year then you better be actively trying to find him.

Extended Dak would be the worst thing this organization has done since firing Jimmy Johnson.

We would be stuck with a bus driver for the next decade.

He’s a good dude though. And it sucks.

Forget the issues with his horrendous pocket awareness, the guy won’t ever be able to drive the football down the field, and his accuracy is shameful....

Could you imagine what Romo would be doing with this offense? I’d bet we’d be averaging nearly 30 points a game..

We've reached the segment in the program where Jerry doubles down on his stupidity to show everyone he's a "football guy"

Exactly.

I thought about this when I saw this comment. Through some awful years (late 80's, and early 2000's) I always had hope. I always had optimism that a brighter day for the Cowboys was just around the corner. And (as we saw in the early 90's, for example) sometimes it was.

Reading this quote from Jerry, I can honestly say this is the first time in my entire life that I have no hope for the future of the Dallas Cowboys.
A part of me died today. We are witnessing the slow, painful, death of a once proud franchise.

I'll root for them until the day I die but if Jerry is serious, I no longer have hope.

He is a senile old drunk and an embarrassment.

This is Quincy Carter Part 2. Remember when people laughed at the pick and Jerry double down trying to make him a franchise QB. He never learns from his mistake. This team is winning nothing with Dak as QB. And that goes for his stupid coach too. Tired of watching other organizations turn it around after a couple years with complete overhauls.

Until Prescott learns how to not lock into the first target and learns how to step into the Pocket, Aliens will have landed on Earth and we will have flying Cars.
Problem is, who is going to teach him?
The Carrot, who is still learning how to be a coach and failing miserably?
The scrub QB coach with zero coaching experience?
Seems like the only one that got through to Dak is now an NFL broadcaster.

Time for us all to cash in. Jerry, can you extend me a contract as a fan. Granted my fandom is not as good this year as it was in 2016, but I still have potential. You can pay me a lot less than Dak, say $200,000/year with incentives? I promise not to count against the cap.
