I'm sorry it would be stupid to trade a 1st round pick for a RB with 1-2 good years left. AP is an amazing talent but he can't beat father time.

When Peterson starts to decline in ability he'll still be a top 5 back easy.

He hasn't played much the last few years and I see that as a huge bonus.

Any other RB in NFL history I would be against trading for at this age but not him.

He's the most physically gifted guy to ever play RB or possibly any position in the NFL.

I'll take AP for 3 years and LOVE our chances of getting 1 Super Bowl out of that.

There is no other player I'd trade a first round pick for in the NFL besides Andrew Luck or Rodgers because I don't believe any other player, besides Peterson, put us over the top like he does.

This team is built for the long-term. We need to keep adding young talent. I'd rather keep our 1st and see if a QB is available who we like. Aaron Rodgers slipped to the end of the 1st. Drew Brees slipped to the top of the 2nd. Guys like Big Ben went in the middle of the 1st. We need to worry about getting our next QB than wasting a 1st on a RB who is 30+ and hasn't played in a year.

Romo has 3 or 4 years left.

I'm fine with taking a QB with our #1 pick at this point but Adrian Peterson gives us our best chance at a Super Bowl for a few years.

We are a absolute juggernaut with that guy.

If we trading high picks, I would rather trade a 2nd for Gio Bernard then a 1st AD. In Bernard we get a guy that would run for 1,500 behind our line, catch 60 passes would be on a
2nd round rookie contract for the next two years as opposed to paying AD 30+ million over the next 3

If he catches 60 passes are we spending next offseason complaining about Williams lack of production?

Sometimes the logic seems to be missing in this place.

There is no assurance Collins will be a savior this season.

But...

With Romo's age, the window is now.

With Question Mark and the Mysterians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Question_Mark_%26_the_Mysterians) as runningbacks,a bold move might be the final piece.

And, if this team is as good as most of you think, you'd be drafting close to the second round withj your first anyway. Why would you not push the rest of the chip into the middle for a two year window and a possible back to back?

This game is not about anything but winning. There are aspects which elevate that like cap management, making smart decisions, the right coaches. But ultimately this is about putting trophies into the display cabinet. It has been a long drought around here that this team has played significant games when the Lombardi is on the line.

Maybe it's time to grow a pair and bet it all.

However, I would have kept Murray. But Peterson will do.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Question_Mark_&_the_Mysterians

And here I was thinking that Jerry has turned it around.

In all honesty: with an improved offensive line, a revamped defense and an equal or better running back, this is a Superbowl team.

I'd just hate to mortgage the future to do it.

If this is Jerry going all in on the end of Romo's window I understand. I just hate the position it puts us in as we move forward.

A top ten pic, maybe. A 30th or thereabouts im not sure for someone of petersons ability.

I believe in him too, my only problem is the proverbial "if". If he gets hurt week one and is out on IR then what?

On questions about current Cowboys backfield:

Baldinger: "Let’s just start with Darren McFadden. I know Jerry’s always been smitten by Darren McFadden. Darren McFadden has never been able to make people miss. Ever. That’s why he’s been injured. That’s why he’s averaged less than 3 ½ yards per carry the last three years. 47 percent of his runs in 2014 went for less than three yards. 57 percent of his runs in 2013 went for less than three yards. You can say it’s all the Raiders’ fault and they just don’t have a good offensive line, and maybe that’s true, but that’s the resume that he brings. Joseph Randle, look, he’s had 105 carries in two years and he’s shown flashes of being a one-cut runner. His own coach at Oklahoma State, Mike Gundy, couldn’t figure out why he didn’t play hard every week and why he wasn’t a guy that showed up week-in, week-out at Oklahoma State. I’ve got questions about Joseph Randle if you think he’s going to be a guy, or the guy since he’s the youngest in that room. Lance Dunbar’s been in the league for three years, has yet to find the end zone. Ryan Williams has been in the league since 2011, was a high second-round pick of Arizona. He has averaged 2.6 yards a carry in four years, played in a total of five games. When Arizona needed a back desperately as the team was limping to the playoffs a year ago, Bruce Arians decided not to elevate Ryan Williams to the active roster from the practice squad. So I’ve got questions about Ryan Williams, five games in four years. That’s the running back room right now."

There's no guarantee Romo has 3-4 years left. And even if he did, there's nothing wrong with sitting a QB a few years. It works most of the time. Very few rookie QBs are thrown right into the fire, and the ones who are usually don't pan out.

Peterson would prolong Romos Career as Romo would prolong Petersons Career....the fit is perfect.

This!

But people will slay the messenger, which they have already done by bad mouthing Baldinger instead of looking at the message.

The fact is that if this team were to work out a Peterson trade, whatever the structure, they still could have kept Murray, someone who proved to all but the most stubborn of fans that he could be the bell cow running back.

And do so within the confines of the cap and still get Hardy and the draft and Collins. Everything which has transpired could have transpired and this team be assured they had a guy that can tote the rock.

Instead the Dallas Cowboys, a team that will be mentioned in the top echelon and be considered an out of the gate contender for this years Championship has under performers with huge questions about each.

But that is water under the bridge.

This is why I think Jerry has one more card up his sleeve, and may over pay to bring in AD.

And at this point, damn this gossamer future people talk about. The potential of a back to back and first to seven is more important than a late first round pick next season. All the pieces are in place.

THE WINDOW IS NOW!

I hate to be a pessimist about guys but we do not have our starting tailback on the roster currently. I agree with Baldinger.

At this point, just get a serviceable back JJ. Doesn't need to be AP.. Just someone else that these guys have to take carries from.
