Better watch talking about unbiased common sense...
You're right...I must have lost my head for a minute. Oh well, back to my Prozac.
Better watch talking about unbiased common sense...
If Goff is available at #4 and we don't pick him, we will completely regret it.
Maybe there will be 4 or maybe just 1...what I meant was who knows right now.
If you don't expect any of them to be another Luck, why not just buy an experienced QB from the Pats and be done with it.
Drafting a QB to sit on the bench is not what I call "smart planning" when Jerry thinks we might have a chance to get to the dance "this year". Likely we will not but, he's pulling the strings and spending his money so I'll just enjoy the journey.
All the more reason to act while you're in position to.
More speculation on your part. There's no clear indication that New England has any interest in parting with him, but in your desperation to not draft somebody this year, you'll make that 'your plan'.
Tell that to Green Bay. They only won a championship and found their quarterback of the present and future doing it, without that 5 years of failure we got to enjoy in between Aikman and Romo.
It's exactly the 'this year' thinking that keeps this team at .500, well that and an ineffective coach in training anyway.
Well from your own words and choice of teams... The Packers are who they are and who their coaching staff is...That says
a lot. Now look at the Cowboys and their coaching staff.... See any similarities - that's what I thought.
Maybe Dallas better
just draft OL and build that next "steel curtain" to surround Romo and keep him safe. We might have more success.
So you advocate never drafting a quarterback based on coaching staff? Just so we can all be clear on the case you're trying to make a.
"Steel Curtain" was the term used for the defensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
You can't count on anything when you roll the dice. You can always roll snake eyes... That's what I call taking a risk.
Look at all the cry babies that want a QB @#4, no matter what the Front Office says, it's like children running a muck.
It's pretty obvious this staff is just not ready to plan for post-Romo.
So it's pretty obvious QB is not at the top.
We will go after a FA vet to plug in.
Just as we always have.
Look...
in the last 5 plus years this staff couldn't get anybody to win as a backup.
We obviously don't have the staff to do that.
Kitna was the only one. And he won in spite of this staff.
So I highly doubt we want to take on a project like a rookie QB development.
We should leave that for when Garrett is replaced.
I see it more as the adults trying to have a conversation about how to best fix the shortcomings of the team.
If we added Bosa, or Jack, or Ramsey to last year's team, how many more wins do we pick up during that 1-11 stretch? Maybe 1 more, 2 max?
However, if we instead put Goff or Wentz on last year's team, I think we manage to do better than that.
Any time you change regimes, the QB can be a casualty. You see it on a lot of teams that have QB issues that happen to change coaches.
New coach comes in, wants his "guy".
I watched Wentz close in his title game and again at the Senior Bowl. He is not Luck and I don't think he has the field presence of
Mariotta from last year. I would not invest a #4 in him when you need Ramsey or Bosa in the defense. I could also make a case
for Buckner or Jack over Wentz.
It's pretty obvious this staff is just not ready to plan for post-Romo.

Keep this in mind...If we flop again this year and wind up in the top 5 again, there will be at least 3 more QB's we can draft in next
year's draft. I'm for rolling the dice with Romo this year to see if number 9 comes up. I think Jerry is too!
Prescott said in an interview that Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson told him the team was looking to take a quarterback.
There is not a case that can be made for any of these defensive players unless you are going to admit to them all having huge holes in their games. That doesn't fit the agenda though. None of those guys will be impact players in their rookie year.
The more I listen to JJ talk the more I am just irritated that we have decided to go this route
