Hell, forget Maclin, he has Jordy Nelson ahead of Dez, that alone destroys any credibility he has

That one, while I disagree with it, I can at least comprehend, since the stats are on his side for this year at least (although having Rodgers helps).

I have little doubt that the Cowboys are willing to work with any credible agent and CAA is a very credible agency.

Maybe. As far as I'm concerned, from 4 on down, those players aren't in Dez' class--no matter what the numbers say. I'd be very comfortable with giving Dez top-5 money for his position for a long term deal. The only issue I have all al with Dez is his back, which is something that's not going to be an issue until it's a huge issue at some point. I'd sign him anyway, but that's why I'd want a pay-as-you-go structure on the deal so the team's not crippled if he has to take an early retirement someday.

TY Hilton is indeed in Dez's class.

Dude had a 200+ yard game on 9 balls.

He really is something, Idg.

Did you see him last night?

If Dez wants to maximize his marketing potential, he should stay in Dallas. Dez might get an offer for more money from another team, but his marketing potential will not be even close to what he has as a Cowboy in my opinion. Oakland, Cleveland, Jacksonville, NY Jets just don't pack the same punch.

Although, the only football player I see on TV pitching products is Peyton Manning. A little of Sherman, but that is about it.

I think there's a argument for the Jets. They may like being in that NY market.

JJ Watt is in commercials, Rodgers' state farm commercials, Fitz, Luck, Brees, and Kaepernick are in Visa commercials. And those are just off the top of my head, many more than the 2 you listed.

Don't forget Goldilocks -- Clay Matthews. He has a bunch of commercials.

I think Dez wants at least top 3 pay, which is disappointing... yes, he does deserve it, but I was hoping he would take 2-3 mil a year off (around 9-11 mil). As pointed out in another forum dez can make more in endorsements, and helping dallas save money only help his chances at a SB... very disappointed in his narrow vision.

LOL

Yeah, let me know the next time you volunteer to be paid less than your worth to help a billion dollar company save money.

All in all, I don't think 11mil is that far from where they'll end up, and as usual, the only thing that matters is what's guaranteed.

I dont know if Jerry would risk losing Dez over an agent, what do you guys think? In my opinion Dez has earned every cent of his new contract, and I think he stays in Dallas. Im for it, i love Dez, and his passion for the game. Loves to win, and hes a beast when hes on. Hard to find that talent again.

I'm sorry but Im not buying it. I think the media is sensationalizing a story that they don't know anything about. Besides, Jerry really doesn't have a choice does he?

JJ would prefer negotiating the new Bryant contract with Parker as his agent. Nothing wrong with that.

Dez is a big, physical WR who makes some great plays. He has not proven to be a WR that dictates double teams, freeing up other guys. If a defense has a physical corner, that corner can match-up pretty well. Dez has good games and weak games, even with Romo at the helm.

WR's I'd take over Dez right now?

Calvin Johnson
Antonio Brown
Demaryius Thomas
Sammy Watkins

WR's I think would be an even swap, though possibly with different attibutes?

AJ Green
Larry Fitzgerald
Golden Tate
Brandon Marshall
Jordy Nelson
DeSean Jackson

WR's who may develop into better weapons?

Odell Beckham
Josh Gordon
TY Hilton

Our offense is a power rushing offense...that's what we've built, that's who we are and who most of us want to be. So, you need a guy who runs great routes, who gets separation, who can beat a double team with a great route and catch first downs. And you want another guy who runs great routes and has special speed and/or quickness to hit the home run with either the long pass or by taking a short pass to the end zone against a secondary giving up resources to stop the run game.

Dez is a special player due to his size, strength, and passion, but he doesn't fit either of those descriptions perfectly. He is a great performer who does not run good routes; he doesn't have great speed; he doesn't beat the double team or even a physical corner because he gets frustrated and doesn't focus on technique. He has very good hands, but sometimes reminds us of Terrell Owens with inopportune drops at the worst times.

He is a beast, and he destroys poor teams and weak defenses, but he also struggles at times.

No way I pay Dez Bryant 10 million/year or more. He's a special player, but you can't have the defense and offense you want with a WR making that kind of money who can be shut down by a defensive scheme.

I just think to myself, what could we do with $10 million to make this team better... and I could think of many more things than just signing Dez. Like I said before... franchise him next year and see about trading him for a few picks (including a first rounder) if worst comes to worst we have him for 1 more year, and if we do trade him we can replace him with one of the picks we get (there are going to be several good WRs to go in the 2nd as about 10 are considered top 40 prospects). We might take a step back on offense, but our defense will be thankful.

That's the $64,000 question isn't it?

This year he is ranked 13th in yards. In 2013 he ranked 13th in yards.

Last year he ranked 3rd for TD receptions and this year he is ranked 8th.

To me it looks like an argument could be made for Top 4-6 money probably in the neighborhood of $11-12m a year.

Keep in mind Jordy Nelson signed for $9.5m/year this offseason and Antonio Brown signed for $8.5m/year last year. On the other hand, the Dolphins overpaid Mike Wallace last season at $12m/year.

Yeah I think I'll take Dez over all of them. Pay the man whatever he wants.

Didn't Dez say in the offseason that he may sign for less money to stay in Dallas?

I don't remember hearing that, but, I want Dez to get paid his worth and that is top 3-5 money.

Plus, Dez needs to realize that he could be a legacy here in Dallas with #88 on his jersey along with Pearson and Irvin.
