I find it almost as unfathomable as Jones selling the team that they would not re-sign Dez. It opens up a another hole to fill in the draft/FA when you need Dline, LBs, maybe a RB and CB and likely a QB (a la Rogers/Farve).

But more importantly, Dez sells Jerseys. Also, Dez will never be more high profile than playing for Dallas, JayZ/Roc Nation (and LeBron) know this.

Jerry doesnt know what ROC nation is and that photo is not board appropriate.

Whats wrong with the Diamond Dallas Page.."diamond cutter" hand gesture? Is it that he is suing JAy-Z for illegally using the symbol??

JJ Watt is in commercials, Rodgers' state farm commercials, Fitz, Luck, Brees, and Kaepernick are in Visa commercials. And those are just off the top of my head, many more than the 2 you listed.

Yeah, I forgot about Watt and Rodgers. Also, Griffin and Orakpo. Although, other than a few players, and the few players only do a commercial or two for a single company, there isn't much opportunity for marketing. Or, at least I don't see it.

How much do they get for pitching Chunky Soup or Subway? And if you have a company, having an athlete advertise for you might be a double-edged sword. If one hates Rodgers and the Packers, how likely are they to consider State Farm?

I don't think a fan's hatred of a player would be enough to dissuade someone from paying a company if they offered the best price, although I could be wrong. I despise RGIII but still eat at subways haha

We lose Dez, welcome back the 5-11 seasons. Romo or not.

This team is doomed if Dez isn't on it? I just don't buy into that school of thought Frozen.

I don't view Dez Bryant as that kind of transcendent player.

The delta in production between a Dez Bryant and a WR ranked somewhere in the 15-20 range just isn't that great. Those guys are more likely to be in in the 70 catch / 1000 yard / 7-8 TD range, however, the delta between Dez's 90 catches / 1300 yards / 13-14 TDs certainly not the difference between winning a losing lots of games as you are inferring.

Guess what happens? Good QBs / good offensive system just distribute the ball differently -- they adjust.

There are plenty of example of what good QBs and great systems can do just fine without great / elite WRs. Look at Brady. Look at Rodgers despite in the past two years Jennings / James Jones / Jermichael Finley / etc being gone. The offenses just keep producing.

In summary I refuse to accept the gloomy prediction that Cowboys would doomed without Dez just like I refuse the accept the predictions often repeated here on CZ that if the Cowboys don't have Romo next year they are good for just 3 wins.

I could be wrong but the big 4 WR Free Agents 2015.

1. Jeremy Maclin, = coming of a injured season, what his value?
2. Michael Crabtree = huge Diva but again SF is forced to pay another player the big bucks...will they keep Crabtree?
3. Demaryius Thomas = broncos have a lot of high priced players..Thomas is worth every penny.
4. Dez Bryant = Great WR, not a speedster, has back problems but is a beast.

Will Jerry set the WR market or will he match the market price? IMO all these guys are good, and all have some type of issue.....but what is the going rate for a #1 WR. If Dez was let go, is there alternatives?

I want to keep dez I do think he is a top 5 WR but I don't want to pay him top 5 money. I would give him brandon marshall, jordy nelson type money but not calvin johnson, mike wallace, or Fitzgerald money.

He may be worth but that's a big hit for one position

Wes Welker??? Lulz. The guy who is having serious issues with concussions and is near the end of his career? Ummm no thank you.

I wouldn't pay Dez huge money. His production can be replaced.

LOL

Yeah, let me know the next time you volunteer to be paid less than your worth to help a billion dollar company save money.

All in all, I don't think 11mil is that far from where they'll end up, and as usual, the only thing that matters is what's guaranteed.

If I could make much more in another way (like endorsements ) and it would help me in an overall big picture (like helping build def for a Superbowl push) ur right I would... what does it matter if he makes 10 mil instead of 15 mil when he is pulling 20 mil in endorsements.... all it is, is bragging rights, and its selfish. (Although this is all speculation, I personally don't believe he is holding for the money )

I think Dez would be unbelievable if he had a golden armed QB throwing the rock to him,,,, and he would be an unbelievable waste of money if the Cowboys spent the next 9 years floundering around looking for a good QB. Tony will be gone sooner rather than later, I'd like to know what their plan is in replacing him. Pay the man if you think you'll have a good QB on the roster, let 'em go if you don't. I guess some luck will have to be involved

His impact on this offense would not be replaced any time soon. Those suggesting otherwise are either lying to themselves or just don't understand the game all that well.

You mean getting single covered by a rookie and shutdown?

It's easy to volunteer someone else to take less money. Actually, you could say it's selfish. Would you be willing to guarantee his entire contract in exchange for those "few" millions?
