In it's own way, 2003 was pretty exciting. And I've really enjoyed each of the last two seasons, if not for all the fan-complaining along the way. And I think the prospects for 2013 are pretty decent.
Admittedly, that's not all that much to go on over almost two decades, but it's not exactly 17 years of futility.

To each his own and that's cool you've enjoyed some of these seasons, but it seems like it almost always ends in heartbreak.

You've got a league of 32 teams, meaning with all things being equal, all teams have a little over a 3% chance of winning the Super Bowl.
Granted it may be kind of cool if all the other teams simply "gave up" and let the Cowboys win the SB more often, but as we know that's not how this stuff works.

- People are figuratively jumping off bridges over this story.
- Those that try to temper it are quickly dismissed or "corrected."
- Some question the context, but in reality the topic doesn't even include a quote to take out of context.
- The team gave UFA Doug Free a huge market contract 3 years ago, spent a 1st, 4th & 7th on the O-line two years ago, and signed two 2nd tier FA's last year.
- To this point there are NOT commensurate results, but its not like resources haven't been spent. It looks more like resources mis-spent at this point.
- BTW - few have been able to predict in recent years where the team will go in the offseason from stories like these. Is this story any different?
- also BTW - many were certain from earlier offseason stories that Gruden was all but signed, Garrett gone and/or his playcalling stripped. None of that looks likely today. And its pretty hard to deny the coaching staff is stronger today than at season's end.

The 07 and 09 teams did capitalize on it. They were legit SB competitors. The others did not.
You give the idiot too much credit. People were claiming "smokescreen" last year too and what happened? We didn't draft a single olineman in the draft. Same thing will happen again this year.jet_mech2003b;5007879 said:With the draft being near I sense smoke screens.

LOL Risen Star might have a heart attack reading this excerpt.johnnyd;5007831 said:Left tackle Tyron Smith is Jones’ only sure bet, but he liked what he saw at the end of the year from Doug Free and Jermey Parnell. Jones acknowledged the Cowboys “need more,” from free-agent pickups Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau in 2013, and he could see center Phil Costa as the starter “for several years.”
He also touted the futures of Kevin Kowalski and Ronald Leary.
