Said it countless times, his pathological optimism holds this franchise back in so many ways.

Nobody in the entire organization is going to question this outlook with realism. On the rare times someone talks sense to him and above all can make him understand, it is usually too late.

Look at Aikman. He continued to mortgage drafts to get him weapons when his back was shot. Then when it truly hits him, he panics.

And history shall repeat itself. It's not a damn debate

While I don't think Tony can play at a high level past 38 that's conjecture. You can't equate a bad back with broken bones. You can argue Tony keeps the ball too long but in his injuries the D is getting to him quickly. One could argue we don't handle the blitz well and many would agree. And this is a known way to play Tony.

What is not logically arguable is we need to develop QBs better and must pick up better backup QBs. What I took away from this mess is a good vet while developing a young guy. I could even argue we should have a two QB projects on the PS. At the least you might get a backup who already knows the system.

And we need someone to teach this line, RBs and TEs how to pick the blitz up better as well as play more max protection until we back them off the LOS and blitzing.

Good analysis but here's the rub. We haven't developed receivers who excel at crossing routes and pick plays. Now if we do and get a QB who
can get the ball out in 2 seconds, we might have a chance. That's Patriots ball and we don't seem to have coaches who can coach it?

Tony will play until we win a superbowl (I know, I know) then retire IMO. Whether that be next year, two years or three, Tony won't retire till we get there.

If you watch Manziel he is not that bad of a QB.

I'd love to have him here as a backup because I think he still can develop into a pretty good player but the lightning rod that he is with the media just makes it not worth it.

He is the type of guy we need when Romo goes down though.

I would love RG3 as well as a backup because he is mobile, and throws down field well.

If we're not serious about firing Garrett and not drafting a QB then I want a guy behind Romo that is willing to make plays with his legs because no other QB is going to consistently do well in this trash scheme.

No I agree and I think JF has "it" whatever "it" is. But the Cowboys are already a circus and I just think being a Cowboy would add way too much temptation for JF and he'd go on a non-stop bender.

Alexander made a great point about us needing to upgrade the WR position yesterday in one of his posts.

IF we're going to run Jason Garrett's scheme we really need 2 Dez Bryants out there. Maybe 3.

We need a super crafty #2 WR imo. Someone who is a smooth route runner and can also get downfield.

I like T. Will but with Jason Garrett as your coach we really need another elite WR.

Maybe we should spend some money on Alshon this offseason...?

the only reason JFF isn't on our roster right this moment is because the only organization in the NFL dumber than ours hasn't cut him yet. the second they cut JFF, jerry will sign him. if stephen tries to get in his way, papa jerry will lay down the law this time with his belt.

This is what I really want. In fact, I'm not sure if I want it more as a fan or just for Tony since he's taken so much garbage over the years. He deserves to go out on top!

I don't care if he thinks Romo has 4 or 5 years left he has to say that to justify the ridiculous contract he gave him. What I do care about is we draft a blue chip quarterback and fire Wade Wilson the next day and I'll be happy

As long as he spends a premium pick on a QB and hits on him, I could care less about the fairytale talk about 5 more years of Romo. At least when he goes down next time and he will, have a young guy PREPARED to play. If at some point he is good enough to take the job, them give it to him and have a great back up in Tony.

Jones obsession with a mediocre Manziel is bizarre.

Frankly, the fact Manziel has been mediocre on the field and a disaster off it and we drafted arguably a Top 5 OG in all of football instead should be more than enough evidence for Jerry to finally shut his ********* yapper about what he wanted in 2014.

I might understand it if we took Martin and the QB he wanted was Aaron Rodgers.

I loved Johnny Football at A&M and I'll admit that when it he plays in the NFL I usually try to tune in but he CAN'T play here in Dallas. Can you imagine the circus that would attract? I've had enough about Krakens, monkeys and stealing underwear. Anytime Johnny Football had a drink at a Chilis, it would cause a global nuclear meltdown in the media with Ed Werder standing in front of grilled fajitas as he reports on the circumstances. No thanks.

This is coming from a guy who wanted the Cowboys to draft JF in the first place. I can admit I'm wrong.

All the more reason why Jones would get him if given the chance.

He loves the circus.

"My dad was in the wild animal business, and had over 5,000 wild animals. And he always, no matter what, would hand somebody a card and said ‘be sure and come out and visit my monkeys.’
One of the most interesting things that happened was one time this monkey jumped up on the roof of a car … you drove through about nine miles and you go through monkeys and a lot of other things. No predators loose, but the monkey — the people had their windows down on both sides, the monkey hit the driver’s side, went through the car and on his way by a little girl pulled a bunch of hair out. Of course that was quite an issue and the talk of the Animal Paradise for months ahead.”

He is a monkey fan.

http://www.***BANNED-URL***/sports/...e-johnny-manziel-could-have-been-that-guy.ece.

"Do you remember two years ago when we sat there right to the last second on the clock with Manziel? My whole point is, there you are," Jones said. "That was the whole purpose of doing that. At that particular time, for a first-round pick, I thought that Romo had more time. And if we sat there and worked with Manziel for four or five years, now we all know what's happened. We know the off-the-field issues. But on our board, one of our top five or six picks dropped down to us and it was at the quarterback position, and I absolutely was a vote of one in that room to basically go there. And I understood why.
"I understood the risk that was involved. And we got a great player instead. But those are the circumstances that come up when you're thinking for the future. I was at that particular time, debating the value of him for the future as well as debating a backup."
