Shut up Jerry. SHUT UP.

No, Manziel could not have been "that guy".

"Do you remember two years ago when we sat there right to the last second on the clock with Manziel? My whole point is, there you are," Jones said. "That was the whole purpose of doing that. At that particular time, for a first-round pick, I thought that Romo had more time. And if we sat there and worked with Manziel for four or five years, now we all know what's happened. We know the off-the-field issues. But on our board, one of our top five or six picks dropped down to us and it was at the quarterback position, and I absolutely was a vote of one in that room to basically go there. And I understood why.
"I understood the risk that was involved. And we got a great player instead. But those are the circumstances that come up when you're thinking for the future. I was at that particular time, debating the value of him for the future as well as debating a backup."

He didn't know that Manziel had major, major issues at A&M? Last night on Monday Night Countdown, they acted like you had to be deaf, dumb, and blind to not know Manziel had issues prior to the draft. Wow, Jerry. Wow.

Jones does not care about the off-the-field issues. The days of putting someone "in the box" are over. He has a circus to run, no time for that.

Of course we will. Jerry loves lost souls and it will be too tempting to turn down the wild child that he had wet dreams about regardless of how mediocre a QB he is. Jerry thinks he can fix anyone.

So Jerry is probably thinking to himself, "If we had drafted JFF, we would probably have won most of those games that Romo missed and be in the division lead. I knew I was right--validation! No way I'm going to let them outvote me again. 2016 is going to be Jerry's draft!"

Funny you mention that - Skip Bayless seems to think we would've run away with the NFC East this year with Manziel as our back up.

Fisher's take:

As we monitor Manziel's future in Cleveland and beyond, know this: The Dallas Cowboys had a pre-2014 NFL Draft first-round grade on him. That grade was issued with full knowledge of his upbringing, his family life, his behavioral flaws and, most of all, his potential. ... That wasn't "Jerry Love.'' That was a scouting grade. So, do you give a first-round grade to a player you think is, ultimately, a scorpion?
The Cowboys are going to look under a rock ... and I think they should, and quite possibly will, dig up a way to take a real and affordable chance on Johnny Manziel.

Perhaps. I will say this, a lot of what is done is after Romo improvises and Manziel would definitely be running around.

Cannot say the same about Weeden or Cassel.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again..........

Weeden. Cleveland Brown. First Round pick. Sucked in Cleveland.

Manziel. Cleveland Brown. First Round pick. Sucked in Cleveland.

God almighty - here's the worst part of that..

Jerry was equally excited by Manziel's playing potential as he was his circus potential.

But nobody develops quarterbacks like the Browns. Their track record speaks for itself - see also Tim Couch.

Jerry being testy means Jerry knows he's wrong and getting drilled for it.

4-5 year is ridiculous. I'd give him 2 ..tops. I'm 45 and am sore regarding any workout I do. A guy going into his late 30s getting hit like he does will get hurt. The hit the other day wasn't even that violent. I'm hoping Tony retires and makes it on his own down the road.

Please leave Jerry.

Leave? Okay. Not what I would have gone with but it still works.

This is probably the best, most well thought-out write up on the Cowboys-Manziel situation that I've read to date. Whether you love him or hate him, worth a read.

On another note, here's what our draft picks are looking like. 5 picks in the 6th round.

"So all in all, here’s the current, final tally for Cowboys draft picks in 2016:

ROUND
1 Cowboys
2 Cowboys
3 Cowboys
4 Cowboys
4 Compensatory
6 Oakland + Cowboys
6 Compensatory
6 Compensatory
6 Compensatory

So if Dallas wishes to trade for Manziel, there is the ammunition to do so."

Tony (with a big push from Candice) I think will only play a few more years.

I am sure he's tired of all the injuries. He doesn't need the money. He has a big career waiting for him after football.
