Anyone linking the fact that Jerry wants fans in the seats no matter what to Jerry not caring about winning is trying too hard to read into what he said because of their dislike of the man.

Here's what he actually said when asked about fan apathy:

"Not with games like the other day. That's a show, if you want to look at it that way. Where there's due, we're there to win the ballgame and go forward and win the next ballgame."

Now, I wish Jones would realize he needs a real GM (his ego colors those glasses), but I have never seen a reason to doubt that he desires to win.

If some people posted what they have posted on here a year or two ago, there would be a pretty solid chorus of boos and a lot more strident defenders of Jerry Jones.

Now you just have some of the same people quibbling about semantics and calling things "much ado about nothing" when really all he has said is the obvious--which is he wants to win but he does not care if you do not like the way he is going about it.

I don't even think he cares if the team wins anymore. I think it takes second place to the "I'm going to show them I'm in charge mode." The angrier the fan base gets, the harder Jerry gets. I used to think he was a good owner and just a mediocre GM. I've completely changed my stance on that. I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth anymore.

Jones has a weekly radio spot and told listeners, in short, that he's gotten to where he is in life so he can call all the shots and not listen to anyone (via Charean Williams of the Dallas-Fort Worth Star Telegram):

Al Davis part II is in full motion.....

He is right. He is doing about the best job he has ever done being a snake oil salesman the last few years. That pretty much he means when he says "career".

He has done a much better job selling hope in these last three consecutive non-playoff years than he ever did in similar stages before.

It just convinces me even more that I should climb up on top of Jerry's ego and jump. Splat! Goodbye cruel football world.

Even Al Davis would tell anyone, the fans included, that winning was all it was about when everything was said and done.

Al Davis: Just Win, baby.

Jerry Jones: Winning is important. *

* - as long as it comes my way

“I would grant you the decisions that have been made over the years have not produced a Super Bowl, two Super Bowls or three Super Bowls that I would like to have been a part of. And the only thing I am going to do there is keep trying and then make sure I get the credit when we do get that one. Y’all are going to give it to me, aren’t you?" - 2/25/13

On WFAN in NY the other day a Cowboys fan called in and compared Jerry to Al Davis...and the host made an excellent point when he said: There is a big difference between Jerry Jones and Al Davis. And that is that at one point in time, Al Davis was considered to have a great NFL mind as a coach. He didnt just start out at the top, he worked at it and learned and was really and truly a very good NFL guy. Jerry Jones has never been that. Not even for one day.

He also paid his dues as a coach, general manager,AFL commissioner and then owner.

The league would probably have a good laugh about us crying about being .500 and controlling our destiny, toss the request in the trash and get back to work fining linebackers for clean hits.

True. For most organizations that would probably be the case. However with this one....well it's going on 17 years with 1 wildcard win.

So lets not put lipstick on a pig and call it kate upton, like you do so well

To Jerry Jones, the football end of the Dallas Cowboys is nothing more than a strategic business unit that ultimately serves the brand. Here, football nothing more than a unit of the organization much like merchandise, the stadium, or marketing.

Simply put, this is not a football-first franchise, and it hasn't been for many years. The Almighty Himself could hand deliver to Jerry the blueprint for winning every Super Bowl going forward and it would be trumped by the gold that only Stephen and Lacey could provide.

He absolutely said that. And the Op is 100% right. That's why I changed my avi. The heck w this clown. How can anyone support this guy? It's silly.

To have so much invested and fully knowing that the main guy in charge doesn't give a darn about anything other than taking your money...

No thanks. Not anymore at least.

Screw me once.....shame on you

Screw me every year for 17 years..?

I think I get it now

It keeps getting harder and harder to support this team. I was never in the "I hate Jerry" bandwagon, but enough is enough.

All you did was make up your own magical level of futility. Ask a Bills fan what it's like to miss the playoffs for the last 14 years.... the Cowboys aren't even close to any of the longest suffering fan bases. There is nothing special about this franchise, the fans, or the owner and all of these talks of "movements" to enact "change" because we can't bear to be 8-8 are a joke. We're not special fans and we don't deserve anything.

Lol buffalo is in a much smaller market. Doesn't have the appeal to good coaches or free agents. The fact that we are even comparing Dallas to buffalo or Cleveland is an utter disgrace. Do you ever here the Yankees compared to the royals, or the lakers to the bobcats?

And our 8-8 is very special. We blow leads and playoff hopes in spectacular fashion. We crash and burn like no other for all to witness.

Cowboys went 14 seasons without a playoff win, which is basically the same as not even going...so not sure what you mean. I guess getting there is a "moral" victory. You seem like that type of guy

I stopped listening after 4 minutes. My main point of contention in listening to this BS is that Jerry continues to make excuses and I hear no anger in his voice. I know he's a salesman, but at this point, show a little emotion - your team just got the **** kicked out of it, in large part due to your coaches.

Thats my take as well Sarge.

The problem I have is that Jerry thinks one of the biggest collaspes in team history is "an entertaining show"..................I was not entertained, I was freaking pissed watching the Pack come back.

Why is Jerry not pissed like all of us fans are?

Any publicity is good publicity as far as he's concerned. The negative publicity just get him more camera time, in which he gets to model the skills of his plastic surgeons and his 40 year old brain.

Hold on to your butts, fans. If he thinks he has been doing his best work as a GM in the last 5 years, just wait to see what the future holds.

There is no entertainment to the cowboy fans that have be dragged through the muck that is this franchise...but, I have said for a while that Jones doesn't care...if season ticket holders decide that they don't go to a game, SOMEONE will...they ticket holders will either sell their game tickets on line, or in the event that they just don't show up, what does jones care? he already took their money

it is a sad state of affairs that cowboy fans endure with this egomaniac at the helm...entertainment? come sit at my desk living in NE Penna every time we lose...EVERY eagles, giants, steelers, jets and NOW packers fans know where I sit and they make a point to come and find me....THAT is not entertainment to me, but it sure is to the Jones family
