Jerry Jones: Zeke was (picked) too high for us"

Pre-2016 Mock projections for Cowboys pick:

Walter Football:
"I've been mocking Joey Bosa to the Cowboys for quite a while, but only because Jalen Ramsey hasn't been available. They like Bosa, but Ramsey is the No. 1 player on their board. As potentially the best player in this draft, he would add a much-needed dominating presence to Dallas' secondary. I'll be shocked if the Cowboys pass on him, as they've already said they're not trading the pick."
ESPN:
"The news of DeMarcus Lawrence's impending suspension certainly would seem to make Joey Bosa the guy, but Ramsey makes sense because of the Cowboys' cornerback need. He is long, athletic and can make plays. He can play anywhere in the secondary. Oh, and if we're on the best-player deal, he's it."
CBS Sports:
"The Cowboys need help on the back end badly, and pairing Ramsey with Byron Jones would give them a huge lift in what's been a problem position group for years."
NFL.com:
"The Cowboys need a pass rusher in the worst way. They can't make the pick solely based on the suspensions facing Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory, but even with those guys back on the field the team needs a difference-maker up front. Adding a playmaker like Ramsey in the secondary should help improve one of the league's worst passing defenses."

This was always obvious.

Zeke had pull off a Tony Dorsett which was literally running the Ohio st. Buckeyes to a national championship. Dorsett did it for Pittsburgh in 1976 and Landry damn near messed it up until he change the offense and block scheme to suit his RB.

Jerry should be mad at himself wasting Elliott's talent by being a horrible GM with a puppet HC that did not use Elliott in the playoffs like Urban Meyer used him in the Big Ten championship, national championship playoffs, and National Championship game. Also Jones was cheap on the roster i.e. letting all the defensive players leave from the 2016 team, and letting go the only great trade he made in the last 27 years trading away Amari Cooper.

That is why I consistently call him Jerry Dumbo GM Jones.

The first post is what I was responding too. THAT poster brought up Dak NOT me. That isn't me bashing Dak at all. That is you jumping to conclusions.

Ohh just not just bashing Dak again.

Your welcome. SMH.
Where did he mention Dak?? He talked about Goff not Dak.

I don't care how many teams he has been on. He played better than Dak last year. All that matters to me.
OK, makes sense if you base analysis on only 1 year, Dak missed a lot of time and threw more ints. If you consider entire career though the narrative should change in my humble opinion.

Right here:
Yeah I didn't have an issue with the selection they needed an impact player that could be plug and play. When you say you wanted a QB which one did you want Wentz, Goff, or Lynch. I guess it worked out the Cowboys got the best QB in that draft class anyway and either the best or 2nd best RB.

I wonder why Calvin didn't understand what he said? I understood what he meant.
Because he knew which interpretation would get more traction/clicks/likes. He inserted (picked) and everyone ran with it. This thread is just one example.

If Robinson is gone if we don’t move up to get him, the more I look at it, would have no problem with Gibbs with the 26th pick.

Right here:
Your previous post did not have this in it. It only mentioned Goff having a good year last year. I still don't get the comparison to Dak on a Zek thread. Moreover, like a prior poster said., Why are you comparing one year??? Goff was mostly awful until last year compared to Dak's carreer. I think mentioning only caring about Goff having one better year then Dak is really irrelevant. His better year got Detroit exactly where??

Drafting Zeke doomed the Cowboys franchise for the next 15ish years and it has nothing to do with the RB position.
Meh... had Romo not gotten hurt I fully believe that 2016 would have at least made it to the Super Bowl. There was no juggernaut in their way that year. Drafting Zeke was absolutely the right move.. He was the most impactful player in that draft. I'm not going to blame him because the Cowboys wasted him at the peak of his powers.. with a little help from Goodell..

Jerry, some things are just better unspoken. Discretion is the better part of valor.

Add Zeke to the list of wasted opportunities.

Drafting Zeke too high came within a play of getting to the NFC championship during his rookie year. I can't help but imagine how different things would be today if the Cowboys had made it past the Packers and that 35 second window. They would have hosted the Falcons the following week.

If Zeke hadn't been suspended in 2017 then the Cowboys would have gone to the playoffs for three consecutive seasons during Zeke's first three seasons, most likely with a divisional playoff game in each. With three chances in a row, I believe they would have gotten one of them.

Zeke wasn't drafted too high, he was resigned too high. Jerry made his greatest mistake when Zeke held out. That was Pollard's rookie season. Pollard ran for over 100 yards in his 3rd career game as a non-starter. Zeke would have shown up in week #4.
