I think the "WOW" player will be another WR, whether through trade or the draft... I think the only NFL ready guy is Jackson from Cal, he's a good route runner and has excellent speed and good hands.

Then why mention Glenn coming back? They already have Stanback, and everybody is singing his praises. They just signed Patrick Crayton to a long-term deal. They can wait on a WR, and get Roy Williams next year. Wade has also said that he doesn't prefer drafting WRs in the first round, and Jerry agrees with him.

Further, if you get a player like D-Mac, you have added another dimension to the passing attack, not just running attack...

But you never know, Jerry can surprise us. He surprised us with Wade...

It would be interesting to know who the Cowboys have ranked as a) the top wideout in the draft, and b) the second best RB in the draft. The Cowboys could trade up without making a dramatic move to acquire McFadden. The move could be to acquire either another RB or a WR at a substantially reduced cost.

Something keeps tweaking me (besides the tax collector): Jerry Jones is almost too anxious to mention the need for a dynamic offensive player, though I think it is real. Could the Cowboys have fallen in love with one of the top defensive players and be running one of those famous smokescreens?

It boggles the mind.

What other back excites him? I mean there can't be many seeing as he left the combine after McFadden... lol

I do not see Dmac coming to Dallas. With the depth this draft has at RB, why pay the price it would take to get Dmac?

You can solve more than one problem by keeping the picks where they are.

Grab a CB at #22, then grab Chris Johnson at #28

then while we would still have our 2nd round pick, grab either the WR or CB

to give up 2 first round picks for a guy that I think would create alot of waste with either Barber or Dmac sitting the bench is nuts and besides that I think you could get comparable value with Chris Johnson.

He talked about the costs of moving up for McFadden, the fact that there are lots of RBs in this draft and a compliment to Barber is high on their list. He compared Barber to Irvin as an insirational leader on the field.

WE MUST SEE MORE:rolleyes:

i think some people fall too in love with barber's style of running. do you wanna get a better rb or do you wanna watch him smash heads with defenders till he gets hurt?

If you want to trade up to #4 (assuming McFadden drops to the there), it's going to cost both firsts and the second or both firsts this year and a 1st next year. How do people expect to get him without mortgaging the future?

Who is singing Stanback's praises? He's a project. He might be able to contribute on kick returns next year. I think he's a year or two away from contributing if he pans out.

Dallas only has two corners of consequence on the roster right now and one is injury prone.

It wont be for any of the top 3 picks...the Raiders are the first legtimiate shot IMO to trade up with. Because they've spent so much money (and may be spending more on Hall) they might really want out of the 4th spot, and could be convinced to take less that perceived equal value to move down. they also have the memory of the long holdout Jemarcus Russell had last yr fresh on their mind. KC wouldnt take McFadden at 5, so he could get to the Jets pick. If he gets to 6-7-8 a trade up becomes closer to pissible IMO.

That said, I really think the Raiders will just take him at 4, and if for some incredibly dumb reason they didnt, there's not much chance the Jets pass on him

totally agree. the guy just looks like marcus allen reincarnate. no way al davis passes on him with only justin fargas to carry the load.

I don't get why some people still think we are getting McFadden. The only way I see us trading up is if he is still around at #15 which won't happen. If the Browns would have been terrible this year than yeah of course we would be getting McFadden but I just don't see it at all.

We're a 13-3 team, with very few holes. However on offense and special teams, we lack a guy that can go the distance. I want a guy with a lot of wiggle and game breaking speed, Glenn was that guy - but we have no idea how his knee will be next year.

D-Mac obviously is a guy of that caliber but if he doesn't drop till 6, it's not going to happen - but if he falls to the Jets and they pass on him Jerry will have a hard time no pulling the trigger.

You don't see it because you think Barber is the next Emmitt Smith. You are probably one of those people who feel we should draft a WR and CB in the first when the fact is this years WR's are not that good at all. They may have seemed half decent in college but I would be surprised if 2 of them ended up being good #2 wide outs on an NFL team. Jordy Nelson is just as good if not better then all the WR's that will go in the first and he is projected to go in the 3rd round.
As far as CB goes Justin King entered the season as the best CB in the NCAA. His value has droped a bit because of character issuses but is still an all around better player then any CB comming out. The kid plays WR, CB and is a very good return man. We could also aquire Pacman and/or Hall via a trade and we would go from a horrible secondary to the best in the league.
The draft may be filled with "good" backs but wouldn't you rather have a "great" back? I mean Barber is a "good" back but I would have traded his numbers for Peterson's last year in a second.
I know alot of people say he won't be as good as Peterson but they have no reason to say that. I can honestly say that Dmc will be better then Peterson. I mean Dmc had a better college career in a tougher division and had better results at the combine.
I know you think it would be stupid to get McFadden since we already have Barber but was it stupid to get rid of Walker? NO but a lot of people thought so at the time.

Jerry's certainly not shy about expressing his thoughts on the subject.

It's so rare that it exists nowhere else in the NFL but in Dallas. That is:
a General Manager / Franchise Salesman.
Jerry Jones has always been excellent at 1 of those roles, but he's really coming into his own (finally) as the other. This is probably thanks to many years of humbling mistakes and the growing influence of the "voice of reason" also known as his son Stephen.

Whatever it is, bring on the WOW factor.

I realize there are a lot of smokescreens around Draft season, but Jerry has been tooting this horn since the middle of last season.

He first started talking about it at Romo's contract extension PC when he said that now, with a franchise QB in place, he would be able to go out and add players to surround Romo with talent. A few weeks later, he mentioned the phrase WOW Player for the first time, (as I recall) in the Packer's pre-game show on NFL Network.

Tonight I really didn't expect him to mention it, but he wasn't shy about using the phrase "WOW Player" once again.

You have to think he has a specific player in mind since he's openly discussed it so many times.

well, I am on the Desean Jackson bandwagon. We need a receiver!!! You all saw what happened when TO went down. There went our offenxe. Jackson is fast and has great hands. He will put on some weight, but there are others his size that have been good.
