They already have their version of Lance. This is huge opportunity for Wilson to pull his head out of his butt and reach that high pick potential.
For me, it's if he can stay alive or not.

The Jets will be looking for a Vet back up. Lance does not fit the description.
^ This. Not certain why New York would target any quarterback who does not give them the best chance of competing for the starting job and confidently help them reach the postseason. Unfortunately for them or any other team, starting quarterbacks on not grow on trees.

Wait a few games. Then let's talk about Wilson.
I’m not saying he’s any good, he’s been a bust, but so has Trey Lance. Wilson looks a lot more talented than Cooper Rush who doesn’t have near the mobility of Wilson or the arm.

I think they will make a move, they are all in this year. Overpay for a back up off another team. Winston (Saints)? Zappe (Patriots) Huntley (Ravens)

Maybe Stafford (Rams) or Murray (Cardinals) could come into play before the trade deadline if a deal could be done

Why must it be 'or something'? Jones has been asked to comment about numerous things, both conceivable and farfetched. He has long since become a soundbite goldmine.
I was simply asking a question. The way it was worded it was like it was a rumor the Jets want a quarterback. I assumed they go with Wilson.

It is quite common for rumors to get birthed into the world after a significant event happens. Jets secured Aaron Rodgers. They have lacked solid quarterback play and had very few holes outside that particular position. They were projected for a postseason berth.

Rodgers goes down. Instant speculation starts about what the Jets will do next to salvage their season. Trey Lance had already been a sensationalized story. 1+1 = rumor with a full tank of gas ready for a road trip around the sports media circuit.

Can he ever just answer the question?

"yes they have contacted us"
"no they have not contacted us"

Or do they always just quote half of his answers on Twitter?
If he actually answered, Cowboys fans would whine that he's giving away secrets.

I don’t see why they would want Cooper Rush or Trey Lance. Rush isn’t anything special and Lance isn’t ready to play. I’m sure they would prefer Wilson over either one of them. Wilson wasn’t great last night, but he led them to a win.
Plus - if the Jets' seaaon goes like it did in 2022, they could be in a good spot for the 2024 draft - that is predicted to have good QBs available.
Because of the Rodgers' season-ending injury, the Jets retain their 1st round pick I believe.

If their defense continues to play well, they may be able to stay afloat with Wilson. He’ll probably feel a little less pressure now that he’s a backup.

What a stupid question....

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked on @1053thefan if the Jets have reached out with interest in Dallas' backup QB Cooper Rush or QB3 Trey Lance:

"I can't imagine what it would be (to make that type of trade). But the facts are, just as they do, we could need Rush in a play. And we did last year. We did the year before. Boy, especially when you got all the promise we got, to compromise yourself with the depth at that position would be very unlikel
