The reality is that Barry Switzer, who was far down the list of 500, did coach that team to a Super Bowl.

And yet the BIG picture point here is based off of Jimmys players and coaches.

But now there is no current or previous foundational roster of proven championship level players assembled by a proven winning coach.

That’s why that blind squirrel found his nut that one time but seems pretty suspicious that it hasn’t come close to the same in a quarter century.

Public Perception of credit for the 3rd Super Bowl is somewhat overwhelmingly in favor of Johnson and thus, consequently triggered Jerry’s ongoing PTSD type ego withdrawal mannerisms

So maybe Switzer was right on the podium...
in trying to encourage Jerry in doing it “His Way” but I strongly doubt most saw it as a Jerry accomplishment

I mean bare minimum speaking at best, I guess his statement can be considered true

But not without the proper context

Reality is reality. Reality is not "I dreamed up a different definition because I hate someone".

Of course.

I was simply answering your question!!!

And MIA has major hopes for the future. W/ the draft picks they've piled up, if they get the right coaching staff in there, they'll be a playoff team in a couple years or so. And on the flip side, unless we make some big changes, we are on the way down.

Well of course! We’re ALWAYS on the way down!

I’d argue he’s been the same throughout . Jimmy was just strong willed enough to overcome him.

I was very close to the situation then as a fan traveling on the road staying at same hotels mingling with players coaches and owner, same busses caravan to the games and attending training camps as well as all the home games. . Jerry was just as enthralled as now. He just had a greater HC who brought in all of the right talent and held it together.

Maybe. But after Jimmy he would not let a coach bring in the talent.
That's the shame with Garrett, I think he actually figured out how to coddle the man-child owner, while not "losing the team" He just never improved at Game plan/in-game/clock/adjustments/situational management. The things that are generally most important in winning.

At a certain point, instead of proving that he can win his way, Jerry's going to expose the rest of the world to what we already know: Beyond the money, he had little to do with the super bowl run that gave him his legitimacy in the first place. At a party last week in NE, 4-5 people asked me if Jerry was always such an incoherent delusional mess. Never seemed to be a subject - it's usually smack talk about choking in January.
I have a relative who used to live in Philly area and he’s an e-girls fan. He says that all his fellow philly fans absolutely LOVE Jerry because he’s the best thing to happen to the e-girls. As long as JJ is doing things “his way”, the rest of the league knows they don’t have to worry as much about Dallas being that great.

Understood. I agree with much of that.

However, his unwavering dogmatic approach towards being acknowledged as a Football Guy is his narcissism. The world he lives in:
  • Media
  • Other owners
  • Coaches
  • Players
  • Canton
  • Even fans
--provided all the recognition they are willing to afford him concerning his football knowledge prowess decades ago. The level of recognition he has received to date is not enough for him. It will never be enough for him. Why will it never be enough for him?

Well, it is because he is a narcissist.

This.
It really is this simple.

I no longer can invest myself financially or emotionally with a team that’s not making every effort to win. But I do find comfort in talking about it with other disgruntled fans and it helps venting.
Exactly what I was tryin to tell you in the other thread.

Campo is too busy being a part of the equally fraudulent coaching staff of my USC Trojans.

It's beyond my comprehension why Helton keeps his job. The new AD obviously is not well educated on Trojan football. Boehm is from that basketball schoo!, U of Cincinnati. I think he'll be gone in 5 years.

Colin had an interesting take on this today.

No outsiders means no new ideas and no innovation. Everyone in the building knows what Jerry likes and doesn't like, and behaves accordingly.

If it hasn't changed after 23 years of falling short I have little hope of it ever changing, even after Jerry's gone.

Jerry should be asked "By this logic, why even hire a coach?"

Seriously. The clapper doesn't pick assistants, he doesn't call plays, he doesn't do schemes. He has to run everything by Jerry that he actually does. If Jerry doesn't need a GM to do the leg work, identify the players and coaches to get, etc. why does he need a coach? Why not just do it himself? It really wouldn't change much.

Let's just let Jerry take full responsibility for the Cowboys and see how it goes. No reason to hide behind a puppet.

Well Garrett must do something, otherwise the players wouldn't be so high on him....orrrrr....hmmm.

I realize I've been bashing the guy, and I truly cant stand him, his antics are an embarrassment to the fan base.....

But I have to say he isnt THAT terrible as GM, although nowhere near qualified.

His problem is he wont bring in a real staff because he wants to do whatever he wants and be the face of the franchise. That alone completely undermines any coach, and no one worth their salt would stand for it or work for him.

Jerry has been the GM of the Dallas Cowboys for 30 years.

Does 30 years worth of experience not qualify him as a "football guy"?

We were all terrible beings in a past life and our Hell is to suffer Jerry Jones laughing into our collective faces until we break.
Now, that's the only thing that makes any sense!
Karma has been very bad to us.
