Drafting in desperation is bad, look at how the Gabberts and Ponders got drafted two-three rounds too early. Not that I consider ours desperate-yet.

Aikman had his when he was 26. But by the time his career was over, it was still a problem.

Unfortunately for Romo, at his age, and being an athlete playing a sport of collisions, he is not going to last 7 years. Hell, I hope he lasts next year!

Romo is going to have problems with his back the rest of his life if he does not take it easy.

And? He maintained it was still a concern until it ended his career. This was from a young man who had it.

There are alot of concerns but I don't think this ended his career if you do then that is your view. I don't think this team needs to run out in panic mode and get a QB when our fricken D line is beat to hell and we have guys pulled off the street to play. Romo procedure went without hitch, unlike Troy when he had his surgery he was playing 12 weeks later, Romo is going to have time before he gets back out there

Thanks, bro. So, Troy played for 7 years more. How old was Aikman when he had his surgery?

Romo is not playing for 7 more years after his.

I think our owner/GM thinks he can. In no time, he will be selling the idea that he is a "young 33" because he did not start for his first four seasons or so.

So in actuality Romo is just a shade over twenty-nine, at most thirty. Or something.

You ain't kidding, having a top prospect fall to us great I would take it but there are more pnders and gabberts out there than andrew lucks and going into panic mode getting a QB like that ends up costing you more in the end.

He's also got a family with a young one and another on the way. He is going to want to be able to pick them up one day.

Things like this will make a player look at their career mortality.

Actually, it is Troy Aikman's view. Direct quote. But continue on.

I read Aikman direct quote, sure there are concerns anytime a player goes in for surgery and yet Troy himself still played several seasons before he had to hang them up.

Doomsday101, read this post because Troy came out and said this himself. If I could find the article for you I would post it.

i will predict that if garrett is given an extension in the off-season (yes, yes, IMO it is likely if he stays), then we will pick a QB in the first 3 rounds

I read the post, I saw what Troy said and he still played at a high level after that surgery hell he played 12 weeks after surgury. I know you want Tony to hang it up I doubt he will and I do think he will be able to come back from it. If you feel different then that is you.

But Troy was a young dude, bro! Romo is 33 freaking years old. The difference in how the body heals between those ages are significant.

And he stated point blank, it was not the concussions that did him in, it was his back, one hit in particular by Tony Brackens. Aikman was 35 when he retired.

i give romo 2 more years (playing at a really good level), 3 if we are lucky
IMO that is the window to get a real HC/OC here and get something out of this crop of players

but i fear that is not meant to be

Oh come on now! Just stop that crap! You know me better than that. I'm a total Romo fan, you know that.

I'm more concerned about Romo and the Cowboys going forward. I thought this was a post about drafting his replacement? And, IMO, they need to put QB as #1 on their draft board.

I doubt RGIII will be playing 7 more years from now, I have said 3 to 4 more years is likely. His contract is 6 and have 5 remaining heading into next season. Does Dallas need to address QB? Yes in this draft no not necessarily and you sure as hell do not panic and take one for the hell of it there are some guys that are being claimed as 1st rd talent I would not give you a plug nickel for yet Dallas needs to grab one.

I'm sure Romo is as well and he has a better understanding than you do of what is going on yet you have him hanging it up based on what? Is there risk? Yes Peyton Manning has risk but I don't see him hanging it up matter of fact he just broke the NFL TD record after having major sugery on his spin around the neck. Does he run risk yes they all run risk.

I'm pulling for Romo to have a couple of more years, but, dude, the back controls your whole body! One good hit could cost him his job next year. Jerry needs to find his replacement now and let him learn.
