Jerry says he's not drafting a qb early in next years draft

The problem with this team is that it goes into every offseason with a boatload of holes to fill, picking up a QB comes with a cost to the short term prospects of winning unless they take a flyer in the later rounds.

I'm sure Romo is as well and he has a better understanding than you do of what is going on yet you have him hanging it up based on what? Is there risk? Yes Peyton Manning has risk but I don't see him hanging it up matter of fact he just broke the NFL TD record after having major sugery on his spin around the neck. Does he run risk yes they all run risk.

Based on his back. His back at his age, hell any age, controls your whole body!

And, I never said I wanted him to "hang it up". Show me where I said that.

Don't confuse me with ufcrules and his crew, bro!

i will predict that if garrett is given an extension in the off-season (yes, yes, IMO it is likely if he stays), then we will pick a QB in the first 3 rounds

Bite your tongue! Good Lord on that extension talk. I might jump, off the curb or something if they do that. :)

Yes and Peyton who is older had surguery as well but again I don't see him hanging it up I don't see his skills diminish. Does he run risk yes he does so do all players. I understand what the back does I also understand these guys are going to the best in the business they know what they are doing and do a damn good job. I had major doubt about Peyton yet I don't see any fall off in his game since coming back from his procedure

Paytons neck surgery was a risk. But, his neck does not control his legs.

Anyway, let's just hope Romo comes back strong next year, but, and IMO, his replacement should be a concern right now unless you want to go through what we went through after Aikman went down.

You want that, again?

and a bad hit and Manning may never walk again the narrow part of the spin he runs a major risk. As for backup to Romo we have a backup and no Dallas does not need to go into panic mode and get the next fricken Qunicy Carter remember that. If a top prospect falls and Dallas can get them great but I think you are going way overboard on this, Romo will be back he will have ample time for full recovery unlike Troy who rushed back 12 weeks after the surgery.

Winning? This team hasn't done any winning for 4 straight years. Time to blow it up IMO. The vets "window" on this team has closed. NEXT.....

Good, and he shouldn't. If a top 2nd tiered QB can't win, what makes you think a 3rd/4th/5th tiered QB will? That is unless we drafted a better QB, but the chances of that happening are so slim, I mean people don't actually believe HoF QBs are abundant, do they?

Solidify the trenches, then in a year or two use a draft pick on a QB. The fact is Romo's not going anywhere for at least 2-3 years, so it's not a must to draft one this year.

Yeah you're jut the guy who thinks Witten should be a part time player!

Fact is you don't know anything about his back. Stop talking in absolutes.

Afraid he might retire next season?

LOL

Maybe we could have picked up a QB with those TE picks we keep wasting.

Unless a top QB falls in the draft i don't expect the Cowboys to get a QB. Frankly i would rather see resorces used on DL and OL.

Yes, I think we have to rebuild the defensive line before worrying about who the next franchise QB will be.

It wouldn't matter if we were drafting No. 1 overall. Without better play from the defense, a new QB wouldn't stand a chance.

In the 1990s, we were very fortunate to be able to make some deals (and not have to deal with FA early on) and build a team around Aikman quickly, or else we would have endured some more seasons resembling his first one.

Obviously, we can't do that anymore, so we need to get younger, especially on defense, to support the transition of this team from the Romo/Witten/Ware era that's fast coming to an end.

Defense stinkage or not...it is never too early to draft a QB, and Jerry has never drafted a successful one. Aikman was Jimmy and Romo "was a miracle" as he said himself. With his track record Jerry should be drafting a QB every year...even a blind squirrel could hit on one in 10 years...or maybe not.

I'm a big believer in taking a QB in the draft every chance you get and frankly to me it doesn't matter where. I would especially be taking one in the low rounds every year...to replace your third round or practice squad guy. Lets face it, after a year you pretty much know what you have in your 3rd string or practice squad QB...if you see a 6th or 7th rounder better than your current why not draft him. Never know when you hit on the next Brady.
