It isnt JUST the qb.
Dallas has had inferior coaches from 2007 to present. That is a huge part of the problem.
Both dak and romo were 1-3 in their 1st 6 years as starter.
Dak hasnt played very good in the playoff games.
6 td's and 3 ints 87 qb rating
he’s now thrown for just one score in each of his last three playoff games.

Rodgers is a better overall qb than dak, and most other qb's.
he is 12-10 in playoffs has been to 4 champ games . that is 22 playoff games dak has been to 4 and lost 3 of them.

not saying it is all daks fault, bad defense for years, bad coaching, bad culture all contribute.
Sometimes a team can bring in a guy like rodgers, or brady , stafford, and they bring the culture a needed boost.
When Rodgers won the super bowl, along w/ a top 5 D they ran the ball a lot in the playoffs. Don't you remember that Starks kid? Ran the lights out to win playoff games. Big hero that year.

anything can be worked out on that front.

And I said he would have to want to come here, and if you gave him control of offense, call his own plays that would be enticing.
Playing in a Dome is a big plus too.
Also a weak div,
and on the most watched team in football.
Rodgers could probably ask for a raise from state farm if he came here. He would be a bigger star instantly.
so you really think Rodgers would come here, to play under McCarthy, whom he didn't like and got fired from GB.

what color is the sky in your world? both before and after the doobie you smoked

Even depleted, we would still have a better chance of winning w/out Dak holding us back offensively.Rodgers and Wilson both have the ability to make others around them better, unlike Dak.
did wilson make everyone around him better in seattle the past two years? he had Metcalf as well...

doesn't sound like your kakameimi theory is holding up

I see we are into silly season already. Would Rodgers be a huge upgrade? Of course. He wants 50 million or a quarter of the cap though. I dont know how any team pulls that off for starters. Beyond the obvious cap implications, Rodgers wants to win and has no interest in play for McCarthy. Neither of those things are going to happen here. If you are gonna dream, then dream big I always say.
lets not forget the theory that if a QB has 15% of the cap hit, then that team will not be able to win the superbowl, but I guess they like to make exceptions LOL

denver wash and miami dont have domes, are not big name teams and they play a lot of outside games in heat rain cold.
I think rodgers is tired of all that.
miami doesn't have dome...but do they need one!? dude....really where do you come up with this stuff

He said basically that it’s hypothetical and just dreaming.Just food for thought.
ok, hypothetically dreaming, we should just get aaron donald, trade for him for a 7th round pick, then get Chris jones from KC, maybe for a future 5th round pick, trade for rodgers, then might as well just go after Adams, because hei s Rodgers favorite player. we lose gallup in the process but that would be a wash. now, we can swap Zeke for Henry and give up a 6th round pick in the process, and lets fortify the OL and pick up Bakhtiari, perhaps just trade Smith for him, given how much rodgers likes him and they know each other, then we just pick up ali marpet from Buccaneers to fortify the inside of the OL, and in the process of building this team, we go after Myles Garrett and give them Randy Gregory, we can argue with them that Gregory is just as good but cheaper, and maybe trade wilson for Chase Young, since washington needs more offensive fire power. then we fire McCarthy, give up two firsts for Payton and make him the headcoach.

now we have a championship team.

I mean we are speaking and talking Hypothetically. if you are going to dream, then dream big

I think we probably are going to have to ride this out with Dak at QB until his guarantee and non trade clause has matured.

But you didn't mention \ address the "elephant in the room" ---- Rodgers coming to Cowboys with his previous HC whom he disdained the last couple of seasons before the Packers cut McCarthy loose.
Well there is that

see post 60, and no one knows what rodgers price would be. he has I think thrown 50 mil out, but that is to keep playing in gb.
To another team where he would be happier, and decent chance to win SB there is no telling what he would play for .
I don’t know which one is 60 lol
He may take less but even at say 30 mill I don’t see any way you could do that
We would need to create a whole lot more money than I see anyway we could

Ok first I know we cant force trade Dak, but if he wanted to be traded, it could be done.

The solution is to bring in Rodgers or Wilson, and tell Dak your now the Bkup dude
.

If he wants to sit on bench for most of season he can collect his check. But I think Dak would want to be
traded, so he would then pick a team and they could get a trade done , if that team wanted him.

I may be wrong but if he was traded, he could redo his deal/ contract to make it happen.

Now I hear that jerry likes attention, keep the team in the news, keep team relevant !
I hear this almost daily here.
What would make dallas the most relevant and talked about team?
Well getting Rodgers #1 or Wilson # 2 ! If he got Rodgers, jerry would have 100's of media wanting to talk to him, internet would explode !

And Rodgers is I think undefeated in ATT, and said he loves playing there. He is older now
and would probably love playing in a comfy dome for 8-9 games, and only a few outdoor games.

He would have some good WR , good RB, and if jerry let him be the oc/play caller/qb , the offense would
probably be awesome.

Jerry wants a SB, or at least champ game, and which scenario has best chance to succeed?
Dak/kellen
Rodgers/Rodgers

I think a guy like Rodgers should be calling his own plays anyway, he is smart enough, and has many years
of experience, he doesnt need anyone to call his plays.

If jerry got rodgers, and let him call his own plays, I think even I would be drinking that kool aide lol.
Or just get him, and even with boy genius calling plays, it would be so much different.

Wilson is a step down, but can still run it, and it would be interesting too. I also think Russell is smart enough
to call his own plays.

I know I am dreaming, but it is off season, and it is a exciting day dream lol.

As far as the money, Rodgers would probably bend on that if he wanted to come here, and thats
why letting him run the offense and call his own plays might get him to come here cheap, on a 2 year deal.

Some of the most knuckleheaded ideas have the most pages, especially when it involves Dak. That tells you the make up of this board. lol I’m just glad the ones who come up with these ideas don’t run the team.

They should have a Zone for the top 10 most ridiculous threads each year just to get a few laughs. This would be my first nominee for this year.

The Cowboys would have no problem managing their cap with a $40 million a year backup QB. There’s a few posters here that really should give stand up comedy a try.

Well if they talked to rodgers, which they wont, and he said he would come here for 30 mil and call his own plays, and if mike were not HC.
What would you do?
I would let mike go, let rodgers call his own plays and sign him.

This is a fantastic idea! The Cowboys are a QB away from being a contender but are stuck with fools gold at QB. Dak ruined the way this should of played out. The Cowboys should of had Watson.
