Can't buy a turnover? You need a defensive back within 10 yards of the ball first.

I am usually not much of a conspiracy theorist, but I am starting to think Jerry sold the teams soul for those three Lombardi's and coach Landry has been collecting for the past 20 years. is this Karma for the way he fired Landry? Other than the skins I have not seen a team have signed many bad breaks (maybe the mental midget Snyder forgot to ask for SB victories when he sold his team's soul  )

Turnovers cannot be gameplanned for, Jerruh. How about being concerned over the execution in the 3 phases of offense, defense, & special teams?

He's wrong. You can "buy" them.

You can't waste valuable cap room $$ on overpriced mediocre players like Carr and Church.

You can't spend 4 valuable high picks on 2 underperforming players in Morris Claiborne and Demarcus Lawrence.

You can't waste time or a roster spot on Nick Hayden.

Otherwise, you get what you pay for. A defense that can't force turnovers or stop someone when it matters.

This defense is 7 starters away IMO. Just 7.

The Cowboys haven't fielded a good defense in consecutive years in about 10-15 years. It's time they start investing 1st round draft picks on top defensive prospects (not CBs) the same way they did with the OLine. They need to find a new defensive anchor to build around, someone who can be the new DeMarcus Ware/All-Pro caliber talent. They're going to have a Top-10 or Top-15 pick, they need to use it wisely on the right defensive player.

If we get a top 10-15 pick it should be used on a QB.

In any other year than this, I'd agree, but given we're not going to have the #1 pick, I'd rather get an FS or even RB. None of the qbs look all that great this year. You have Goff and Lynch. They'll probably be gone by the time we pick and I'd rather not draft a qb 'just cuz'.

Our defense sucked. The reason for that is we haven't gone out and gotten good defensive players. We let Ware and Hatcher and replaced them with scrubs in the trenches. Thus the reason we can't stop the run.

We don't necessarily need to spend a 1st round pick on defense all the time. But we can't expect to fill the defense with UDFA and low rounders like we've been doing all these years. The problem we see now isn't coaching. Its the lack of talent. That would have been Jerry's job to bring in talent. However, he has failed us miserably and we reap what we sow.

So here's to Jerry. He was the masterpiece of this defense. He should look himself first in the mirror before going off on any else.

I am glad to finally see some people noticing how bad Marinelli has been. He has not got it done and deserves to be fired.

Marinelli got destroyed this game, but he held Seattle to 13 and NY to around 14. Switching defensive coordinators won't solve anything. We already played that game with Rob Ryan and yet we're having the exact same problems.

Why stop there? Why not mention Atlanta and New Orleans. He and his defense gagged and choked so bad in big sports against the Saints that he should've walked away in embarrassment.

Because half the defense was out those games. Let's keep switching defensive coordinators though. Getting rid of Rob Ryan sure did solve everything, right? How many scapegoats do we need to cover up the head coach?

There isn't a Qb in this draft that's worthy of a top 10-15 pick outside of having a pick in the top 5.

Well hopefully we lose to Tampa and consider sitting Romo down for the duration. We'll be picking inside the top 3, if they do that.

That's not going to happen. Just know you're insane if you ever think it's a real possibility.

Oh believe me..I am with you about Garrett. I've seen enough. But with a new head coach comes a new def coord. anyway....so I think we would both be happy. Yes, Garrett is a stiff for sure.
