Jerry: We've paid the price to some degree starting two rookie OL

Guyton is a rookie and we knew he needed work.

Edoga is a vet who knows his way around.

So it's a apples and oranges comparison.

Yes. But Edoga is also a career scrub. Guyton was a first round pick. You expect him to be playing well enough to not get benched for a player like Edoga.

I don’t think there’s any question that Guyton has looked very bad this season. He has to improve A LOT for him to be worth the pick they spent on him.

For $60M/year you could sign 3 top OL. Then Rush or Lance could basically just hand off to Dowdle and occasionally throw the ball and at least get to the playoffs.

But that isn't exciting. That doesn't sell tickets and jerseys. And nobody wants to watch a RB run behind a great wall, right? The NFL doesn't want boring.

So let's blame two rookie OL.
Isn’t that how the Ravens offense operated with Trent Dilfer?

Only a football moron like Jerry would lump Beebe in with Guyton.

Beebe's had a few growing pains but has been a pretty solid and ascending starter as a rookie. Guyton looks like he can't play. I mean, the guys being subbed out for Chuma Edoga on a weekly basis, for crying out loud.
In Guyton's defense, being stuck out there at left tackle as a rookie is tough enough, having to do it when switching from right tackle made it unlikely to be any kind of success. It was a dumb idea from the start. I mean, at least with Tyron Smith, we started him out at RT (his college position) instead of switching him immediately, and Smith was a much higher-rated prospect.

Guyton looks bad, he may bust.
Move him to RT?
Pick a LT in next year draft if one falls?
Is Asim ready?

Everyone agrees finding a top tier QB is hard. So, building a team as you suggest is exactly how you should proceed when your QB needs to be minimized.

Did he share any insight on how counting on a RG that maybe should have retired this past off season as if he were still in his prime affected the OL?

IMO Guyton was just terrible. Got beat constantly or got a holding call on him. Very near the bottom of the league.

Maybe he will be better next year or maybe he just sucks but I disagree with those that think he was fine. Him going out of the lineup is part of the reason the team is playing better.

You are selling Edoga short. He was specifically targeted by the Cowboys in FA as someone who could step in and start if necessary. He has. And played well. Guyton needed work. We knew that. We also knew he wouldn't really be ready until year 2. Switching side and learning the pro game is a lot. It's far far to early to say he has to improve A LOT to be worth the pick. There is no question he will take a significant step forward in the off season. He is just getting started on his NFL journey.

Be prepared for the Cowboys to not address the LT position for at least 7 years. These morons are gonna double down and keep Guyton well into a 2nd deal.

Big news Booger even knows what skis are.

More interesting is his admission of thinking he could just plug those guys in.

I would have believed that to be a decision made by the coaches unless GM Stands for General Meddler.

Nothing wrong with giving the rooks some playing time.
Starting 2 rookies on the OL is a disaster just waiting to happen.

Especially with both playing new positions, and broken-down, old Dak taking snaps behind them.

This is the kind of retrospect you get from a gm who meets once a week over drinks with his staff to talk about personnel.
Just a part time GM in reality and he doesn’t see it. Too busy being owner to dedicate 100% of his time to being a GM like all the other teams have. That’s that narcissism holding things back and in his hubris, he doesn’t even realize how wrong he is.

No Jerry you got out over your skis a long time ago when you started making decisions that the coaches should be making. Starting the rookies was not the problem, it was starting the wrong 5 Linemen, Hoffman should have been the starting Center, should have let Zack go ahead and retire, (because mentally, he was retired), his play showed it before injuries were added to his poor play. Beebee should have started in his place, or TJ Bass, LT should have been a battle between EDOGA and Asum Richards, injuries took both out of play the beginning of the season so Tyler Smith should have been moved and Bass/Beebee at LG. Guyton should have been battling with Steele for the RT spot, or alternating. Zeke should never have been brought back. I was okay with not signing Henry, he may have worked he may not have.
But the main reason is Jerry you need to stop making coaches decisions

You got over your skis when you didn't hire a football coaching crew, you moron. You've been over your skis since Jimmy left.

Maybe I'm in the minority but didn't think the rookies played that poorly. Guyton has been up and down but Bebe had been solid.

The biggest concern on the oline for me is how far Martin dropped off and how shaky Steele has looked for a good chunk of the season.
Martins ankle/leg is jacked up.

I think there’s a very real chance that Guyton is a total bust.

He doesn’t just struggle, he gets absolutely annihilated whenever he’s in the game.
He needs a full off season.

needs to be at the Star every day grinding.

the new OL coach is gonna be busy.

need RG and RT too.
