and we know how well he worked out here, huh? Jerra half filed a complaint about how Ratliff was so ailing he could barely play in Dallas and how he in a remarkable turn of events was suddenly deemed halthy for his new team.

And you and othes might disagree and that is your purgatory but I half always thought of Jay the Rat as a journeyman player despite his pro bowls which half of all honorees usually bow out of.
this is the most ungrounded reply to a false assertion I'v heard in a while

In order to satisfy your cravings.. Wait til the 7th to do the following..
1. Draft a TE
2. Draft a small school Safety project.
3. Draft a hurt LB

I want for once a kickoff and punt return specialist.

Two different guys..not just one that eventually gets hurt and we have no return game.

Attention to this small detail would help scoring and field position enormously.

The good thing about a bunch of 7th round picks is it's like getting first dibs on all the undrafted free agents.

I'd be willing to bet UDFA's have a higher impact than 7th rounders. At least it sure seems that way. They can go to the team that fits them best.

The 7th round is like 10 minutes until 2 a.m. on a Sunday morning at Pete's Dualing Piano Bar on Belt Line road when last call is over and you half to pick the redhead with one arm or the blonde with a lazy eye and unsteady on the dance floor.

I cannot recall, save maybe Bill Bates, when we got anything out of the 7th round. and Bates was not even journeyman material for most of his sorry career. (I really don't know if bates was 7th round, but it would seem he should be.)

Jay Ratliff was a 7th rounder wasn't he?

normally 7th round picks aren't too exciting but this is such a deep draft, I hope we keep 3-4 of them.

Its hard to find those guys, not as easy as it sounds. Usually players who are that good at that in college go in the middle rounds of the draft. The last one I remember taking didn't turn out so well (Skylar Green?)

Was he a 7th rounder. then I rest mein case. Yes, some will pipe up with "pro bowler!" but I only recall him as a exhalted journeyman who feigned injury, was a slacker toward the end and then took a lot of money from jerra and then insulted him and then, still "injured/rehabbing" went to work right away for the Bears. He is such a mutt.

Agreed.

But other team do take their ST much higher than we do.

We constantly fumble along..

Using stop gap players such as trying Dez back there's then Harris..

who knows.

Bailey has really panned out but I want somebody who will put the PR and KO units

..on their back and make the other third of the team really tied in with the rest of the team as having
an impact.

G Brandon Thomas from Clemson was rated a 3rd - 4th round grade before he suffered a torn ACL last week. Would think the Cowboys could put him on IR in 2014 by spending a 7th.

I would have zero issues with taking him in the 7th. Somehow I doubt he would last that long. But you never know that is the beauty of the draft.

Last time we had so many draftees was 2009. Quantity doesn't mean quality if you don't know what you're doing.

someone else said it, but having 6 picks in the 7th (currently) will make for a little excitement near the end of the 3-day player selection meeting....and, I don't see us actually making all 6 picks...I can see one of the following:
1) using a few to move up into the 6th
2) using as a sweetener in some other deal
3) trading for picks in the 2015 draft (to stockpile picks in that draft as well)

#3 will depend on how they think that they are doing in this draft and/or if someone they like is still there...grab him up before he becomes an UDFA

Considering that three can't be traded, I'd guess we use at least 4 of them and possibly use the other two to move up into the 6th or as you say maybe a sweetener in some other deal.

There really isn't a reason not to use them all though. We can insure that we get a few of those priority free agents we always go after with the extra picks and if we don't use them we are just going to end up adding more UDFA's and more vet minimum guys for camp.

Hopefully a valued player will slide and Jerry can leapfrog over some hated rival and draft him using a compensatory pick(s). :)
