St. Louis needs to start talking to their draft pick and get him signed ASAP. The wait for 22 is getting shorter!!!

How long, no pun intended, will they make us wait Sat before announcing it? :bang2:

I'll recap later.

Interesting statement just now: "There is not an immediate impact receiver [at 22 or 28]."

I always try and hear what's not there when Jerry talks, and I think he dropped a few hints today.

Lot's of talk of Receiving in one way or the other.

When talking about a "generic" player giving examples to scouting, he kept making references to Catching, or Running after the Catch, or Good Hands, and even made a reference to "looking at his catching ability against Tennessee."

Also, when referring to salaries, he made a reference to paying three big skill player salaries on offense, mentioning Romo, T.O., but didn't mention anyone else. Perhaps he was referring to Barber.

Also, when asked about moving into the Top 10, Jerry made a specific reference to #8, then quickly said #7. Something tells me that's the spot for us to move and Get DMC.

With all of this in consideration, I think there's a good chance we move up if DMC falls past the Jets.

You could be correct, but, it is my understanding that the Jets will take DMC

I can almost guarantee you they'll wait the entire 10 minute slot. Teams have negiotated with #1 in the past, and took the entire 15 minute slot.

He also said that the top ten was just far too expensive to trade into... But when pressed on it, he said he couldn't totally rule it out.

This is very interesting, though. Jerry's doing a good job.

I got the opposite feeling with regard to getting into the top 10. He was very negative about it. He almost ruled it out entirely.

Did Jerry just say we didn't have any talks with the Bengals about CJ?.

Yeah he did say we haven't had any talks with them, however, did you see how bleak he looked when answering?

One thing about Jerry, he is always the optimist and seemed to have a smile on his face the entire PC, but when asked about CJ and the Bengals he seemed to get pretty serious.

I would believe that. Having TO and Ocho both may be a bit too much...especially since they both are WRs who want the ball. Talent-wise it would be sweet, but I really think there is at least method to Jerry's madness. Who knows, could be famous last words. I'm not one that would go there personally--certainly not at market rate.

I thought the 10+ seconds of silence before answering some of the questions was very telling. That probably won't be reflected in a transcript.

The thing that is frustrating about this draft (unless Jerry has played his hand really, really well) is that Dallas has a giant blue and white neon sign hanging over the city that says "We will draft a corner if one of the top guys is there in the first round!" That makes it pretty easy for a team lower down in the first round to move up for someone right ahead of Dallas. If I'm Washington, and unless all the corners are taken or they covet one, I exploit that fully. It's like when Dallas needed a tight end the year they drafted LaFleur.

I also can't see how anyone could possibly listen to the press conference (this assumes that they believe a word out of Jerry's mouth - if they don't, then why bother listen?) and think that Dallas will trade into the top 10. Jerry spent about 30 seconds of grinding silence trying to come up with any scenario that would cause him to do that.
