Jerry's Pre draft PC about to start on the ticket

Yeah he did say we haven't had any talks with them, however, did you see how bleak he looked when answering?

One thing about Jerry, he is always the optimist and seemed to have a smile on his face the entire PC, but when asked about CJ and the Bengals he seemed to get pretty serious.

I thought he looked that way because he was talking about tampering and wanted to get off that topic quick.

Jerry confirmed the obvious about the CB position.

He said that he basically considers the 3rd CB to be starter, he noted that J. Reeves and N. Jones are gone, and that a first round pick in the 20's isn't too early to take a CB.

The 3rd CB is basically a starter any more.

Basically, I came away thinking:

1. We'll take a corner at either 22 or 28.
2. There's a good possibility we trade out of either 22 or 28.
3. We'll take a RB at some point in the draft, but not in the 1st.
4. We won't be taking a WR in the first.
5. We won't be drafting a developmental QB.
6. Offensive line is a real possibility at 22 or 28. My guess would be B. Albert because Jerry said there's an O-lineman in the 1st that could have an immediate impact.

Most of it just confirms what one could have already guessed.

I also can't see how anyone could possibly listen to the press conference (this assumes that they believe a word out of Jerry's mouth - if they don't, then why bother listen?) and think that Dallas will trade into the top 10. Jerry spent about 30 seconds of grinding silence trying to come up with any scenario that would cause him to do that.

It is cost prohibative and this team is not at all desperate. If it was year where we desperately needed help at the very same position that a very unique and elite guy was there, I'm sure he would be all over it. It is not necessary this year.

Lot's of talk of Receiving in one way or the other.

When talking about a "generic" player giving examples to scouting, he kept making references to Catching, or Running after the Catch, or Good Hands, and even made a reference to "looking at his catching ability against Tennessee."

My guess for that player would be Keenan Burton of Kentucky. Last year he had 2 TDs against the Vol's including the game winner in OT. This year he had 8 catches for 83 yards and another 2 TDs despite being dinged up all season. He was one of the top performers in 5 combine events: vert, broad jump, 3 cone drill, 20 yard shuttle and 60 yard shuttle. He'd be a fantastic addition to our team.

I'm with him up until 6.

The only other Lineman that I see with 1st Round grades are Tackles Ryan Clady and Chris Williams along with Guard John Greco. I hear the Eagles are high on Williams.

A lot of people will write that off as a smoke screen, but come draft day those same people are going to be pretty upset. With the depth of the RB class it wouldn't make sense to draft one in the first, especially when we already have Barber. With the lack of quality at the front end of the WR class you just don't get good value. Both of those talking points make perfect sense and yet I'm sure a good number of people will be disappointed.

Taking Albert @22 would basically be saying that we've missed with McQuistan, Free, Marten, etc.

Not good news.
I see 3 tackles on that list, none of which I'd be excited about playing guard. Albert would be damn near guaranteed a pro bowl guard.

I'd guess at Lavelle Hawkins, but he's one of my pets. :)
