Of the Mocks I've seen 4 have Albert going in the Top 10, 1 has him between 10 and 20, and 3 have him at 20 or later. The Mocks were from The Huddle Report, NFL Draft Countdown, Kiper, Kirwin, Carruci and McShay.

Yep...and 2 months ago, not a single one of them had him going in the 1st round.

These guys are piggy backing each other so hard, Alberts going to have to put all of them on his christmas card list.

I'll recap later.

Interesting statement just now: "There is not an immediate impact receiver [at 22 or 28]."

and they are right...there almost assuredly isnt

You know, I think Albert may end up being disappointed with where he gets taken because so many projections have him so high. He's a guard. For a team looking for an OT they would be making a much safer play to grab a guy like Otah, Williams or Clady. If a team needs help at OT right away, why would they take someone who has played 2 games at OT? In the past 20 years, there's been one OG taken top 10 and it was at pick 10. I'll be very surprised if Albert breaks the trend.

I thought the 10+ seconds of silence before answering some of the questions was very telling. That probably won't be reflected in a transcript.

The thing that is frustrating about this draft (unless Jerry has played his hand really, really well) is that Dallas has a giant blue and white neon sign hanging over the city that says "We will draft a corner if one of the top guys is there in the first round!" .

actually the only people that think that reside in this forum

Here is the thing, while he played guard in college supposedly several teams are projecting him as a tackle, mainly a Left Tackle in the NFL. That is why he is shooting up draft boards.

I'm afraid you're right. I just have a hard time believing that NFL scouts are buying into the hype as bad as the "mockers" are.

I like Albert, but I'm not giving him a top 10 rating. It was hard enough for me to admit he's going in the first round.

Key word.

...and do you really think that the real NFL scouts are giving low first round grades to Guards that are "projecting" to tackle? Not me.

I know that. But Clady, Otah and Williams all carry similar grades. Why wouldn't a team that needs an OT just draft one of them instead of getting involved in a project with Albert?

Another player who I think will drop further than people expect is Cromartie. I think a lot of his hype has been fueled by the internet and we may think he's higher on teams boards than he really is.

I've heard the same thing. The "unknown" factor for him is fairly large.

After watching the senior bowl again today, I'd welcome him to drop to us...he was definitely impressive.

If all the players we interested in are off the board & Albert still there, it certainly possible Cowboys could draft him. Would prefer him over another linebacker, TE, etc. However, I don't see Cowboys using Albert at OT but instead he will replace LG Kosier. Albert will be the 2nd coming of Larry Allen. Go take another look at the Giant playoff game. I seem to recall that the Giants were going through left side of our OL to get to Romo. Yes, Kosier is a solid starter but Albert would be a great LG.

all this talk about Albert is making me sick

I'm never a fan of drafting an OL in the first rd, but if they were to get stuck at 22 or 28 and this guy is by far the highest rated guy on their board, it wouldnt be an awful pick...just not a sexy pick

at the least he'd be a significant upgrade over Kosier in the short term, and who knows he could be a potential LT or RT down the road.

hopefully that scenario wont happen...but its not the end of the world if it does...it could also be posturing for a potential trade partner with teams behind us that really like him

Considering Albert has been mocked as high as 5th to the Chiefs, I'd say Albert at 22 would be a pretty good deal. We can't forget that we have two starting CB's already, and the Pacman deal should go through eventually, so we may not NEED a 1st round CB right now. There will be highly touted CB's every year, and no one coming out this year is a once in a lifetime prospect at that position.

I'm mentally preparing myself for the draft to go completely the opposite of what we have all been expecting, so I don't destroy my TV come Saturday.
