I think he will do the same thing in NY that he did in Dallas. He will usurp the current NYG HC within 2 years.
Knowing a person for 20 years is probably the reason JG lasted 5 years too long. Jerry loved Garrett and he was the one that Jerry was going to shove in the NFLs face if he won the superbowl. His handpicked, former Cowboy, first time hc, in others words his Tom Landry. Thats why he let JG last so long, it was Jerry's ego.Its actually the same logic you used to cherry picked and support your prejudice of Garrett. Had Hoo-Hoo Holley said anything positive of his almost two years with the Cowboy's coach let's just bet you wouldn't have posted anything.
Jerry could give you a different/better perspective on Garrett having known him many more years than your cherry picked idol. Assuming you realize you can't get to know a person in a short time (couple of years), the way you would if you knew them say 20 years.

After the results on the field I'll have to take any praise JG gets as a coach with a grain of salt. Ill listen to the Holleys of the world on that because it mirrors what i saw on Sundays.
Most great coaches are leaders of men. Landry, Jimmy, lombardy, halas, shula, gibbs, the list is long. Garrett was never a leader of men. Not by example, not by ability.

That's not to pretend that #1-#53 had the same regard for JG... practically no coach ever gets something close to unanimous acclaim. You mention Landry... that maybe especially goes for Tom Landry who even today, many years since, still takes the occasional shot from former players of his.
We're fans. We have our impressions, framed by what is on public display. But we're not there for practices, we have no insight into things that are done and said at meetings or in film rooms or in the cafeteria at The Star, nor secret audio of phone calls between coaches and players.
We should talk like we have enough insight to understand our insight is limited. Far more limited than a Travis Frederick, for example.

But some of us have our grinding axes, and have our need to hate on people who we think we're smarter than but that have been given coaching jobs that we are lock certain rightfully should have been offered to us. Even 5 months later, after the guy is gone. That, on its own, says everything that actually needs to be said on this topic.
@stasheroo , first, let me be the first to say, we agree that anyone who tries to push the idea that people shouldn't talk about X or Y on the basis that s/he is tired of seeing X or Y discussed should receive the same response you just gave... ie, "then simply don't click on the thread that you say you're not interested to read or participate in."
But, so, that's a strawman response, though, to what I just said. Not sure if you picked up on it, but I didn't tell anyone to not discuss JG.
What I did, where it concerns your response anyhow, is that I observed that, in different but similar words, it's a not-so-flattering reflection on posters who, it's clear, are still renting space to JG in their heads five weeks... er.... no... five months... about 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.... 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150 days after he got gone.
But what I spent more of my time doing in that and previous posts was just encouraging a balanced approach, and some appropriate humility given that no one's ever asked me to be even a college head coach (nor you or my other peers here, I assume?), and some recognition of the limitations of what mere mortals on the outside actually are capable of knowing, and some golden rule treatment of this person... no different than I would argue for any other person.

Part of the reason why Holley was in the league was due to Garretts poor evaluation of talent. Only thing worse for jason was using a guys talent.We all know Garrett wasn't an effective coach, but Holly was a minimally talented player that no other team even considered worthy of a practice squad spot and only barely sniffed the sidelines, much less the playing field, during his very brief stint with the Cowboys - and all he saw was the first 1 1/2 years of Garrett's time as head coach. Far and away most players have said they respect Garrett personally, even if they recognize he wasn't as effective as he needed to be as a coach.

There are still tons of guys on this forum that blame the players and don't give Garrett enough credit for the failures of our team as a whole. All I'm saying is that Holley really spelled everything out in a way that I've seen no one on here do. He breaks stuff down very candidly.
I think most know Garrett fell short as a coach. If there is anyone that doesn't believe that he/she doesn't represent "tons" of people. As for level of dysfunction, what does it matter? Garrett is gone, and that is a fruitless debate because outside of team results almost everything else is based on speculation, and can only be presented as an opinion. Why waste time on that?
