Doubtful that materializes. We need a pass-rushing DE way more than a DT. Also doesn't fit the Garrett RKG mold

Why do people keep saying this?

His one issue with the league was for street racing where he was caught with a gun in the car and smelling like pot with the other passengers. He was eventually charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest.

Hardly the stuff that would disqualify him.

I think the issue with Richardson isn't that he isn't a RKG. He's likely a DT, something we don't necessarily need.

don't see it happening, but I think he was really high on their draft board when he came out.

He's more of a 3 tech DT anyway. Ty Crawford played really well at the strong side end. Tank did well also just didn't show up on the stats.

I'm not sure what your requirements are for "really well", but they're definitely different from mine.

In a season of great surprises, Tyrone Crawford and his undeserved contract are a huge disappointment. And very likely, a big factor in this team's reluctance or inability to bring in a better defensive lineman.

Crawford was paid to be this defense's Warren Sapp, and he has failed to live up to it. So much, in fact, that he's been replaced at 3-tech and is taking up space at defensive end due to a lack of options, while contributing to an underperforming pass rush. He plays a key role in the team's biggest weakness.

Is Richardson hurt? In trouble?

If not, they're going to want the farm for him. Probably cost us La'el Collins or a second-round pick.

Definitely a second rounder. But having that on-field talent at a reasonable cost might be worth it.

The Crawford contract is just a killer.

Trading McFadden would not get much. Richardson probably costs a number 1 pick. The question: Is he the RIGHT KIND OF GUY?

th

Jets aren't getting anywhere close to a 1st round pick for Richardson

DE would obviously be the first choice but a DT that commands double teams would make the whole DL better,,,

How about this: resisting arrest, street racing w/ a 12-year old in the car, getting busted for pot and undocumented firearms... sounds like a carbon copy of Randy Gregory to me. I doubt JG will touch that with a 10 foot pole

Firearm was legally owned. So that's not a disqualifier, especially in Texas.

He was charged with resisting arrest for driving away from a cop and reckless driving. He was not charged with any drug crimes, nor did he fail any drug tests so your Gregory comment is wrong. This might stun you, but there are players on the current team who smoke pot but are smart enough to work around drug tests, etc.

Hardly reasons to not look at a guy. And he apparently is considered a pretty good teammate.

I'd pass on Richardson. Sure, he'd be an upgrade in talent. Call me a homer, but I'm drinking the RKG KoolAid that Garrett is serving.

This team has finally found the right combination of guys, and we are seeing magic on the field. Outside of an occasional Dez situation, we don't have many headaches on this team.

I'd like to keep it that way. Adding a low-maintenance, and low-risk (PR-wise) player, I'm all in. But not for a guy like Richardson.
What are alllllll these problems you and other moralist speaking of that makes this guy soooo bad? Some of y'all are too funny with y'all super strict one strike and your done junk

Right now I'm trusting in personnel decisions they decide to make.

The dude was trying to outrun the cops at 143 mph while running red lights with a child in the car.

That doesn't bother your moral sensibilities?

Not sure why my opinion hurts you so much, but that's cool.

I never said "alllllll these problems". I never even said "all these problems".

Fleeing from the cops at 143mph with a 12 year old kid, loaded handgun, and drugs in the car is enough for me to not want him on the team.

If you don't feel the same way, then by all means, don't feel the same way.

1.5 sks and 3 tackles for the game and for the season he's one of the leaders in pressures league wide according to reports.

He would be a fantastic addition to our DL. However, I don't think it would be wise to spend a (1st or 2nd) round draft pick plus his cap hit to add a great 3-Tech DT. If he was a 4-3 DE or someone who can pass rush from the edge, I'd be all over it. I like Dallas' DTs, DE's not so much...
