Jets show us what we need to do on offense

Name me the last SB winner that had 2 big time WRs.

You're being too specific. First of all, the number of super bowl winners itself is a small sample size. Second many of said teams certainly do have a top receiver as well as probably a top tight end.

Good post... That's why I'm loving the idea of draft a big time talent like Laquon Treadwell in the 1st round.

Biggest concerns there are:

Treadwell might be overrated
Treadwell might take a lot of time to develop
Treadwell might not be worth the 4th pick

I'm all for bringing in another dynamic WR.

But I can't figure out how someone who caught an average of less than 5 balls a game is being fed the ball.

Most targeted player on the team this year, and consistently is more targeted than the 2nd receiver... That's too much. Open up the offense.

Such a silly comment.

I mean for instance the Cardinals are the SB favorites and they have two big time WRs. Two first round guys. You should inform Vegas that they are idiots.

You never answered his question.

Instead, you cited Arizona, whom have won zero in this league, as evidence. Lulz

Last year, when we had our QB, the Cowboys averaged 8.4 yards per pass attempt. This year the Jets you so desperately seem to want to emulate averaged 6.9 yards per passing attempt. We need to be pushing the ball down the field? Really? Romo had the highest yards per attempt in the league last year with an 8.52. Additionally the Cowboys had an average of 11.6 yards per completion, fifth highest in the league and better than the Jets 11.2 yards per completion this year.

Your premise makes no sense. We push the ball down the field about as well as anyone - you know, when we aren't playing scrub backup QBs and actually have our starter.

You're conflating things. The Jets passed the ball more, and doing so reduces your average, where as the Cowboys were 31st in the league in passing attempts...

The devil is in the details...

In 2014 the Jets were 22nd in yards on offense and 28th in points on offense.

This year they jump to 10th in yards and 11th in points.

We still have a better running game than the Jets. We were actually 5th in the league in rushing yards per attempt. Why we didn't run the ball more without a QB, I will never know.

Why were the Jets so successful on offense then?

Because they had two big play wide receivers who were able to combine for 26 touchdowns and 2500 yards receiving.

We desperately need to get away from feeding Witten the ball. We need to feed Bryant the ball more and also take pressure off of him by giving him a true partner out there.

Marshall had 174 targets where as in 2014 Bryant had 138, and Decker had 131 targets, just slightly less than what Dez had in 2014. Jason Witten was our #2 receiver in 2014 with 90 targets, while Williams only had 64 targets.... not a true WR2.

This offense needs to stop operating through its tight ends and running backs... I don't mind some screen passes incorporated into the offense, in fact I would welcome them, but we still need to be pushing the ball down the field.

#1 free agent priority should be to get Alshon Jeffery. The two of them together, especially with a better running game even with just McFadden (but I would love to have Miller), would set this offense up to create the score advantage that would yield good results on defense.

I guess losing Romo didnt play a part in stats dropping across the board.

The QB's were told to throw the ball 10 yards or fewer down the field. Kind of limits who you can throw it to.

Although I know we have more pressing needs on the team, I will not be disappointed if we do in fact draft Treadwell. I also wouldn't be upset of we brought in Jeffrey via free agency if we do not draft Treadwell.

Either one of those two will make this offense elite granted everyone is healthy.

It's a dumb question. Only 1 of 32 teams wins it every year.

The question is can you win with two big time WRs. The obvious answer is yes.

didn't the jets have the journey man fitzpatrick as their qb or whatever. Romo is alot better qb then him. Fitzpatrick actually looked like a nfl qb this year. I have been saying this all year. Witten is reliable but offers nothing after the catch. Heck teams just stick linebackers on him and just make the tackle. I remember when the jets 180lb Safety made witten run out of bounds inside the 5 yard line a while back smh. Witten just does not break tackles or seek contact anymore. He gets tackled by a blade of grass.

I'm all for bringing in another stud WR, this would put a lot of pressure on opposing secondaries and get a real backup on the roster in case Dez gets hurt...

Let me explain it to you. The Cowboys didn't throw the ball enough in 2014, first of all. We were 31st in the NFL in passing attempts in 2014. Not sure this is controversial....

We ranked 16th in passing yards meaning for the limited amount of passes, Tomy did push the ball down field.

We finished 12-4. As an offense we ranked 5th in points scored and 7th in yards in 2014. We moved the ball effectively. It not that we "didn't pass enough", its that we didn't have to pass the ball more. It was a balanced offense that few could stop.

While I agree with limiting Wittens role. The fact that you state we "didn't pass enough" (which is laughable considering the offense was a top 5 unit and effective as a run first balanced unit) followed immediately by steering towards Wittens role honestly makes me think this is just another thinly vieled bash Written because thread from you.

Jets weren't even that good lol. If we had Romo our offense would've look better than theirs. I envy what the Pats and Packers do on offense. The Jets? Not so much.
