Jets workout Dan Bailey

It has been mentioned a few times but not widely publicised.

It has been described as a "disc issue".

Those don't really get better without surgery.

OK, I hadn't seen anything this year to say that. I googled it a while ago and all it mentioned was the groin issue. Whatever it was, it sure did him in. Another article dated Sept. 1st said it was a "minor hamstring issue." Go figure.

Many search hits from 2017 indicating he had a herniated disc starting in 2016 that might require surgery.

I've only seen it in tweets recently. I don't know if tweets are searchable. The tweets were likely just referencing the reports from the past.

Regardless of year, a herniated disc does not go away without surgery. The pain can be managed if it does not get worse; however, those normally do get worse.

Yeah but if you go to Google, scrolling down to an article dated Sept. 1st, it says his problem this year stemmed from a minor hamstring issue. In the offseason, it was also reported that his back problems of last year weren't an issue any longer and that he's completely healthy. It's best to look at what happened this year and not 2017. Anyhow, he's history. Arguing about it won't change anything.

He will have a Job by start of the Season. No way no one picks him up. There are about 90% worse Kickers than him in the League.

And one of them was kept on the roster with the pothead Rico?

Wonder if he was completely surprised by this move. He was:
-2nd most accurate in the league
-Head coach recently expressed confidence in him
- only 30 years old, still kicking tread left
-Team captain
Probably believes it was just a matter of time before he got back on track.

I noticed the injuries were piling up on him for the last couple of years. First it was a back problem with a herniated disc. Then late last year, a groin injury really took a toll on his accuracy until he had to get out of the lineup for awhile. This year in TC, he was having problems with a "slight hamstring issue" that compromised his accuracy once again. Apparently, the Dallas FO decided his automatic days were over and chose to go with Maher instead. I think the 57 yard FG Maher got vs. the Texans really made a favorable impression on the Cowboys staff. It showed by the expression on JG's face.

If Bailey was anywhere nearly as surprised as I was and most of us here at CZ were, it didn't show. I think he probably suspected that he was treading on thin ice when Maher was having a better time of it in camp. That's just a hunch on my part, though. Here's hoping Maher is able to produce anywhere near the kind of accuracy during his time here that Bailey did. I believe he's in his late 20s, having spent some time with the CFL at his most recent stop. It'll prove pretty interesting to see how well both Maher and Bailey do this year. It's a good bet that they'll be compared each and every week here.

Blah blah blah.
Bailey is a kicker.
Bailey was a great kicker.
Bailey was a very well paid kicker.
Bailey was a good kicker, then a good kicker, then a good kicker making great kicker money.

The Cowboys have a new kicker. The odds are he will never be as good as the “great” Bailey. Fans will recall Bailey’s great years whenever the new kid misses a kick.

Meh.....I could care less.

Until Maher misses a kick that could have won us a game.

Why wouldn't he work out, they sign NCAA players as well. :D

Some of those NCAA teams would be competitive in the CFL. I'm not sure that even Alabama could be competitive against even the worst NFL team. I do not have a high opinion of the CFL, and I'm Canadian and never watch the grey cup ... I'm not a soccer fan, but never miss the WC Final.

I don't watch soccer either unless it is the World Cup. But this past year didn't pay a lot of attention to it, but did watch the final though I kept busy doing other things as well. Was not glued to the TV for it.
US team did not qualify so did not pay much attention. I did watch parts of some games from the quarter finals and semi finals.

Watched some CFL here and there the first few weeks, to appease my taste for football, but that was about it, forgot about it after that.

Stop it.

Stop making up your medical facts that are no more valuable than the toilet paper I used this morning and trying to present them as real facts and gospel.

We just cut the best kicker in The NFL who just hit 42 out of 47 in training camp.

I know it doesn’t make sense....so you go off on some wild goose chase trying to figure out something the rest of the world doesn’t know so you can wrap it in a package you feel more comfortable with.

Stop it.

that says that bailey does not think he is done yet.

Adam Vinatiera, Matt Bryant, Stephen Gostkowski, Robbie Gould, Phil Dawson, Matt Prater, Mason Crosby all say "Hi"

One slightly mediocre season....and the front office thinks he's trash. Will not shock me to see this guy play another 10 more seasons.

This move ranks right up there w/ some of the dumbest moves we have ever made....passing on Randy Moss, Signing Greg Hardy:rolleyes:

If you could care less, then why not try to care less?
