Jets workout Dan Bailey

Another career wasted by Garrett....
On sidebar: When Eugene Upshaw kicked off for A&I, the stands would stand and chant, 'Field goal, Tuck...field goal.'

He would part the uprights on the kick off. He never kicked as a professional...(his nick name was Tuck).

We will see!!

He either gives us the middle finger and goes back to being money!

Or the injuries piled up and he’s not the same.

My money is on he goes back to being Automatic all while Maher struggles sadly
Regardless of what he does in the future, he was the best kicker in the world for several years, and that time was wasted.

But yeah,. maybe going forward he can be like Demarcus Ware and not Witten or Romo.

This might be the reasons:

1. The Cowboys’ confidence in Bailey began eroding when he made only 8 of 13 field goals and missed two PATs in the last five games after returning from a groin injury.

2. Bailey’s overall field goal percentage had declined each of the last three seasons from 93.8 to 84.4 to 75.0.

3. Bailey was scheduled to earn $3.4 million this season, while Brett Maher will earn $480,000. The Cowboys didn’t view Bailey as $2.8 million better than Maher.

4. When Bailey missed four of five field goals in a two-day stretch at training camp it reminded Cowboys of last five games of 2017 and opened up the competition.

5. Even though kickoffs are being deemphasized Maher’s kickoffs were deemed better.

6. The 57-yard field goal Maher made against Houston was one more notch in his favor and contributed to his overall body of work.

did you see him in the nyg game last year:facepalm:
or philly:facepalm:
if he still has groin issues and a bad back...kicking in that NY weather wont make it easier:facepalm:
Did you see him in Dallas on December 24th, 2017 in that warm AT&T stadium miss a 23rd yarder vs Seattle?! Again, weather has nothing to do with it.

I'm glad they released him. Once an injured hip, he'll never be the same. We can't be losing games because of a kicker who once was the best, is missing chip shots back to back only to lose games.

I recall Boniol being great, than he started missing. We released him, the Egals picked him up and he stunk it up for them. Out with the old and battered, in with the young and new.

Just for the record, it's been years since I have heard something positive slip from your lips here...and no, I'm not even going where you are thinking about taking my comment. Good to hear something on site from you, but let go of the inherent negative in point of view, and share some good in our Cowboys and to us fans. I want nag, I have a wife on salary.:)

Yea so what if the young and new is a downgrade.

He has had a good career. I said it was wasted, not that he hadn't had a good career.

He’s made a lot of money, and we won games with his help, so I don’t see the waste. A Super Bowl win would be great, but a person’s career isn’t wasted without it. I’m sure Marino and Witten don’t consider their careers wasted.
