This is just a band-aid so they can pay Bill Cowher 9 mill per year.
Snyder won't let Cerrato go, and Cowher wants complete control, so he will never come here.

This may be what the fans are saying -- hell, Snyder may even be thinking this way -- but that is terrible coaching management if that is what they're trying to do. If you're a coach, why would you ever want to step into that when Snyder has proven again and again that he has no respect for his coaches and will probably use you as a pawn?

If I were Zorn and that happened to me, I would seek to recoup some losses and then start the media storm over how Danny Boy is just a flat-out bad dude.

I'm surprised but that's about all I'm feeling. He's an unknown, so it's difficult to say whether this is a good or bad hire. I'm just happy it's not Mooch.

Man thats sucks for yall dude.

Like I said I think Snyder just wanted someone he could wack in 1 year to hire Cowher.

Typical, I'd say.

And you'd be right. Par for the course.

"Arrington is the best!!"

*after he leaves* "Arrington sucks!!"

"L. Coles is the best!!"

*after he leaves* "Coles sucks!!"

"Antonio Pierce is the best!!"

*after he's in NY* "Pierce sucks!!"

They did it with Champ and every other guy who leaves that stinkhole.

Smoot was the funniest though:

Pre Vikes:
"Smoot is the best!!"

During Vikes:
"Smoot sucks!!"

Post Vikes:
"Smoot is the best again!!"

:lmao:

If thats the case then you guys made a mistake not giving Doug Williams an opportunity.

I still think Cowher will Cooperate for 9 mill a year

They are pretty happy over at ES for the most part. I think ANYONE other than Fassel makes them giddy. Besides, you know how they'll spin it. By this time next week he'll be the next coming of Gibbs.

So the mental hospitals need to be ready for delusional fans.

Figured it was one or the other.

I've always been of the mindset that hiring a "young" hot guy is usually the best hire. If Zorn gets the chance to grow into this position, he'll could do very well.

This I see as a far better hire than a re-tread

Frankly, this is what I hoped we would have done last year with Garrett

I am so glad Snyder decided not to make a splash this time. Look at our last three hires: Schottenheimer, Spurrier and Gibbs. These hires were all splashy.

Zorn isn't young. He is 55.

He just has no experience because no team ever thought about hiring his spare *** to even be a OC.

This isn't like Garrett or McDaniels or Lane Kiffin. This is a guy who couldn't get promoted for the last decade and suddenly comes out of no where to get this job.

Commanders owner Daniel Snyder has done what Jerry Jones thought about about doing last year -- taking a promising quarterbacks coach and promoting him right through the coordinator level.

The OC that Snyder hired just two weeks ago, Jim Zorn, is now Washington's head coach. Unbelievable. Remember, it was just a year ago that Jones hired then-Dolphins QB coach Jason Garrett before hiring Wade Phillips. Indications were he considered making Garrett head coach then, prior to deciding to tab Phillips.

Zorn's considerably older than Garrett, at 54, and joined Mike Holmgren's staff the same year (2001) that Matt Hasselbeck came in a trade from Green Bay. Hasselbeck became a Pro Bowler, and Zorn, a former Seattle quarterback himself, built his reputation on No. 8's development.

Not sure what this means for the Cowboys' competition, but credit Snyder with making a gutsy decision, rather than taking the safer route of hiring someone like Jim Fassel.

Jim Zorn isn't young. He's about 55 years old. Plus, unlike Garrett, he wasn't a backup.

Edit: To me, it appears that we're following the Eagles model. Andy Reid got promoted from QB coach to HC as well. He too worked under Holmgren.

Zorn was NOT a "promising QB coach."

He was an average QB coach.

Lord knows why that moron in DC did this, but I think it is great!

Snyder couldn't find anyone who wanted that job, plain and simple. He had no choice but to promote Zorn.

THat team is pathetic.

He's young by Joe Gibbs standards.

Pretty sad when you think you're going young when the guy is getting AARP.

If Jerry hired an african chimp to be the Dallas HC, Danny would hire one two.

You might be trying to be funny, but there is more truth to this than you would imagine.

Snyder is so consumed and obsessed with one-upping Jerry Jones that he will copy his every move.

Jones hired Coach Parcells. Snyder hires Coach Gibbs.

Jones flirts with hiring Garrett. Snyder hires Zorn and probably believes he is clever for doing so.

What a sad, sad little man.
