Jimmy Johnson "I Want To Score."

I am truly amazed at the level of Romo hatred. He screws up he gets blasted. He doesn't screw up he gets blasted.

I wonder if anyone watched the Seattle offense last night? They were steamrolling every team in the league. Last night the Rams put a furious pass rush on Russell Wilson, and I believe they sacked him 8 times. Seattle won the game because their defense held the Rams offense to field goals.

Our defense lost the game against the Lions, but why should that be a surprise. The Cowboys have lost 4 games and in three of those they led by double digits in the fourth quarter. Yet, it's always Romo's fault.

Get used to it, because it's not going to change.

I'll tell you what I get tired of. I get tired of the after the fact 2nd guessing that goes on constantly. Just like the holding call at the end of the game when a running back decides to reverse field and go where the play is not designed. How in the heck is that Garrett's fault. But some on here will make it his fault regardless. If you follow the game threads on here, there is a regular occurrence. It looks sort of like this....

"Our offense stinks... worst in the league... Garrett sucks (even though he isn't calling the plays anymore :)).... we are beat.... whatever you do PLEASE RUN THE BALL HERE!!"

.... {Romo throws... TD to Dez}.... cue celebration AND NO ONE MENTIONS their idea about play calling BEFORE what they begged us NOT TO DO worked.

It happens all the time.

Now, I get the fact that this is a fan forum. I get the fact that everyone loves to be a backseat coach. But after awhile at least admit that's what you are. Here are the facts....

This is a new season
We are 4-4
We lead the division by a game
We have a good chance to go 5-4 this week
We absolutely should be 5-3 and we gave the game away last week
We can recover this week and there is a lot of football to play
WE SHOULD ENJOY THE SEASON.... It will be over soon enough and we will be back in off season, regardless of how this year goes. You only get 16 regular season games a year, and we are half way through. We still have a very good shot at the playoffs.

ENJOY THE YEAR!

Some of you crack me up with unrealistic expectations. The Romo blame / hate is out of control. Romo has consistently played without a running game or defense and more often than not a decent offensive line. Now lets take a look at the QBs that Romo haters love to love; Ben R and Eli M.

They too are playing with a sub par running game and defense. Just like magic they look pathetic. Ben R has 4 4th QTR INTs and 2 Fumbles and Eli Manning has 8 4th QTR INTs and by the way some of those turnovers have been game sealers.

Playing at the level Romo is playing at given the shoddy construction of this roster is the exception and not the rule. Again, look no further than Eli and Ben to see what happens when you are playing with considerably less than a full deck. All of a sudden instead of "Clutchness" we are talking about Eli's 17 turnovers and Ben's 11 turnovers. Where did the "clutch" in their game go? Funny how that works.

But, but, but...you can't count them because they got da Ringz. Their teams are letting them down, it's not the QB's of those teams fault...they got da Ringz!

Then bench him and see what see what "catastrophic interceptions has led to a loss of trust" really look like.

Yeah, I like this post. You never know what you got until it's gone.

I've followed this team since it's inception and I would laugh my butt off if Romo got injured. Then watch the haters to see what they do. But, they most likely would be tickled to death that Romo was finally gone so they can come with this "now we get to pick at the top of the draft for a real QB" crap.

And I'm tired of losing games where competent coaching should get you a W. You have to realize that that is the difference between going to the playoffs and staying home.

I mean, for crying out loud, there is a chance we could miss the playoffs this year because he didn't tell the QB to take a freaking knee. Imagine that.

You do know this already happened? The "haters" actually got some ammunition that year when we had a better record without him than with him. But the fact is, both groups are silly. The group that constantly bashes Romo is silly and the group that acts like the franchise shuts down when he is gone, or that he would go somewhere else and make us all rue the day are silly too. Fact is the NFL is about turnover in players. It happens every year and with every team. Of course the 49ers would be finished after the great Joe Montana! .... uh.... after Steve Young!..... uh.... after Alex Smith! (not appreciated - see KC).... uh... after Kaper...(who can spell his name without google?).

You assume he should have taken a knee. I don't agree.

Look folks, what Romo has done in his career is irrelevant. The last 2 years he has been inconsistent, it's got to the point he doesn't even trust himself. There are people open down field and he won't let it go unless they've got 3 steps. The good news, we play a crap team this week so there should be people wide open.

The staff flat won't trust him with the game on the line. Time to draft.

I love almost everyone on the site (sans Jerruh apologists), but let's not compare "red" to JJ...ever please...

This is flat-out BS. If they didn't trust him, he woudn't be out there. Period.

If this team ever wants to succeed they have to fix the defense. I will give this point up. It doesn't seem to matter what Romo does.

Two seasons ago, Tony had over 30 td's and only 10 ints. Last season he had 19 turnovers and this seaons he has 16 td's and 5 picks..

In all three seasons the team is .500.

It's the Defense stupid?

In all three instances I outlined, the Cowboys had scored the last two times they had the ball. All of those scores were Romo touchdown passes.

Romo, just to state some facts you seem to ignore, was under pressure the entire game and still had (3) TD passes and a QB rating of 101.7, but go ahead and blame Romo if that makes you happy..

I'm not ignoring anything, Romo did not have a good game what ever excuse you need to come up with to deal with that is your problem

We have/had people wide open. We played a crap team. We lost. All this while being up 10 points with three minutes left in the game.

Romo put the team in position to win.

IMO.....the 'staff' doesn't trust itself.

I don't know what to think about some of it. I think Romo has Jerry as his biggest and most sincere fan. I think Garrett is a huge fan also, but is a little more realistic about Romo's penchant for getting a bit careless with the ball at times (thus the major emphasis this year on cutting down on turnovers). I also think that Garrett is conservative in nature when it comes to game management (a lot like Parcells, and so many other coaches). So, to say they don't trust Romo is just plain wrong. To say that they start to feel a bit of doubt in some situations and that they play it conservatively probably has more to do with a philosophy of game management than anything.

Then on the 2nd to the last possession we should have just run rather than have Romo pass it. This was a crucial play which we either try to get a first down or just run out the clock. Unfortunately, Garrett didn't see the importance of this play. Romo threw the ball out of bounds to escape a sack and stopped the clock. Advantage Detroit.

This was a moment where Garrett needed to decide what the strategy was in the waning moments of the game. No special play was given to Romo or no special instructions was given to Romo to chew time off the clock. Otherwise, Romo would not have thrown it out of bounds stopping the clock. Sometimes a coach needs to his QB exactly what needs to be done. This was that moment and Garrett just didn't come through as a coach.

Just another reason not to let him pass on the last possession... Romo could have easily slid down and taken the sack, clock keeps running and/or Detroit has to burn a time out. Not sure how you can put Romo lack of awarness in that situation on Garrett (who doesn't even call the plays)

Why?!?!? The secondary has been an issue for almost 7 years...and look at the SUCCESS!!! Oh...wait...I mean...darn...

101.3 QB rating..3 td's..0 turnovers..30 passes and hit on 10 of those..0 sacks

You guys never have anything to back up your remarks? Your perception fed by an ignorant media is just wrong.

It's called having balls, something Garrett is missing. When was the last time Garrett did something and you thought wow that's gutsy?

He likes kicking 50+ yd field goals. He throws caution to the wind for those.

You realize even HCs that don't call the particular plays tell their OC what they want, right? Garrett didn't just leave it all up to Callahan. He would have told him, let's run it three times up the middle on this possession. The formation and player would probably be Callahan's call but that's all. No HC would leave it up to the QB (except maybe for Peyton Manning) to make the play call in that situation.

No, we need to keep something in mind:

On Dallas' penultimate possession, the one where Romo threw the ball away to avoid a sack, there was well over two minutes to go and just a three point lead, burning the clock wasn't necessarily in the Cowboys' interest....yet. Had Detroit tied the game or taken the lead (which was a real possibility on their penultimate possession, the one that ended going 4 and out on downs,) the Cowboys would have needed time remaining on the clock to go the distance and have a score of their own.
