You may be right, but ask yourself if this year feels like the others. Then look at the action, or inaction, they have had in regards to signing Dak or anyone else. Then look at the statement I put in bold again and add it all up.

I am thats why i said that...they said the same thing in 2019 and 2020.."We believe in Dak" tag year.."Dak is our future" Tag year season ending bad injury....HUGE contract...remind me of all the FA's they signed during this..hell remind me of all the FA's they have signed in 10 years...you have 1 saving grace if this is your hope, Dak refuses the contract and lets it play out in FA...thats actually becomming more likley by the day, but just as likley they have a "Hush Hush agreement" already in place..anything Jerry says to the media is just food for the masses..its means nothing..

Yes. Do you know what type of ego you need to be a professional quarterback? I am being nice, Dak thinks he is better. Let me put it to you this way, Lance probably believes if he was San Francisco quarterback instead of Purdy, they would have won the Super Bowl. These guys have supreme confidence.

I hear what you are saying but I'm going to disagree that it applies universally. I will forever believe that Dak got overconfident in 2016 and by mid season 2017 that confidence had been completely shattered. He has known since then just how far out of his depth he is when it comes to truly top tier NFL QB's.

A lot of the guys who "falter" are in the same boat. You can fake the bravado with the media & fans but not in NFL circles. They know their best is only so good and they are just hoping good fortune smiles on them against the better opponents.

I agree with you that they believe this, because how could they be wrong? I'm not big Dak fan. You won't be seeing me slap up stats and remind people of Dak almost winning MVP last season. I get tired of hearing that crap.

But if this is the way the front office thinks, we should all be concerned. They believe we had a team good enough? Even though they did nothing to improve, or build upon the previous season? They treat the offseason like they are amateurs and expect the QB to make up for it? How about they do their part? Do they not see what the Eagles and 49ers are doing? That's why the Eagles and 49ers are in super bowls and championship games. Not because their QBs are great. The Jones boys have to be the dumbest duo in the league. What the Jones boys do is provide someone with a hacksaw instead of a chainsaw to cut down a tree. Then complain it is taking too long. It's absolutely mental!

Dak is not a hall of fame QB. He's at best a good regular season QB. They expect that to win a SB when they put no effort into supporting him? Just build through the draft and expect this QB to take you........where?

Unless Dallas happens upon a Patrick Mahomes type QB they will never get to another SB using that crap SOP they use.

If they currently believe they have a team good enough then that most likely just means their won't be any major changes to their approach in how they build and structure the roster for the next QB after Dak is gone. Meaning if they just say that Dak is the only problem with the roster and just think the only change which needs to be made to it is the QB in order to win a Super Bowl, then it's not likely will see them becoming bigger spenders in free agency.

I really feel the only reason MM wasn't kicked to the curb was they want to see if he can work some magic with Lance. He's a great QB coach. I think the conversation was had after the season finale that if Lance looks great in preseason and TC, and if Dak struggles this year at all and can't play well against some tough teams, he is going to the bench and Mike will be judged on what happens after that with Lance.

Why else would they have kept him after that mess.

I agree. I don't particularly feel strongly one way or the other about MM staying or going, bit it really is the only explanation for WHT he was kept. Either to groom Lance and see what he could do with him, or give Dak one more prove it season in his offense. Nothing else makes any sense.

Something in the recent tweet that's hardly mentioned is both parties mutually agreed not to extend his contract.
IMO, It's possible their numbers are so far apart they both agree that any negotiation now would be a waste of time. I think they would extend him today for $48-54M range. But they are not going to give a contract that resets the position at $60M and they shouldn't. Hell, that's $5M more than the highest QB contract ( Burrow at $55M) and $20M more than the average of his last deal.

That would be correct. They weren't spending when Dak was on his rookie contract, they're not spending now. There is no reason to believe they'll spend in the future. They do make the occasional trade.

There is no way McCarthy and Dak are both here after Green Bay. That’s just awful management.

Yeah they got rid of the guy whose defense gave up a 40 burger at home in the playoffs.. That was a good first step but there was plenty of blame to go around for that debacle. Dak and McCarthy can't skate on that deal.. but it was such a total team collapse a more impetuous owner might have fired the whole team right then and there. And nobody would have blamed him.

If they felt he was an elite level SB QB, they would have hammered out his contract well in advance of free agency and it likely would have been in the 55 to 60 range. Bottom line, they don't think he's worth it. Good for them.

This all sounds oddly familiar.. Weren't you part of the group that kept saying Dak would not even be signed after the franchise tag season when he got hurt? The bottom line is simple here. The Cowboys do not have a better option than Dak Prescott right now. If Lance was lighting up our defense in scout team all last year they might think different.. but has anyone heard any such news.. I certainly haven't. Dak was a top 5 QB in the NFL last year and for a long stretch he was the top ONE! He and the whole team had some hiccups down the stretch .. it is what it is. I am not going to sit here and claim I have an explanation for why the team played like crap against the 49ers, AZ, Buffalo and ultimately Green Bay. But the fact remains they did just that. In almost every one of those games the whole team crapped the bed. My only complain with Dak in those games is that he stayed too damn calm when it was all falling apart around him. He need to lose his er.. ever lovin mind on the sideline when the team plays like that. He can't get dragged down too. He's got to take it upon himself to do whatever it takes to lift the team. Run the damn QB draw a few times if you have to. Wake the team up.. scream at the linemen.. slap CeeDee upside the head.. Something.. Anything but the too cool for school look on the sideline. I need to see more fire from him when things are going bad. I know he works hard to remain calm in the middle of the storm but that's not what this team needs from him in those times.

Completely true. I remember how McCarthy made Flynn a multi millionaire. Guy went to Seattle and did nothing. Guy can coach QBs. Dak is a choker.

Plus was McCarthy supposed to make tackles vs GB? Guy has done well despite the circus in Dallas.

He can yell and scream all he wants. If he is out there throwing pick 6's, sucking the life out of the defense and the crowd, nobody is gonna care about him throwing a little hissy fit. He'll probably get punched though.
