JJ thinks Johnny is the best player in the draft

I don't know which of the following I'm more apprehensive about:

The wait until the start of Day One of the Draft.

or

The anticipation of witnessing pet cat anguish after Dallas' first round selection is made.

Jerry says stupid things all the time. He once said Claiborne had the best skill he'd seen since Deion. All the other GM's are counting on Jerry to make these kinds of judgements.

No he did not. Love how this forum is like the corcle of whispers where the story changes with every telling.

Jerry said he had scouts rank Claiborne with the best CB grade since Deion came out. That was why they went up and got him when offered better than trade chart value from the Rams.

BTW, not at all a shocking take.

Manziel was about as close to a two time Heisman winner as a draft has ever seen.

Doesn't mean he is the guy Dallas wants for it's team and system but as far as best player entering the draft that is certainly a fair take.

There is zero doubt who was the better SEC player last year between Manziel and Clowney even if every team would take Clowney in the draft.

We would have to trade (significantly) up to land Manziel. It isn't going to happen.

I have no doubt he is telling people this but I highly doubt he will take him if available. I think he is setting up a possible trade by making other teams feel there's a chance he will take him. If he falls to 16, Jerry will look to trade down. If he can convince teams he is interested, someone may take him or trade up in front of Dallas which might push one of their real targets down to us. If Jerry had not resigned Romo, I have no doubt Jerry would be looking to move to get JM but Romo and his contract are untradeable and uncutable. You can't draft Manziel in the 1st and keep Romo at his salary. You think there is a circus surrounding the team now!

I'm calling complete B.S. on this Jerry infatuation with Manziel.

Unless of course he's seen him in the shower. Then all bets are off.

Kerry Champion said she talked to JJ at an event and he raved about johnny. Said he thought he was the best player in the draft and would take him if he could.

You probably should have said in the title that Kerry Champion says that JJ once said JFB was the best player in the entire draft.

Highly speculative vs just stating it as fact.

If he is there at 16 I think Jerry seriously considers it, but I don't believe we will ever know, because he will be long gone by then.

Ok. That is what the post is for. I did it for clicks. I'm a click *****.

When has jerry ever cared about a circus? He welcomes it. Every time he speaks he creates a circus.

To our delight the Buzz morning show co-host Tommy Smith called in to add his thoughts on the sports topics of the day, including reporting on his Sunday afternoon football excursion to Kansas City to watch the Chiefs take on the Dallas Cowboys. Smith was a guest in the owner’s box at Arrowhead Stadium, sitting with Jerry Jones and others for the Cowboys’ 16-17.

Smith relayed the following story that caught our attention: “I heard Jerry Jones say … ‘If you told me I could get Johnny Manziel for the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys next year, I’d say tell me where to sign and how much it will cost me.’”

Both Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith are known for making thing up that are completely untrue.

JJ told this lady on the biggest tabloid show in sports something that he has not told any of the local reporters?

You are a completely logical guy. So you know this sounds like a Jerry move. Think marketing and making money, then it makes perfect sense.

If he didn't have Romo with a mega-contract then I could see Jerry wanting Johnny even if the scouting dept. had Bortles or Bridgewater rated higher; however, I think that people are missing the fact that Jerry's biggest weakness has been that he will go to any lengths to try and prove that actions that he has already taken were valid. Proving that the Romo contract was a good idea will be a bigger issue for Jerry than trying to make a splash with a draft pick.

Jerry said it. Jerry traded a 1st and 2nd to move up to take him so obviously Jerry felt the same way.

JT is correct...you are wrong.

Thursday night, when the Cowboys discussed making a trade for Claiborne with the St. Louis Rams, team scouts told owner/general manager Jerry Jones only one man had higher grades.

Sanders.

"Deion was special with his burst," Jones said. "But certainly he is the best they have graded for us since Deion. That would have included Deion after he came in here. Deion had the highest touchdown-per-touch of any player in NFL history."

Jerry gave up a 1st and a 2nd to move up to get Claiborne. He's the GM. He's responsible. Whether he got his info on his own or from the scouts makes no difference.
