We are not going to see a lot of people predicting big things for this team in 2009.

It is what it is.

Last time I checked, Dallas has won more than 8 games the last four years.

JJT is on the wrong side of 9.

The draft hasn't even happened, and the roster isn't set.

I forgot what it's like to watch the Cowboys win a playoff game, but I know the Cowboys can get at least 9 or 10.

Its funny how all these people say what a great player Roy Williams was in Detroit, ProBowler this, that, walks on water, flies with no wings but as soon as he comes to Dallas, he's a mediocre player on a mediocre team....

good! they haven't done anything for people to be predicting big things. just another thing to show them that the media doesn't respect them and aren't there friends.

Good, then STOP saying when the Cowboys lose that it was a disappointing season because they were Super Bowl Favorites. And when your moronic brethren in the media say that they are favorites to win the Super Bowl, please point out how moronic they are.
THANK YOU.

It's like people talking about how Roy Williams (the safety) was overrated year after year... When everyone said he sucked. You can't have it both ways. If you're going to claim that a team is average or worse, you don't get to freak when it doesn't win every week.

But, good luck with all that. Over/under on JJTool articles with "13-3" and "13 Pro Bowlers" references this year? Twenty-five.

He is a tool. Why is he more frequently getting airtime on TV, either with ESPN or NFLN???

The dude is a TERRIBLE journalist.

Exactly. Taylor might as well had said 7-9 (or worse), but something must have prevented him from flat-out predicting a losing record.

He has never been enamored with Phillips or his staff since they came onboard. Even so, it would be awfully hard to dismiss that defensive coaching improved with the dismissal of Brian Stewart and Phillips taking sole ownership of the defense. Likewise, booting Bruce Read and replacing him with Joe DeCamillis did the same with special teams.

There hasn't been that much turnover in personnel. Injured players should be healthy for '09. Free agency hasn't concluded and the draft is still weeks away. The potential to strengthen an already solid roster is still undetermined.

No team within the NFC East is significantly better than Dallas. The Cowboys also play the AFC West this season. The schedule is more favorable this year than last year.

All things considered, it doesn't make much sense to subtract only one win from a team that has demonstrated it can win nine games. 7-9, 6-10 or worse makes more sense if you lack confidence in the team's ability to finish with a winning record. Something more specific must be driving him to this conclusion.

While I think we win more than 8 games... I believe Romo not having TO will expose him. TO was TO before Romo. Romo was nobody before TO.

I have listened to many years of JJT predictions. He isn't a Cowboy hater. He just calls it like he sees it. Many a year I used to bash him for his prediction, but he often is pretty on. Sure we can be 11-5, but Romo and our OL need to step it up. So far, I have yet to see that happen at the end of the season. I have no problem with his prediction.

*Shrugs* I was watching the show when he said this and honestly it doesn't bother me too much. It's not like he's saying anything ground breaking here. We've been a 9-7 team 3 times out of the last 4 years and now Owens, Williams, Henry, and a couple of others are gone from those teams so in many peoples minds we've probably taken a step backwards. If he thinks all those changes turn us from 9-7 to 8-8 then he's really not stepping out on a limb to much, and at the same time he's also saying that all those other guys only meant the difference in being 1 game better.

Besides if the media is picking us to be a middle of the pack team that is MUCH better for the team then to have them picking them to win it all.

Actually, I love all the doubt. Last year, I had my doubts, but like many of you, I got sucked in to the hype. I was confident that there was no other team that could match up to us, because of all the "talent" and "depth" we had at every position. That, I think, is what made last season so difficult to cope with, my expectations far exceeded the results. And so, this year I'll be damned if I allow me to set myself up for that type of disappointment. But it's nice to see I won't have to work to hard, considering what the mediots and pundits are saying...

One thing I've learned about football, professional or college - none of us, have any idea what is going to happen next year. So many factors, injuries draft busts/booms etc - it would be stupid to try to and make a prediction this time of year. Which is exactly why JJT would do it. I'm really curious to how much he makes.

Seriously I love JJT,but come on. Why all of the negativity towards Roy Williams. The guy has been a pro bowl WR in this league before. He said if williams can't demand double teams then teams will stack 8 in the box and neutralize our running game. What steeler WR demanded constant double teams? We had one and we still went 9-7. We've already been buried by the pundits and were still 5 months away from the season.

I dont get the negativity towards Roy. I think it may be because of some of the things he said last year AND the fact that he just looked bad out there.

8-8... well we went 9-7 last year... anything is possible.
I want to eat crow for a year. Prove me wrong in all.

Hmmmm....9-7, some kind of locker room turmoil, quitting in Philly with the playoffs on the line, loss of a dominant WR...

well those aren't reasons to doubt this team

We'll see but JJT HAS a point.
