He's been awful for two years. Maybe injury related. Maybe "being on the Browns" related.

But he probably isn't the guy you all remember.

Even if he's not as good as he was 4 years ago but better than he was the last two years, he's a better CB than Nolan Carroll.

If he gets $7MM or so from someone for a year, hell no. But if he shops himself to a contender for a much cheaper contract, I'd take him.

I mean aren't we paying Carroll like $4MM this year?

Likely not, but he just has to be better than Nolan Carroll. Not hard to imagine.

And our own Dez Bryant managed just one catch for 19 yards against Haden in the game against Cleveland last year. So there's that too.

I mean expectations on Haden needs to be realistic. If you're signing him to be a pro-bowl shut down CB, then you're going to be disappointed. If you're signing him to replace Carr or Claiborne, now we're talking. Fact is, Dallas went hard at CB this off-season through the draft and addressed depth in FA but to this point it hasn't worked out. Injuries have severely hampered the development of young draft picks and there is no way I feel confident watching those young CB's playing significant time early after being injured all training camp. And the FA signing has been so far a disappointment as well, both on and off the field.

Why double down on this when you're presented with a golden opportunity? Haden is the perfect type of those so called "bridge players" to help fill the gap until some of the young draft picks are ready to handle the CB full time.

At the right price, with a thorough look over, I think he'd make a heckuva bridge player on a one year deal.

A win-win where he gets to reinvent himself and improve his stock for another multi-year deal and the Cowboys buy a year for Awuzie, Lewis, and White/Duke Thomas to gain a year of experience with the team.

Love it and totally agree.

Honestly citing PFF grades as a basis for or against anything is beyond ignorant.
Unfortunately this is what hits the table for reviewing players and their respective levels of performance. Not sure why you feel the need to drop an insult over someone else's opinion evaluation on players. I think they both stink and bringing in Haden is bringing in Carroll. You have a different opinion so did the fellow zoner I replied to with a different take or opinion. Neither of us dropped insults to make our points. Head scratcher reply... I recommend a mirror self evaluation. You might not like what you are seeing and change your approach.

The issue is PFF's analysis can be all over the map so it's hard to take a lot of what they say seriously.

For example, they rated the Eagles OL #1 and the Cowboys 9th. In no rational world would anyone take the Eagles OL over the Cowboys' even with the Cowboys having to replace Leary and Free.

Yea, I really have problems with PFF rankings, unfortunately I do not know of any other service or publications that have their own rankings which are quality. So when comparing players its either relying on PFF rankings (inconsistent), media (unreliable), or posters (hell no).

Agree but what else can we use? Until we have multiple resources available PFF right now at least provides some insight and appears to be the easiest to get a hold of. I agree they do appear to be all over the place at times but every site I read references this site.

If Marenelli wants him, Marenelli gets him. Cowboys owe this man for the garbage, they've had him manage, since he's been here.
