That is what scares me about picking up a guy like Haden.

CBs don't gradually drop off, they fall like a rock. Revis was another good example of this.

Well Terrance Newman was a guy who was on the decline and done when Dallas cut him. 5 years later he's still going strong and a solid CB for the Vikings. So it can happen, provided the player isn't treated as a savior and put in positions to succeed.

Where did you get that number?
Not how the cap works.

Dead cap space is just that, space on the cap. Not actual additionnal money paid out to him. They do owe him $4M in guaranteed money so if a team signs him the Browns owe Haden the difference of $4M and whatever the new contract is for this season.

So if the Cowboys signed him to a contract where he makes $900,000 for the 2017 season, the Browns owe him $3,100,000.

I'm pretty sure the Browns owe him the 4mil regardless. So if a team signs him for $900,000, he makes 4.9 mil.

Yeah, that's what I said.

This would be a huge and necessary upgrade! Listening to the radio right now and it sounds like the Cowboys are interested "for the right price". As much as I dislike Jerry, he's very good at structuring contracts. I really hope we get him.

So, basically Haden looks to be less talented than Morris Claiborne and just as injury prone, if not more. I really don't see anyone on the Cowboy Roster I would cut over him. He wouldn't even know the defense and it would take him four weeks just to get acclimated. Last thing I want to see is Heath and Haden staring at each other with that hands outstretched, palms up, deer-in-the-headlights stare, 'wasn't that your man? weren't we in zone?' look on their faces as the opposing team is celebrating a TD. 4 Games into the preseason and I still have a little doubt the DBs know what to do. I recall two broken coverages vs the Raiders that went for TDs. I don't need Haden to add anymore confusion.

8 Pages, and I didn't see the ubiquitous Mickey quote when it comes to a player suddenly being made available. You know the 'if he is so good, why is he available.'

Lots of tweets coming out about the Steelers having strong interest and being the favorite to land him.

If we don't get him, I'll be glad he doesn't end up in the division, or the conference.

They could run into cap issues ... only have 3.26 to spend

No thank you unless he plays for the one-year vet minimum. He has been a below average player since he signed the big contract.

To sign him, you have to make a leap of faith that his recent poor play is injury related. And that when healthy he will be back to his former self.

Given that Cleveland has tons of cap space, if Haden was back to playing at a high level, there would be no need to cut him. Yet they did.

Tells me Haden is not the player he was. And likely will never be.

I'm not seeing it. Browns didn't want to pay him because he's not worth that much with his continual groin problems and they're 50 mil under the cap.
Hey that's the same thing you said when the Browns gave up on Brandon Weeden......oh wait...

I'd still take a gimped Haden over Nolan Carroll any and every day

19 career picks ... that's more than Scandrick and Carroll combined

My money is he lands in Philthy
That would suck! I don't want him on the resdkins or eagles. Giants are stacked so I don't think they want him

but the Steelers don't waste their time on veteran guys....

Oh wait, they get better whenever/however they can? Like a real Front Office? Okay.
