I'd be fine bringing him in for cheap. The kid has talent.

People saying they wouldn't want him for free are...weird.

Yeah, his resume screams talent to me.

That 57% completion percentage keeps defensive coordinators up at night.

It says progression. 58*% is 60% with decent receivers (Dez/Witten/potentially Treadwell or etc.) which he didn't have this year in Cleveland. If given the opportunity I bet that % rises to a decent respectable number. Fumbles are his biggest problem. I watched every single Manziel snap on tape this year and I think he's improving on the field. Huge work in progress but he won 2 games on a team just as bad or worse than what Cassel or Weeden had to deal with.

Does that mean anything if he is cut?

Unless, I guess, we pick him off waivers.

If Dallas wants to rebuild the lockerroom atmosphere, it would be wise not to sign a drunk diva.

We brought back the guy that got drunk and killed his team mate.

Also, has it been brought up that there was a JF sighting at a liquor store in Fort Worth yesterday? He bought a $120.00 bottle of tequila according to witnesses. Take it for what it's worth.

OMG, he bought Tequila!

Folks give a pass for using illegal drugs, but if he has an alcohol problem, he gets tossed. Not that I care whether he comes or not, just pointing out hypocrisy.

At this point I would take a chance on every troubled player in the league. If one out of 4 hits then it would be a bargain.
What you fail to realize is that all the "misses" do more damage to the team than the 1 "hit" does to help the team.

That's among several reservations. They brought back (or brought in), players like Brent, Hardy, etc. The team took all the backlash, PR hits in the press, etc...and none of it translated to wins. To Jerry's credit, he believes in second chances...but unfortunately it hasn't worked out in several instances.

Everyone makes mistakes. Tom Landry had his share of problem players. And there were some big problems in the 90's. Michael Irvin being one of them. Charles Haley another. But football mattered a lot to those guys. Does it to Manziel? Michael Irvin was the heart & soul of the team. No one practiced harder. He partied like nobodies business...but few were more dedicated to their craft or their teammates. Manziel unfortunately has proven otherwise so far...to include blatantly lying to his coaches and management, essentially abandoning his teammates, missing appointments with trainers, etc. And that's not taking into account whether his game translates long-term to the NFL. Additionally, the temptation & scrutiny will only be magnified if he comes to Texas (his old stomping grounds).

As I've mentioned previously...if trading for a QB still under his rookie contract, I'd Mike Glennon. The only things more favorable in Manziel's case to date, is that he has another year remaining on his rookie deal & is younger.

Unless I was drafted by an NFL team to be their QB, I don't see the relevance in what I was doing when I was 23.. and for the record, they somehow missed me in the talent evaluation process ha ha.

I still don't see an issue at 23 years old. Regardless of his profession. If he's a prick and breaking the law then I can see it being an issue. I have no doubt he will grow out of the stage he's found himself in it's the natural progression of being young. He was spotted at a liquor who cares

I was a working professional whose days of binge drinking were long gone.

I owned a GNC franchise and still went out and had drinks. Doesn't matter the point is at 23 it's not unusual. Heck NYC, LA etc... Are bustling with young executives that frequent bars and clubs.

I was probably at a liquor store, but was never in rehab for 3 months, and not a professional quarterback

Doesn't matter the profession... We have no idea why he did it or what he went in for. If was something else it wouldn't surprise me. I honestly don't think he went to rehab for alcohol. I think he went for something else. But he is under self inflicted scrutiny so it is what it is. If he's breaking the law I would have a problem, but he's out on what a Friday night buying alcohol and going to have a good time in January. Big deal

Did you lie to people about your drinking? Did you miss mandatory owner training sessions because of your drinking? Did your store ever stay closed an entire day because you were supposed to be there but you went out drinking instead?

He is breaking team rules. That's the problem. He went to rehab and now he is seen partying in Vegas on a night before a game and then totally blew off the mandatory medical meeting with team drs the next day and didn't bother to even show up for their game. Come on, you really want someone like that here. He is complete loser and should never play in the nfl again, let alone for the Cowboys.

Bottom line he's better than everyone else we have and Weeden, he wins a couple of games without Romo.

I think all of this talk on a wayward Aggie boils down to this...would you ask a Commanchero to become a rancher and feel safe with your herd?

That is where I disagree. He can make all the throws. He just needs some time in a system and someone like Romo to teach him how to be a pro.

Just let Hardy chew on his head a little in the lockerroom.

The drinking and partying is obviously an issue. But when people talk about a "distraction" ... the other way to look at it is that he is a huge star. It cuts both ways, and some people don't look at the other side of it.
