Got it, thanks. The one thing I heard is what you highlighted above with studying the playbook. That seems to be a problem with JFF as well if you believe the talk.

Manziel is hard to figure out. Jon Gruden swears up and down he is a smart player.

Johnny at QB1 is the one player who would cause me to severely curtail my fandom of this team.

People said the same thing about Terrell Owens. That did not stop them cheering when he scored on Sundays then once he was gone, they went back to the same state.

Maybe the two of them should be brought in for a competition and the winner get's to hold the clipboard.

Which competition?

See which one can drink a whole bottle of Whiskey.

Trying to drink whiskey, from a bottle of wine.

Quick: What song? :)

Point of clarification, if both are cut, do teams pick up their current contracts or are they free to renegotiate?

Unless they're claimed off waivers I believe, they would be signing all new contracts. That's my understanding anyway.

And I don't know if I'd say Manziel's game has progressed compared to RGIII's. Manziel was awful his first year. Any progress is good, but I just don't know if I would call taking one step when you couldn't take any progress of the sort that gives me total confidence.
RGIII was injured his second year was he not?

RGIII was so epically bad that he was deactivated for an entire year. If someone can give me another time when a team has done this, it might not seem like the most epic failure in pro football history like it looks to me now.

I've continued to ask this question of RGIII supporters but have heard only crickets chirping in response.

And this is for a player the team used three 1st round picks and a second rounder to acquire.

And there are still Aggies that want him here. Unbelievable.

If Jerry brings this malignancy here, I'd have to reconsider my fandom for this organization. Beyond all his many personal flaws, the dude can't even play football at this level.

I don't believe I have ever seen a more unlikable athlete (short of convicted felons, etc). I keep saying I'd change my fandom, and I think it would be a real struggle but I might be stubborn enough to actually do it.

If he somehow took over the team and won the super bowl making his stupid faces and doing the money hands thing while being his smug self, my brain would probably implode and I might have to quit watching sports. I can't even think about it.

And that team that gave up 3 1st rd picks and a 2nd rd pick for basically nothing just won the division.

Showing how smart they ultimately were in covering their bets with Cousins. I'd feel pretty good if we had that guy right now.

Yep and a 4th rd pick too. Shanahan is not a dummy. He basically overcame the bad decision by Snyder. Just imagine if shanahan had those 3 1st rd picks and the 2nd rounder. He would probably still have his job. Fire Snyder. LOL

I'm not necessarily a RGIII supporter, but he was deactivated not because he was absolutely awful but because they wanted to take him out of consideration in case he had to enter the game, got injured and they'd have to pay him $17 million.

It would be kind of strange (not saying it isn't already) to have him dress, have Cousins get hurt, have McCoy get hurt then be forced to play him. You take that option off the table by deactivating him.

Ugh. I don't know. I think Manziel is more talented. And more insane in the membrane. And if we acquire JF, I think Jerry may decide that the QB position is shared up. I think RGIII is less talented, but he's less insane.

Can I choose neither?

I'm wondering if Shanny doesn't get back in the league with Miami after getting paid $7 million from Snyder to do nothing this year?

Sure, but I think it only further illustrates how totally, completely, irrefutably done with him the Commanders were.

A bigger or quicker fall from grace I have never seen.

That says so much to me.

But he was awful. When even Chris Cooley Commanders pimp blasts you publicly, you know it's terrible.

Fair enough. I think it's a bit deeper, though. It must be an attitude thing along with the non-productivity because there have been other quarterbacks who have been awful (cough, Tebow, cough; cough, Weeden, cough) but didn't get deactivated.

Warning: The topic of this thread is choosing between Manziel or RGIII, not bashing Jerry, Garrett, the front office, etc. In an effort to keep this thread on-topic and in the Fan Zone, if you bash Jerry/Garrett/Front Office in this thread, you will lose access to post in the Fan Zone.

I believe that Sir Jones, our idol and man crush, would prefer Manziel. Both seem to have a fondness for each other and Johnny Looseball would love to return to Texas to do good deeds.

It certainly involves the money, there's no denying that. But to go to such lengths to be done with a player has never been done.

By the way, thanks for the link. I read it, and Cooley was pretty clear and concise with his criticism of RGIII.

That was some of the finest, simplest analysis I've read.
