In fact, let's look at the QBs drafted in the first round since 2000:
http://pfref.com/tiny/ekg84

Of these 42 QBs, these QBs career completion percentages were below 60% in college:
1. Michael Vick
2. Joey Harrington
3. Patrick Ramsey
4. Carson Palmer
5. Kyle Boller (below 50%)
6. J.P. Losman
7. Jay Cutler
8. Brady Quinn
9. Matt Ryan
10. Matthew Stafford
11. Josh Freeman
12. Jake Locker

One, there's a lot of busts on that list. Two, guys like Stafford and Ryan and Palmer did have sub 60% for their careers but each had at least one season where they were a 60+% passer. Ryan did it twice at BC.

Cook has never done it. That's a red flag.

I think Showers has a legit chance of beating out Moore for the 3rd qb spot

Most of these guys were fairly predictable busts.

Surprised to see Palmer there

Weeden threw for 72 percent last year with us.

Did MSU throw deep, have receivers that drop balls, no backs who were good checkoffs?

Or was Cook bad?

I'm pretty sure I read he was never voted captain. His leadership skills are questionable.

Who came up with this criteria? There are no good Qbs with those college numbers?

Think of it this way - passing windows in the NFL are much smaller and close much quicker. If you can't break 60% in college, with large windows to throw into, logically, it's not going to get better when you throw into tighter Windows against superior athletes to those that you played in college.

Honest question...Has there been a QB in the last 3-4 years that Gruden has covered that he does or did NOT like?

I can't think of one QB where he did not like him but I might just not remember it.

Especially while he is broadcasting and fawning over current players. Not a negative word throughout the 3 hours regarding either opponent:confused:. Greeeaaatttt insight Jon:D

Gruden is not that good of a QB evaluator in my mind.

I want Lynch. With that #12 jersey and his ablity to move and throw on the move, I see Roger the Dodger in him.

Gruden loves everybody. He would be a good friend to have.

I like Cook, but in three years he failed to crack 60% . That's a big red flag. He's no Tom Brady. I do think he'll do well in a bus driver role though.

I don't want him driving my bus. He would snatch my seat and miss all the turns. The kid can't hit the broad side of a barn throwing a football
