He's much, much better than Cosby. Cosby is a 5'10" college posession receiver. He was reliable. Shipley is a weapon, taller, a lot faster, and elusive after the catch.

A lot faster? Cosby did post a 4.42 forty time as his best time for the scouts. That was at the upper range of your Shipley expectations. Jordan is faster, but not a lot faster.

runs say a 4.37-4.42 in that range which is what I'd expect

Desean Jackson ran slightly faster than a 4.37 and he was not a 1st rounder.

Like I said, I think Shipley is better than Cosby, but not enough to go 1st round compared to Cosby being a UDFA. Being a third rounder is a lot better than being a UDFA, so expecting higher than that is expecting a lot. And it is worth mentioning again that I do hope he ends up in Dallas.

I agree. I love Shipley as a UT fan and while I think he has 1st rd talent and a very heads up ball player I would be surprised to see him go in the 1st rd. I think if he continues to have a strong season this year he may go in the 2nd rd. I also think whoever gets him will get a quality ball player who will do whatever is asked of him

Shipley was timed at 4.37 in high school, but those times can be sketchy. I actually never saw what Cosby ran for scouts, I'm impressed. Shipley plays a lot faster. Kinda like TO supposedly ran something like a 4.65, Roy Williams sub 4.4..yet who looks faster on the field? The issue with D. Jackson was size. Tiny. I don't know that Shipley will be a first rounder, I just think he's good enough. Think he'll be a heck of an NFL player. I don't know how much his age will be a factor with draft status. I don't think someone turning 24 should be, he wouldn't be out of his prime till at least his 7th year or so. That's a lot of football, and with FA you're not guaranteed to keep guys that long anyway.

shipley lost a step after his knee injury and even he will tell you he isnt as fast when he came out but i still expect him to run something like a 4.41-4

Usually takes a couple years after those kind of knees injuries to get your speed back, if you do. He sure looks fast, that's all I know. That punt return he smoked those guys when he was turning the corner.

the only reason I woud draft him is to rid us of Crayton -

I see a trade to whatever team drafts McCoy all over him...Man Jordan Shipley will probably be a very productive #2 most places eventually, but whatever team takes Colt McCoy should IMO find any way to pocket Shipley. If Colt gets Shipley I like his chances to be a good NFL QB a lot more. To me it should be a package deal for some NFL team...

I would draft him for a lot of reasons, he's a good and extremely productive player. His hands are glue. He's a great route runner. And he's a smart and explosive returner. He will almost right away lock down a top 3 receiver spot where ever he goes. The thing with him is there isn't a ton of upside, what you see is what you get. It's always upside in the stupid draft. Too many teams would rather take a guy who may do nothing but could someday instead of a guy who you can pencil in for 600-800 yards and play solid special teams within year 2. That's the mentality though and I don't expect it to change too soon...

We need a WR in the draft but more importantly we need a punt returner we don't have to hold our breath and hope can catch fair catch.

Shipley is a perfect fit for us

Oh dear lord. You're holding your breath cause he muffed a punt this weekend? The guy hasn't muffed on before that in...I don't even know how long. Now all the sudden we're going to worry every time he's back there to catch it? Please.

I do like Shipley though, just to be part of the convo here. :)

He's a crap return guy either way, he's never going to do much more then fair catch, if he can even do that...

Shipley would be an excellent second round pick IMO, not worth our first but definitely worth a second rounder. I think he'd not only add to our return game immediately, he might compete at WR pretty immediately. We just don't have anyone that can get in and out of cuts quickly and thereby get any separation. Shipley seems to have some quicks in addition to his fasts.

I forgot one positive thing about Shipley possibly ending up in Dallas. He played high school football with Stephen McGee, so they would have a connection. :D

Where is Jordan Shipley projected to go in the draft? Will he be one of those guys that last till the 2nd round or will we have to give up alot to get him?

I WANT SHIPLEY!

Why? RW turns me off to the idea of UT WR's

two different types and styles of WR. RW is big, physical, and not a burner. Ship is fast and shifty.
