two different types and styles of WR. RW is big, physical, and not a burner. Ship is fast and shifty.

I don't care products of the same school. I'll pass.

I put his range somewhere between two pretty good rookies this year who have similar size and skill-sets.:

Hakeem Nicks was picked late in Rd 1 (29th) by the Giants.
Austin Collie was picked in Rd 4 (127th) by the Colts.

Both are coming on strong. Nicks had an advantage of being mature, but still just 21, while Collie (like Shipley) was very old (24) for a college student when he was drafted.

You broke the rule! Only compare white WR's to Welker!

Austin Collie, although Dallas Clark is tight end he catches like receiver. Alot of tight ends catches better then some receivers like Witten.

Shipley is fast. Lots of fast white people. Heck Matt Jones is 6'6" 240 and runs a 4.3. If you can play you can play, who gives a crap what color they are?

give it a rest, you cant win with rampage....we need those thugs from the U who are used to running day and night from the po-po....the kind of receivers who will stab you in the throat with a pair a scissors if you talk funny too em. those are the kinds of WRs that rampage likes.

personally, i dont care if the guy is white, black, brown, red, yellow, or whatever color.........i dont care if he is faster than lightning or slower than molasses in the winter....as long as he catches the ball, gets first downs, gets touchdowns, and blocks for our running game.

If you say so but a lot of members on the board hyped Amendola to no end. Before he even played in a game. It was type ridiculous and the reasoning behind it IMO was because he was white.

Irvin was a great player and great team mate. He always wanted to win and is a HoF WR from the U. I guess guys from the U like Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson who also played WR are clearly players you would stay away from right? The U is like a pipeline of NFL talent and we really need to get some players from the U.

I disagree. The U used to be a pipeline of NFL talent. Maybe they will be again, but over the last few seasons they have not had many great NFL prospects. Not compared to years past. You used to be able to get a few really good players out of Miami every season. Now you may get one good one every other year that came contribute right away in the NFL. I would not turn away a player just because they played for the Canes, but I certainly would not just pick a guy just because he went to the U. It will depend on who that specific player is and what he can do.

I also disagree about Amendola being hyped up because he was white. I think that had very little to do with him being propped up by some people on this board. First I think there were only a minority of board members that even propped him up, so it never got to the point of being ridiculous. Second people on this board tend to prop local products. Kids from Texas or the Big 12 always get more hype than other kids because of the familiarity. Third there is the comparison to Wes Welker. They had nearly identical college careers playing the same position at the same school. With Welker's success in the NFL there were bound to be similar expectations thrust upon Amendola to accomplish the same things. If race played a part it was way down on the list.

Trust me, if he does indeed put up 100 catches this season, and returns another punt or two for TDs, he'll go higher than that...

That boy's just white lightning... I think if the Boys had an equal chance to draft him or Colt McCoy, I'd prefer that they go for Jordan... and y'all know how in the tank I am for Colt...

I say 2/3rd because he projects to the slot in the NFL

I don't see him ever being a #1 type of receiver

Well they're not producing them at the same point that they once were. However, you can still see the players and the impact they make. I think it was the first time in a while for a Cane not to be picked in the first round. We're constantly being bitten in the *** by a miami player cough Portis cough bruce johnson cough kenny phillips cough santana moss cough jeremy shockey the list goes on.

And how does that change my point? Johsnon was taken #3 overall in 2003. Since then Miami has not produced players of that caliber. In the past the U produced 1 or 2 players of Johnson's caliber and a whole bunch of other players that were solid contributors to NFL teams. Since that 2003 draft they have not really done that. There are very few stars of Andre's stature and fewer guys that you can really count on to help teams out. Most of the guys DB4L listed were drafted in years prior to Andre Johnson. The couple since then are just that, a couple. Miami has had a dry spell in recent years.

Or course any team should have drafted Andre Johnson, but few teams were in a position to do so. Dallas was never in a position to get him since he got drafted at the #3 spot.

I just wouldn't grab a player in any round solely because he went to The U. Just so I am clear it has nothing to do with the stereotype of them being thugs or anything like that. I just don't think the quality is there right now. Maybe in a few years it will be like it was in the past. In the past if you were drafting in any round and had a group of players all graded out about the same you could use the fact that one player was from Miami as the tie breaker to draft him. That is not the case right now.

I'd give a late second round pick for him. I think he warrants that on his special teams ability alone. You've got your punt returner, kick returner, and FG holder locked up in one pick. I think he'd also be a fantastic gunner.

As for WR, I think Welker is a fair comparison. They both come out of their breaks extremely quickly, run fantastic routes, have reliable hands, and are more quick than fast. I think Dallas really needs some quicks.

The Cowboys have some straight line speed in both Austin and Ogletree, but are lacking in the quick break type receivers. I think R. Williams, M. Austin, P. Crayton, K. Ogletree, and J. Shipley would be a nice combination. Especially being able to carry (4) WR to a game and a (5th) WR/Specialist. Hurd...gone!
