Sorry to say this but Im not sold on Randle. To say that he is a physical back is nothing more than a farce. I have never seen Randle run over anyone. I hope he does well and rushes for over 1,000. But I have my doubts.

Randle is nothing more than a change of pace back that benefited from Murray consistently pounding the defense into submission. We have no runningback right now on the team that can do that especially not Randle.

Notice the vision and speed at which he hits the hole. His best traits. And he is a great receiver out of the backfield.

If he was drafted in the 3rd round, which is where some projected him to go, I'll bet there'd be a whole lot more hype around him right now.

By the way, I know this is based on what he did in college, but I thought this was interesting to see this listed in his "strengths" (Dirty Yards™?). Not sure about everyone else but the more I study this guy the more excited I am about his potential in an expanded role (it's just a screenshot):

I also really like what he did last year with the carries he received. His burst through the holes and big play runs were impressive.

Then you clearly didnt bother to watch tape of him during college. Although hes NOT as physical as Murray, he can certainly handle the load. He had 18 TD's his final year in college and has a nose for the endzone. Unlike Murray, Randle will be running away and around people, not into them. Randle has great vision and he actually has moves in the open field. Unlike Murray. Enjoy your crow when it comes.

:hammer:

Thank you.

A little contradictory, can move the pile but cannot break arm tackles????

Notice the blitz pick-up at 2:13. He can be physical.

Also remember that a couple of years ago (2013 I think) when he ran down on kickoff for Dallas and knocked himself and the ball carrier almost unconscious. Reminded me a little of what Terrell Davis did as a rookie.

EDIT: I found something about the kickoff coverage. It was in 2014, not 2013. He hit Titans kickoff returner Leon Washington and knocked them both out.

"In kickoff coverage, Joseph Randle hit Washington so hard that Randle literally knocked himself out of the game. It was a crushing hit."

I know he has wiggle. But were not talking about the load here. Were talking about him being able to break tackles. At least Murray ran for 1800 yards. What has Randle done?

Yeah I'd love to eat crow if you all are right. But I have my doubts.

Is it going to take less to get him down than Murray, sure. But he is strong enough to break arm tackles, many of his runs he broke arm tackles. THank goodness many styles of RB will work in the NFL.

Who was projecting Randle to go in the 3rd? He timed at 4.63 in the 40 yard dash on his pro-day. Those backs don't go in the 3rd.

Actually it seems that his combine dash was 4.63, pro day was 4.52. According to nfldraftscout.com anyway.

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=111557&draftyear=2013&genpos=RB

40 Low: 4.42
40 Time: 4.52
40 High:4.63

Projected Round: 4 High: 3rd Low: 5th

Another source to consider:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...st-fit-at-running-back-for-cincinnati-bengals

Near the bottom of the article:

1. Randle: Total score: 14. Projected round: late second to early third.

2. Lacy: Total score: 19. Projected round: late first to early second.
...
After applying all major categories for running backs in this year's draft, Randle scores even higher than Lacy—who is projected to go a round before Randle.

Speaking of Lacy, he ran a 4.58-4.62 on his pro day, and was selected in the 2nd round. So I guess backs that run times like this can get drafted in the 3rd or earlier after all.

Some questions about RB's drafted since 2000 that timed above a 4.6.

Yes, I saw those. I stated that some people projected Randle to be drafted as high as the 3rd round. I didn't say that everyone projected him as a third rounder.

Le'Veon bell had a high 40 time of 4.67 and went in the 2nd round: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=105251&draftyear=2013&genpos=RB

Anyway, I don't think 40 time alone determines where a non-1st round RB goes. In the first round, yeah I think it's pretty hard to find a RB who runs higher than 4.5. But I feel like 2nd round and up, it's more unpredictable.

I think Randle has ability on the field and truly hope he can eliminate the stupidity in order to actually see what he can do!

These two incidents:
  • Has shoplifted 1 pair of underwear and 1 bottle of cologne
  • Has had 1 charge of domestic abuse dropped
These are the only 2 incidents that he was actually busted for accordingly but it is my suspicion that these types of behaviors are not isolated or foreign to Randle.

Hopefully he can exercise these demons, he has some talent and explosiveness.

Maybe in college. But I haven't seen him break arm tackles in the pros. Im not sold on him and maybe just yet. I prefer McFadden and Williams but they are often injured. Thus the question marks coming into the camp in the RB position.
