Considering that Randle got injured and they still only gave C-Mike 5 carries on a day when they ran the ball 36 times, I would say that the coaches are still not sold on C-Mike.

Either that or they rode the hot hand

What has Michael done to warrant significantly more carries? He had one good carry yesterday and nothing the other five. I do agree Darren's carries should be limited a bit, but he should still be the work horse.

You can't ride McFadden against a defense like Seattle's next week. Wagner and Chancellor will be a load to deal with.

McFadden should have been the starter all along. Now he gets his chance. [insert haters posts...lol]
With Randle out, give C-Mike his role as in Dunbar's role.
Then we get to see what Rod Smith can do.

McFadden & Michael looked very good against that "vaunted" Giants run D, also no coincidence they looked good with Collins starting at LG.

I'll admit the McFadden piece was a pleasant surprise but I knew Michael would do well (albeit in limited action again).

I'll say it once more for another successive week. Randle is not a "lead dog". The sooner the coaches move past their propensity to start him in that spot against all odds, the sooner we move on to pulling together a running game that will sustain and work.

McFadden stepped up big time yesterday. He has the speed to exploit the big holes the OL opened.

I don't think he will do nearly as well against SEA next week and we will right back to square one.

Agreed... It was a great thing to finally see the running game put together 4 strong quarters of football which is something we have missed. It seemed that DMC and the O-line had very good chemistry that we haven't seen since Murray left. We also saw a RB that was determined especially the way he moved the pile there was no give up in DMC and that was a great sign. He fought for them and they fought for him.

That's all I ask for. 4 quarters of clock munching superiority. It opens up the passing game and you could also argue having Cassel in there opened up the run game as well.

4 quarters.... Not 2 and a disappearing act.

Cassell can hit the open receivers which Weeden couldn't, the all 22 footage showed that receivers were open and he wasn't getting them the ball.

No great loss will be fine with what we have. His injury is a blessing since now we can see what DMC and Michaels can actually do. We saw a glimpse yesterday as McFadden was exceptional.

Could be that I was still hung over from Saturday night (actually, that was 100% the case), but I thought had heard that the coaches felt Michael was not solid enough on his playbook knowledge to take on a bigger load.

The announcers might have speculated on that. I don't think anybody but the coaches really know why he has not received more carries.

My personal guess is that they just don't trust him. Maybe it's knowing the plays or maybe it's pass blocking or it might even be that they don't like the way he holds the ball and are worried about a fumble which has been a little bit of a problem for him in the past.

I hate agreeing with someone who is clearly a DMC fan.

But I am not so sure what everyone thinks is so great about CM.

He had one decent carry during the game and the others looked like he lowered his head before he even got to the line.

I would say that the coaching staff must be disappointed in him or he would have had more playing time by now.

They will run DMC until he has is yearly injury and then we will see what CMike and R.Smith will be able to do if Randle is not back by that time.
