I think for some players the contract amount represents a certain positional respect among teammates and peers. How many times we heard players feel disrespected by a team's offer even knowing it was more than they would ever spend? That is exactly what many of us have been saying. Sometimes I wonder about the integrity of those who keep screaming "GET WHAT YOU CAN."
Don't get me wrong , that would make sense for someone making 50 grand a year who was offered 60 grand a year. For that much money? It's generational wealthy either way, so exactly what is that extra 5 mil going to bring you? I'd take the lesser amount and have a better chance at a super bowl, and w/ no hesitation.
As for Dak looking back, I now have a different perspective. I will keep it close to the vest for now but he could easily signed for $4-5M less and STILL been the highest-paid QB but used the "looking out for brotherhood card" to get every penny.
He's the Dallas Cowboys QB, so I will always root for him to be the best coz it win games but....
