Josh Allen's nugget on Dak's $60M contract

That is exactly what many of us have been saying. Sometimes I wonder about the integrity of those who keep screaming "GET WHAT YOU CAN."

Don't get me wrong , that would make sense for someone making 50 grand a year who was offered 60 grand a year. For that much money? It's generational wealthy either way, so exactly what is that extra 5 mil going to bring you? I'd take the lesser amount and have a better chance at a super bowl, and w/ no hesitation.
I think for some players the contract amount represents a certain positional respect among teammates and peers. How many times we heard players feel disrespected by a team's offer even knowing it was more than they would ever spend?

As for Dak looking back, I now have a different perspective. I will keep it close to the vest for now but he could easily signed for $4-5M less and STILL been the highest-paid QB but used the "looking out for brotherhood card" to get every penny.

He's the Dallas Cowboys QB, so I will always root for him to be the best coz it win games but....

Dak and above average should never go in the same sentence. Apparently you have no clue what you see when he plays. I was pulling for Dak when he first came into the league despite what I knew was coming. Dak defines the word average except when he gets in tight situations. Then he’s as bad a QB who has ever played the game. You Dak homers favorite word is “hater”. It has nothing to do with hate and all about his level of play over the last 9 years. You can’t see it because you’re blinded by your love for him or you just don’t know what you’re seeing. Always going to those stats.
I am not saying Dak is great, but statistics say otherwise..... but I guess those are fake statistics right?

.....not incomprehensible to me. I told facts about the contract. Josh Allen got more guaranteed money......not a problem. Josh Allen got new contract via extension.....not a problem. Josh Allen been previously paid 1st round money vs 4th round money.....not a problem. $5M per year not a problem to Josh Allen.....not a problem. Again....Josh Allen got more guaranteed money......not a problem. What is incomprehensible to you?......Josh talking like he sacrificed?
I think anytime we as fans hear a player SAY they are taking less money or leaving money on the table for the team and/or teammates..........draws a positive/wow type reaction. Even if that player isn't truly sacrificing much.

Ok.....or if the player isn't really sacrificing at all (you wrote it).......which makes me wonder why should player portray a "it doesn't really matter" approach, if it isn't that? or player is portraying something that the player isn't actually portraying? That's funny to me. But for all the supporters........guaranteed money is the importance.....and I have no problem with Josh Allen's contract other than the "smoke & mirror" stuff he spewed. Kudos for Josh Allen and his guaranteed money.....the most important element to a player's contract.

I cannot figure out how to link it but pro football talk has an interesting article about so-called new money and then reality Allen’s contract is more than Dan’s in average per year.

Josh has talent. No reason to make him wait. Teams make the players they aren't sure about wait.
I would like to see how turn over prone Allen would look with big mike calling his plays. Before anyone starts flapping about how he brought those numbers down it was only this year Dak has not always been turn over prone, but he has always played without real coaching.

One of your classic posts. I'm no Dak fan....BUT.

Statistics say, he was a very good QB against poor (ish) defenses, but was highly susceptible when pressured against a deep lying defense = poor when it mattered, when he was needed to step up out of his comfort zone.

Chosen leaders:

Offense - Dak Prescott
Defense - Micah Parsons

Prescott isn't mounted upon a stud horse yet...in the race.
Parsons is no where near a Lawrence Taylor or really close. Good.

where have you been. glad to see you are almost done pulling your head out of Dak's arse as you had been so consumed by everything Dak including his house, his child, and so on.

are you attending DHA meetings now (Dak Haters Anonymous ).

alright. here is a challenge for you....lets say you got 5M extra. now build a championship team...nah, I make it easier. build a competitive team.

I know you comeback on this one..."With Dak we can't be competitive". so now go spend the 5M....come one. show me what you can do

To take a bit less and be happy w/ it. Incomprehensible to me is the "GET WHAT YOU CAN" idea.

Talent is what makes Allen turnover prone. He can make so many plays that other QB's can't that he sometimes makes a bad decision. Almost all super physically gifted QB's have similar issues.

Dak has no natural talent to be an NFL QB. No amount of coaching, superstar team around him, etc., will change that. Dak wasn't prone to turnovers early in his career because he wasn't willing to make NFL throws. When forced to do that, his turnovers go up.

yes. So many below average to average QB's are putting up fantastic stats in the last 20 years or so that they are supposedly among the greatest to ever play. Yet, most of those QB's are viewed as marginal by their own organizations and fan bases.

No they don't. Volume stats do not signify greatness. Vinnie Testaverde had the 8th most yards and TDs in NFL history when he retired. Stafford is 9th right now in yds all time, and if you think he's the 9th best QB of all time you are drunk, high, and insane!!!

I think this argument has been repeated so much that you're starting to believe yourself.

Would YOU (Door #1) "GET WHAT YOU CAN"? or go with other's (Door #2) "GET WHAT YOU SHOULD GET?" or even what other's feel is (Door #3) "GET WHAT YOU DESERVE? on YOUR job?

Not so incomprehensible.

I don't look at a single stat. a single stat onto itself is meaningless. you have to look at multiple stats.
with that said, the past three years, Dak has been bad in post season. no argument.

After already being paid a fortune, "getting what you can" is irrelevant and pure greed.

I understand if it's a borderline NFL player making a few hundred thou/season, but to insist on an extra 5 mill is dirty pool when you're already a mulitmillionaire.
